Assuming you are serious, I have the same question. Is it the whole screen, or just the edge. The iPhone 6, 6s, and 7 already have a little bit of a rounded edge to the glass.

I would like this also. Plus, it would make it easier to pick up the phone with damp hands.
I will, I am sick of my 6s Plus size. If I could get almost the same screen size in a smaller form, that would be awesome. Actually, I think I would rather go back to a 4" version before getting another Plus size.

I think a lot of Plus owners who say they can't go back to a smaller size will change their minds when they see it. A 5.2" screen in the body size of the current 4.7" iPhone 7 (6/6s) will be too tempting given the significantly improved pocketable size vs. the minuscule .3" "downgrade" in screen size. For anyone still complaining about that .3" decrease, it's more of a mental thing for you that you have to settle for "less". For some who continue to say that, it's more likely a price issue than anything else that will hinder them from buying it.

I read a macrumors’ "no curve screen iPhone 8" article yesterday, I was so excited, told my friends "Samsang sucks, curve screen stupid", now I am reading this article:(
This is sarcastic right? I think some people on this board actually argue with people in real life about which phone is best.

Just bloody wait till September im sick of hearing about the next iphone geeeez
[doublepost=1489588041][/doublepost]Every day another rumour its getting annoying its 6 months away
Newsflash: You're on a rumor site :D ..... but honestly, I too am utterly confused by all the conflicting iPhone stories, and lately my eyes just glaze over when I see words like 'analyst' or 'iPhone' in the same sentence.

what's the point of a curved screen if it does not offer any additional functionality
Other than being cosmetically appeasing
Hard to believe that Apple wouldnt optimize a curve screen phone with virtual buttons

So the new iPhone will come with a slight bend in it when purchased. I think this is apple's way of saying "your phone hasn't bent, it was designed that way."

Monday - Analyst says iPhone 8 to have curved screen.
Tuesday - A different analyst says iPhone 8 to have flat screen.
Wednesday - A third analyst says iPhone 8 to have curved screen but not as much as the S7E.

Well, at least you'll be "right" in September MR
It's a rumors site, they don't really need to get it right.
I also believe the design might not be finalized yet. Interesting months ahead :)

Those rumours are so stupid. Of course it is 'curved' but this has nothing to do with Samsung curved.

It is curved as in OLED Apple Watch curved. What's the big deal. This and nothing else. Couldn't be more obvious.

Samsungs curved looks ridiculous.

What is the allure of a curved screen? So that your text runs off the screen? How many fell for the "curved LED TVs"? Nothing but marketing.

Really....why would I want a curved screen on my phone? Anyone?

Aesthetics.

Isnt the iPhone screen technically already "curved"

The glass is curved, not the screen.

This will mean that it will maintain curved glass on the edge, but now the screen will curve slightly into that edge - it'll be much more seamless overall, and make the phone look like it has almost no bezels, while providing a much more modern look with the curves.

Curve+ (™)

Samsung's first effort at a fingerprint reader was a gimmick. Apple's implementation actually worked, and laugh all you want, but it actually was magical.

I believe we'll see a similar story when it comes to this curved display.

To be honest, it doesn't seem like they're implementing any use, or feature for/from the curve. It's literally just going to be aesthetics. This can be seen by the fact that they stated it would not be like Samsung's curve, which was purposely pronounced in order to build in some sort of functionality (which didn't end up working well)

the fist tvs (tubes) I bought has curved screens. I lusted after the sony Wega which was the fist tube with a flat screen.

ironic that people seem to want a curve again.

Opposite type of curve I think. Convex vs. Concave lol

That's exactly what they shouldn't do. Just because there is the opportunity to add functionality doesn't mean it should be done. This must come down to the fundamentals of phone usage. Does the curve add additional functionality to how we would normally use our phones? The short answer to an apple implementation of added functionality without adding additional burdens like curved screen usage is 3D touch.

I think it was implemented well, yet it is not a necessary feature for many, so in the end, to my opinion, it is lackluster. The same would be for curved display, but even more extreme, and actually could be cumbersome for many.

I hope that means the screen will be just slightly curved so it appears like it has no bezels. But in fact it will look and work like a flat screen.

It's only six months since they all got their last phone and they are all desperate to get a new one. I thought iPhones were "magical"!!!!

This fits well with my concept:

I never saw the point to curved screens. no one looks at the side of the phone - you can't get enough information from that small of an area to make it worth wile. I always thought the Samsung curved phones looked silly.

Of course you did. And you probably once thought that phones with screens larger than 3.5" looked silly also ;-)

I hate the idea that the new iPhone will have any curved screen at all!!! Seriously what is the benefit? It makes watching TV or Movies horrible! It makes reading websites harder! It makes putting on a case nearly impossible! Please tell me a benefit that out weighs al three of those? It's like curved TVs, absolutely worthless!! If it's curved then the iPhone 7 will be my last Apple phone, that simple.

Phones with larger screens are useful and practical. Curved screens make zero logical sense. All it does is distort everything your trying to look at!

It's going to be like the Nexus 4. Been saying that since day 1. The edges are going to be sliiiightly curved only in the sense it makes swiping off the screen for more natural.

It might be curved, but in a reasonable and thought out way. Obviously not by as much as edge series.

Sometimes I wonder if instead of curved left and right side displays, Apple will instead extend the display over the top and bottom edges.

That would make it a distinct design, while avoiding more common side edge accidental touches.
