I have the impression some "analyst" read the previous MacRumors article, looked at the "iPhone X" design which is based on the imagination of Gabor Balogh, and nothing else, then they mistook it for a real iPhone and started going off in an entirely wrong direction.

This is NOT a rumour. This is someone who took a phantasy product and thought it was real and then made up stuff to get a story. This is like taken a joke story that a newspaper publishes on April 1st, not getting the joke, and re-publishing it in your own paper on April 2nd with additional (freely invented) details.

I have an S7 edge (in addition to my iPhone 7 Plus) and the "edge" is nothing but annoying. When typing or holding the phone, my palm constantly hits the edge of the display and triggers something I don't want.

Good thing Apple are now here to implement the feature properly.

Could you use the term "curved edges" or "curved display edges" rather than "curved display" (or "curved screen")?

In the last news story thread about this, there was some confusion...

Some people thought you meant the whole screen would be curved, like the curved TVs/monitors, and like that old curved screen iPhone patent from ages ago.

Exactly. I'm beginning to think the new OLED iPhone (and possibly new OLED iPad) will have curved edges (radius) to match the curved edges of the actual physical body of the device. This has nothing to do with curvature in 3 dimensions. One concrete reason I think this? 10.3 changes the app-to-home-screen animation to have rounded edges. Why would they do this now, and for what purpose if the screen edges are currently squared?

It might be curved, but in a reasonable and thought out way. Obviously not by as much as edge series.
Lol. Apple waited until curved screen technology matured. Samsung curve is a gimmick. Slightly less apple curve is magical.

Could be that Apple is throwing out many ideas to head fake Samsung?
Yeah sure keep telling yourself that.

Samsung's first effort at a fingerprint reader was a gimmick. Apple's implementation actually worked, and laugh all you want, but it actually was magical.

I believe we'll see a similar story when it comes to this curved display.

HAHAHAAAA....
Ok,i got it, not as curved as the S7 Edge but still copying the curve form factor. Lol. I'm thinking it's gonna be more like the Note 7 curve, which was perfect. That being said, for a company that really likes to sue for design (rectangle with rounded corners), they sure are shameless.

There's no doubt Samsung has introduced its fair share of gimmicks.

im pretty sure it's going to be the exact same display as the s8

We've had the curved form factor since 2014.

I have both models and experience the same as you. Hopefully apple can do something with their software to fix thes annoyances.

I hope Apple would stop using the 'Soap Bar' rounded corner design. The rounded corners and slippery sides have existed since the 6 came up, with the 7S or 8 coming up I hope it's not the same rounded corner design. With Plus it's easy to slip out your hands without a case not just because of the size but because of the soapy slippery sides.

A little less rounded and more rectangler would be a refresher.

Oh it doesn't; matter to me, I was just saying that might be the reason that there are so many
versions of the new Iphone.

MmMm... I really like that iPhone X concept. They can even add a bit of the top chin back so it is easier to hold in portrait mode, and I'd still be happy.

I also was fond of the iPhone X design render. If it remotely resembles this at all, It would be interesting to see how Portrait/landscape mode would all play together. But any significant physical refresh would be welcomed at this point.

the fist tvs (tubes) I bought has curved screens. I lusted after the sony Wega which was the fist tube with a flat screen.

ironic that people seem to want a curve again.

Apple copY too much. They don't know anything just copy. No innovation Courageous my BS.

I read a macrumors’ "no curve screen iPhone 8" article yesterday, I was so excited, told my friends "Samsang sucks, curve screen stupid", now I am reading this article:(

So basically nobody knows what the next iPhone will look like and are throwing things at the wall to see what sticks.

There's actually a pretty consistent theme if you sift through the rumours. They're listed over here: https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/iphone-8/ The 'expected features' are the ones that have shown up across rumours, across sites, etc. Yeah, there's a lot of chaff among the wheat but things will solidify the closer we get to September.

You know what? This is good to have a $1200 phone. It will separate who is important and who isn't through a status symbol. I sure miss the days of iPhone MEANING something. Now everyone has one... I want class separation again.

/s (hopefully obviously)
