My 6S+ still has zero lag and is totally fine after unlocking. I also, gulp, have encountered zero problems with iOS 9.0.
Best new iPhone and iOS release ever for me and I just had to pinch myself whist typing this.

My 6S Plus has this issue where sometimes there will be a black screen when unlocking. Clicking all buttons has no effect and its as if the phone is dead. Even plugging in the charger does nothing. I've had this happen almost daily so far and the only fix is to do a hard reset. I'm not sure if it's hardware issue or because I'm on 9.1

Same here, everything runs smooth. The only problem I have is a stupid backlight defect, but that's a hardware replacement.

Mine had serious lag and stuttering as well, nothing I've ever seen before. I then opened up an app showing CPU usage and the CPU usage was high. Normally it should idle around 3-10% without use but it was at a constant 40% and spiking up to 100% pretty frequently. Unfortunately I couldn't see what process was causing this, but suspected it could be an iCloud sync issue so I went to Settings > iCloud, signed out from iCloud.

Waited for CPU usage to die down, which it did. Then re-signed in to iCloud and after a brief moment of high CPU, it's back to normal. Idles at 3 to 10% as it should and now it's smooth as silk.

Will update if occurs again.

Download an app like this: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/system-status-activity-monitor/id401457165?mt=8 (i'm sure you can find free ones too) and look at your CPU load and also Avg Load. I suspect those with lag and stuttering are also seeing the CPU being tasked by some process.

EDIT: Ok well that was short. Back to stuttering and lag after about 30mn. CPU again showing higher than normal activity, between 15 up to 40%, averaging around 15%. Not dropping back to idle like it was when things were smooth.

Guys, based on all the replies in this threads, here are my suggested fixes.

1. Those that encounter lag & stutter while generally using the device.

- If you just restored from backup, let the phone idle abit and the indexing and stuff should die down.
- Do a 'Reset All Settings' / reboot the device to clear the device up
- If all fails, setup the device as new without restoring from backup.

2. Those that encounter the 'unlock screen lag'

- Try out iOS 9.1 beta 2 public release.
- Have verified it myself and there is no lag upon unlocking device.

In 20+ hours of usage I have encountered two frozen screen episodes. Once whilst reading a website, the screen froze and then several seconds later the browser tab reloaded with the message 'the webpage had to close due to a problem' (or words to that effect) and the second time just now when I woke my phone and went straight to the settings menu. The screen froze and even going to the home screen and back into settings again it was still frozen. I had to close the app down from the multitasking tray and then all was well.

Neither of those events are dealbreakers for me as I came from the 6+ which was littered with such issues. However, it does still show that there's a problem here and again, coming from the 6+, I'm not convinced that Apple will ever (be able to) fix it.

Have you done a full restore without backup?

No I haven't. I really don't think that it would help with extremely intermittent screen freezing. This is obviously (to me) an iOS or hardware issue. The 6+ was way worse and no amount of clean installs helped.

Are you special ? Do the restore

I had same issues. 6S+ 128 AT&T. Freezing everything open up 2 to 3 seconds late. Seemed like my old 6+ was faster and smotheer. So I erased everything and set it up as new thru iTunes and now 12 hours later it's running smooth.
Havnt loaded any apps yet or pictures or music just want to see how it will be running thru the day. But like I said big difference from yesterday. Nice and smooth so far.

I updated to the 9.1 b2 on my 6s+ and it was awful. Regular lag and unlock lag. It was bad enough I decided to restore to 9.01.

So basically, you are on ios 9.0.1 with no apps installed, naked?

any unlock lag?

I had this lag on my 6S it was bloody annoying, did a hard reset the following day and now the lag has completely gone. I set up my phone as new and even with very little apps it was lagging/locking up. Thankfully that has all now passed and its buttery smooth.... :)

'sometimes' have noticed a 2second pause when unlocking(with touchID), screen is unresponsive for about 2 seconds. Its as if the OS was not expecting the touchID to unlock this fast and is waiting to catch up

6s plus, restored from backup. Have rotation lock on
