The solution to this problem was iCloud Drive and/or Siri Suggestions. Disabling both solved the severe lag on my 6s. I reenable Siri Suggestions but I kept iCloud Drive off.

I initially posted that the stutter unlock lag went away after upgrading to ios 9.1 beta 2

it worked! but felt that using a beta version made me feel more uneasy...

i placed my phone on recovery mode and decided to setup from new, downloading 9.0.1 from itunes and reinstalling all apps fresh.

gonna test and monitor

False hope. While the Siri Suggestions/iCloud Drive thing solves the problem temporarily. It comes back in the form of another process eating up CPU. This time Xcode reveals "backboardd" as hording all the cpu. The search for a solution continues....

I did this a couple days ago and it's helped my 6S quite a bit!

Did u do a full restore?
I did this a couple days ago and it's helped my 6S quite a bit!

When i did the above, installations for all apps went smoothly and all launched silky smooth.

FWIW, my lag that was apparent the first two days has essentially disappeared entirely.

the unlock screen lag?

Yes. I had the occasional unlock screen lag where the icons would then be frozen for a second or two, as well as occasional pausing upon tapping an app. All of those have stopped happening the past two days.

Well, i did a full itunes restore (not even restoring from settings menu)...reinstalled my apps and now monitoring.

left 3d touch on, did not enable touch id and did not use icloud(don't like it)

device still doing smooth

um yes,
i get stuck in landscape mode, unresponsive screen. Safari not being able to load w.e web page and crashing.

I have chatted with apple support, they sent me a link to view my actually hardware. Told me I needed to do a clean install to fix. I have done 4 clean installs and this issue is still occurring, and even contacted support again. Was told same up song and dance. Hardware is fine its your software blah blah blah bull crap.

place your device in recovery mode and do a full restore

I have already tried a clean restore and still having little hang ups and lags. I don't think its anything but iOS. Until we see an update I will just have to live with it. End of story.

It's not a fault with third party apps. Have you not read the thread? Clean installs suffer from this as well. It should be known and addressed, not kept out of the light.
Hey, back off the kid, if dumy says it's a non issue, who are we to question it.. He's Apple thru and thru, if anyone knows, he does..

Its not a big issue. I don't want people being scared off buying these amazing phones. Its fine if we keep it in this forum. It's a fault with third party apps only so Apple is not to blame.

Mind your own business. It's a real and significant issue. I've owned every gen of iPhone and I've never seen an issue this bad before. The lag and stuttering renders the phone unusable.

The only way to get this issue addressed is to speak up about it. I've already sent a bug report to Apple and I don't mind one bit if this issue explodes and is all over the web until the cause and resolution is found.

Now go back in the hole you crawled out from.

Unusable for about 2 seconds while the device unlocks. Annoying yes. But I wouldn't call this a critical issue. In my experience, it seems to be triggered by third-party apps trying to open as you unlock.

But if you really think your phone is unusable I suggest returning it until you're happy Apple can fix it.

I have a bit of lag and stuttering. It's not horrible and I just got it yesterday, so hopefully it irons itself out. More relieved that my screen isn't flawed :)

Whatever it is it only lasted a few hours after I got the phone and restored the iTunes backup. After that it's been smooth sailing. Evidently some people are having a problem but I bet most are not. If you don't have a problem you're far less likely to post about it. I only got into the thread because I did see that issue, but only temporarily. Why the issue persists for some users is a mystery to me.

No it's not a lag from just unlocking. It's a lag and stuttering throughout the system. Taps, swipes, launching apps, everything is affected. It even freezes and becomes unresponsive for a few seconds. A process or processes are bugging out and eating up CPU cycles. (backboardd, bird and suggestiond all culprits according to Xcode)

Stay out of this if you don't know what we are talking about.

I know what I'm talking about. My experience is just different to yours. I'd use the return policy if I was as angry as you apparently are about the issue.
