I had a bunch of lag the first couple days, but everything's running smooth now. The only weird glitch I still have is the first time I swipe for the spotlight search screen after a restart I have to swipe multiple times before it returns me to the home screen. After that it works like it should. I don't know if this has something to do with spotlight search being turned off, but it's a bug either way.

I've seen several posts where people say it gets better after a few days. I wonder if its doing some sort of indexing/encryption maybe on the memory storage and this is why we are seeing more 128s as this is the largest capacity and will take the longest?

No. I have had the issue since launch day

Humm. So some people it clears up after a few days, others fix it buy resetting all settings and re doing the finger prints, and others nothing works.

Lets see if Apple releases another beta on Monday.

No. I have had the issue since launch day

Yesterday I would get the delayed Status bar about 25 to 50 percent of the time. Sometimes up to 2 seconds. This am I've tried 20 times and it's instant every time. This issue is just weird.

So I've had my 6S for 5 days now, had the unlock/status bar lag several times (7-10) on Day 1, 2-3 times on Day 2, and never again since.

I've been using the phone heavily every day.

Will keep monitoring.

So yep-sure what 6S do you have? Size, chip and are you on 9.0.1 or .2?

Okay thanks. If I were you I would wait to update to 9.0.2 until next update from Apple.
I think all people in here with the persistent freezing problems are on 9.0.2.

I guess I am fortunate, as I'm not experiencing any of these issues. I received my 6S Plus on Thursday. I had errors backing up my old 6 Plus to my computer but had no problems with restoring my new 6S Plus. My new phone is acting just like it should with no lagginess, glitches and no reloading of tabs.

My screen seems a little on the cool side but no bleed through, blemishes or shadows.

My home button feels totally different than my old phone but everything works fine.

The headphone jack I notice is not as tight fitting as my prior phone. Everything works fine but it's loose enough that the plug will spin if bumped in any way. That wouldn't happen on my prior phone.

So have we concluded this is a software issue?

Only reason I'm curious is because I recently replaced my 6s plus for another one because of different issues, but it never had this freezing glitch that I now experience on my new phone

Trying to figure out if I should be taking this one back or waiting for an iOS update

I turned on "Reduce Motion" in accessibility on Sunday. I have not experienced any freezing or lagging since.
I still use TouchId to unlock my phone.

Reduced Motion seems to solve the issue, my Touch ID on occasion still takes forever to work though, having replaced my handset because of all these issues, and hey are still happening on the replacement, I can only deem it to be a software issue. The only thing that is a cause for concern is that other people don't have the issue, with many different iOS firmwares. Have we come to the conclusion its mainly 128GB models?

I think there are many people in this thread with 64 GB phones that is seeing lagging so I don't think the issue in 128 GB only

Random restart on first day of my new 6S plus. Disappointing to be one with this issue.

I do have restarts as well in my i6S+ 128GB SG, the unlock lag is present also when using Touch ID. Then we can add that my device just freezes randomly, and that my brand new phone came with someone's hair inside the camera. And I have the Samsung Chip too...

I think i'm the winner in this competition :D

PD: I have an appointment with an Apple Genius to solve all these problems in 2 days, we'll see what it turns out. For the moment i've got back to use my old i6 because the new phone is absolutely unusable.

Good luck to you and please poke everyone at the Apple Store and tell them about this thread

I was so disappointed yesterday finding out the 9.1 beta 5 does not solve this. I find it difficult to see what other issues with iOS and the new phones could possibly be more important to fix?!

I think we can live without the new/coming emojis till next update

I think so. We won't know for sure until the final release of 9.1

Hi All,

Wanted to chime in with my experience so far. I am also experience freezing and lag, but when this happens my phone rapidly disconnects and re-connects to my known WiFi networks.

I am coming from a Verizon 6+ to the a new Verizon 6s+. I backed up the 6+ and restored the 6s+ from backup. After restoring the 6s+, I instantly noticed lag and freezing. What I mean by this, is that when entering a password, i could type 2-3 characters before the phone would become unresponsive. After a 12-15 second delay, the phone would let me again type 2-3 characters before locking up again. At first I figured, it was because it was indexing, I left the phone on my desk to "let it do its thing." However, when I came back, the same issue was occurring.

After further inspection, I noticed that my phone was rapidly dropping and reconnecting to my home WiFi. I turned off WiFi and the phone began to function like normal or as expected. I turned WiFi back on and had no further issues. That was until I powered my phone off and back on (unrelated to this) and the same thing started happening again.

I have reset my network settings.
Called Apple and did a full system restore then restored via backup.
Exchanged the phone for the same model.
Reset network settings again.

The issue is still persistent and consistent. It seems to happen anytime I connect to WiFi from LTE (home to work and vice versa).

Anybody here experiencing the same type of situation?

Edit: Running iOS 9.0.2

Many many more people have 128s here than 64s.

I can say, personally, I swapped out my 128GB that was experiencing lag to a 64 and my lag issues have all disappeared. I think here's an issue with the NVMe controller with the 128GB flash configurations.

Try setting up as new and running without a backup, two phones with the same issue on the same backup...
