Yes, using Touch ID. And no, no lag with Touch ID after everything I did with restoring.
So your theory is restore from iTunes and set up as new with apple id and touch id all set up. But just no restore backup? And overnight sit then next day we can restore backup?

In my opinion setting up as a new phone is far more likely to bring the problem on. Either upgrade to a newer variant of iOS, or restore to a backup.

In my experience, yes. I restored through iTunes, set up as new, signed in with my Apple ID and set up the one initial fingerprint during setup. Then I went into the Photos settings, turned on iCloud Photo Library, and put it down for the night. I did that the first time figuring I'd give iOS a full 8 hours interrupted to do what it had to do.

I did not then restore from an iCloud backup so I can't say how that would turn out.

Sorry for my bad english. I talk with apple today and they told me that they know the issue. They will release a software update late November there will fix the freezing issue.

Thank you for sharing.
Did you talk with Apple Support on the telephone or an Apple employee at an Apple retail store?

that's why i stay with 9.2 beta program. if they will fix it in 9.2 the fix should be involved in betas. I am running 9.2 beta 2 now but still same problem. let's see beta 3 will have this.

6S 64GB Samsung 9.1/9.2 PB2- Minimal lag. When it did lag it would be a split second and the functionality of the phone was not affected. Unfortunately this unit had what looked like a poop stain on the top of the display.

6S 128GB TSMC 9.1/9.2 PB2 - Back to the 1 second or even longer lag.

Just an update, after a few restores through iTunes the delay on my TSMC phone is down to a split second. Sometimes there is no lag or slow status bar even after long idle periods. After one restore the phone had a 1-2 second delay...waiting a day did not help. So another restore may very well extend the delay. Guess we just need to wait for an update for this temperamental software. Reminds me of when Apple admitted and said absolutely nothing before they released an update/fix for very problematic TouchID issues on the 5S.

At least there's no way Apple can ignore a 61 page thread on MR right? Wouldn't mind seeing a mention on the front page.

I erased the phone for a second time, but this time I did not import all my 800+ (unread) mails from gmail (I only linked the calendar and contacts). For some reason that fixed it for me. Sometimes I still get a 0.5s lag after using touchID, but that's before the animation of the app buttons appear. I'm okay with that.

Still lagging even on the beta, any type of lag is still lag. Didn't have this issue on the 6 plus, yeah the overall phone was slower but didn't have Touch ID lag, status bar taking max 5 seconds to appear etc etc, a bit **** for a £800 phone.

Bought a 6s Plus yesterday and had the lag after using Touch ID but that seems to be fixed with 9.1.

The problem I've had about 10 times today is random, intermittent times when my screen becomes non responsive. The home button and volume keys work but the screen won't accept any input until I push the power button, turn the screen off, then use Touch ID to log back in.

This is driving me nuts, is there a solution to this, or is this potentially hardware driven and I should swap at my cell carrier for a new phone?

welcome to the club. read thru this thread.

I read a lot, although not every post. Most seemed to be about lag vs the screen not being responsive so I must have missed those.

Is there a general consensus on a solution or are we just supposed to be ok with $850 dollar phones acting worse than my old 5s? Are people thinking this is a software issue or are people swapping phones with success?

I did the initial setup from a backup but haven't restored. I'll try that tonight. Is it ok to still restore from icloud after restore?
It's all about trial and error. I don't think one solid thing has worked for everyone.

My best results have been using no backup at all, restoring to 9.1 and setting up as new via iTunes.

does that mean you have to manually download all apps manually and lose all of your notes, and other data?

Apps manually yes, but you just go through your 'purchased' section in the App store, highlight all the apps you want back on your phone, and then go to make yourself a coffee. Hardly demanding work. As for notes, contacts and calendars etc, they're all synched from iCloud.

So then it's just a matter of downloading all apps again and reorganizing them on your home screen? Is that it?

I would just wait till 9.2.
I have to turn my screen off and then back on literally every 2-5 minutes. If this were my first apple product I would return it and never buy another product from them again. This is absolutely absurd.
