iPhone 6s plus 64 Gb (space grey)

Same problem when configured as new iPhone (no restore).

My fix so far:
1 - Restore and update to 9.1 with iTunes (no OTA update).
2 - Remove all configured touch id fingers;
3 - Try unlock the phone with passcode (0 fingers configured), no lag.
4 - Configure one finger, tested, no lag;
5 - Configure 4 fingers and so far no lag.

Cheers,

Just added another 6S Plus to my family (this is the 4th if you count the previous two returns)

This one had 9.0.2 out of the box. Updated to 9.1 over the air. Looked good for a while then had a couple freezes when unlocking and one spontaneous really quick reset. It went black, Apple appeared, and was back to the home screen in under 10 seconds. Weird.

I'm pretty sure all my others were Samsung. This new one is a TSMC. All Sim-free models.

I might just give this one till tomorrow to see if it levels out. If not, I'll try an iTunes restore like I did on my others.

I've restored but getting this brief pauses and freezes. It looks like i need to setup as a new phone which is a PITA! Why do I have to setup as a fresh phone every time... so many threads of people saying 'yeah, it's ok, do a restore, it's totally fine'.

Is anyone else getting these issues?

Ive restored a couple of times for other reasons, and apart from the 'slower feel' of it especially coming back from Android, havent noticed any lag at all. I'm on 9.1 at the moment.

Any fix on the Camera Lag when you first open the app....?

Oh crap. You had to mention that didnt you! I get camera lag sometimes and it appears to freeze for a good few seconds before being usable :(

Not a huge issue, but I guess can be annoying if you lose the moment of taking the key shot :(

at this point, there is no real fix for everybody. wait for 9.2 to see if they fix it. or try every methods peeps reported here. So far i believe this is a ios9 issue.

a combination of 'bloatware' and underspecced hardware = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for Apple selling the next gen :)

"Frequent listener, first time caller" to this thread. Have you people that are having so many problems tried starting from scratch incrementally loading whatever crap you've loaded on your phone to see what might be contributing to the problem. I have a 6s Plus that I use heavily on a daily basis and not had any of these pausing, lagging, freezing, problems that some have in here. It has to be something you are loading, or its defective, if its not happening on all devices.

Seems to be related to restoring from backups. I set my 6S Plus up fresh from the start and likewise have had zero issues that are reported here.

many of us have this issue out of the box. you don't have issue doesnt mean other's have defective devices. Hardwares have tolerance. If SW doesn't support hardware properly this tolerance can cause issues.

I've had four different 6S Plus phones. All sim-free, 3 Samsung, 1 TSMC, and all have given me the same software issue. I've tried everything. The only thing that works is repeated clean restores and setting up as new as many times as it takes to get it to stop freezing upon lock. My latest was great for most of the workday, then in the evening I started getting the freeze. I did a clean restore in iTunes, but again got the freeze.

I just did a DFU restore and it's only been an hour or so but I'm taking my sweet time installing anything. Only when it's been good for 24 hours will I start loading more apps. Right now I have the essentials on I need for work, which are Google Drive, Google Sheets, Acrobat Reader, Google Keep, CloudMagic Email, YouTube, & Puffin Browser.

I setup as new as well, but that doesn't mean that people aren't loading crap to contribute to it. These are complex devices so could be a combination of things.

"Acceptable" hardware tolerances don't include having lag, freezing, pauses, etc.. If it is a hardware issue, that would be a defect. Given that some people have tried several devices bought at different times and had the same problems, the likelihood that its not something they are loading or doing, is very low. They would have to be the most unlucky person on the planet to randomly fine several defective devices out of millions sold.

I would try not installing the Google crap, and certainly try not using an alternate Email client or browser. These apps do things behind the scenes and could be ill behaved and tying up resources. If you really want to solve the problem, you've got to start with a clean slate and see when the problem is introduced. Otherwise you'll keep chasing your tail.

Trust me, I've been up and down the block with this thing a few times now. This is phone number 4, and I ended up making all the previous 3 lag-free. The Google Apps, CloudMagic, etc are not causing a problem. I've installed them enough times on the other 3 to know they are blame free. All that said, I wish I could say exactly why X number of restores finally makes the lag and freeze issues go away. But for me, once it's gone it's gone. Now, I'm not saying I never ever see a graphical stutter. I expect that. Maybe I shouldn't, but I spent years with Android so in contrast this is buttery smooth. The thing that makes me lose patience is unlocking the phone to do something and having the phone not respond to touch for 5 or more seconds. I'll get this one worked out as well if it's not already...knock on wood.

Sometimes nothing is responsive. Literally can't click a thing. This is a serious issue.

I had these problems to when i used a backup.
After that i decided to do a fresh install. No more hickups after that. Works perfectly now.

wowerz my 9.2PB just started locking up out of nowhere last night and its been very laggy all over the place.

I still get unlock lag on my 6S+, but it's inconsistent. It ranges from no lag to several seconds of unresponsiveness to anywhere in between. I'm still waiting for a software fix.

Last I read 9.2 isn't coming out till next year.

I've been experiencing that the last two days. And in the last 12 hours no notice of the lag. Phone feels like it's finally working properly. Everything enabled with four Touch ID prints registered.

What is a DFU restore ? Thank you

Entering DFU Mode on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch...
Plug your device into your computer with a USB cable.
Turn off the device.
Hold the Power button for 3 seconds.
Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds.
Release the Power button but keep holding the Home button.
After about 15 seconds you will be alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode.
Then do a restore / set up as new via iTunes.

It's basically a way to make sure the phone is completely wiped with an absolutely squeaky clean installation of iOS is installed on it.
