My lag has been gone for the last 24 hours. I may have seen the time stutter once. But I've been posting for awhile. This is the cleanest it's been since getting it on launch day. 9.2.4

Seems to be related to restoring from backups. I set my 6S Plus up fresh from the start and likewise have had zero issues that are reported here.
I set up my 6s plus as new twice and I still have lag and freezing and I got my phone last Sat. And apple didn't want to replace it. I've had this phone for less than a week. :( Plus the call quality is worse than it what it is on my 6. I don't have any freezing or lag on my 6.

Oh crap. You had to mention that didnt you! I get camera lag sometimes and it appears to freeze for a good few seconds before being usable :(

Not a huge issue, but I guess can be annoying if you lose the moment of taking the key shot :(
I see this on a 6S too if it matters...How did Apple get here? This behaviour was purely the characteristic of Android phones.
Does anyone know if the latest beta solves it since it probably is a software issue

Everyone should restore 9.1 from itunes. I seriously think that whatever image came from the phonr has some issue that is causing all kinda lag.

Mine freezing and hanging iPhone has been replaced by the reseller. The one I have now is good. No more freezes.

The Apple forum also has a large thread on the topic. Surely it's on their radar?
I'm sure it's happening to a ton of people - I know of others who just thought it was 'normal'!

I'm sure it is. But knowing a problem exists is only step 1.

For me i backed up and restore 9.1 first and then restore backup fixes lags. So far 3 phones like this very consistent. Out of the box always ****** laggy.

Please explain??

I back up my handset and then do a full restore of iOS 9.1 on the handset via iTunes, from a fresh download etc.
Handset still lags when unlocking.
I restore my previous backup - still have the Touch ID /Unlock lag.

My previous iPhone 6 Plus never lagged whatsoever - I can use that backup, restore to the 6s+, an then still get the unlocking lag.

So frustrating. If I hadn't of sold my previous 6+, I would have returned the 6s+ by now.

Give it a day or two. Also i update it to 9.2 beta 4. Lag is noticebly reduced.

Than why not just turn it in for the 14 return period, than get another that day or when your account has been credited

Lag is pure ios issue. Dont waste your time and energy for exchange.

Agree with this.
Apple will only exchange it with a 'service unit' anyway, it won't be a new retail box (even though they say its unused and new etc).
I wasnt happy with this so I sent my first unit back for a refund and ordered another.
Second unit had the same issue.
Sent it back for refund and picked up a third unit from a local Apple Store.
Third unit has the exact same issue.

I also conclude its not a hardware related issue - its something software related.
Given up replacing and reseting up the phone - waiting in hope that iOS 9.2 fixes it!!

Interesting it's an iOS problem because I'm on 9.1 and have never had any lag, stutter, freezing, etc. This is the fastest and smoothest iPhone I've owned.

I have none either after do some restore. Thats the thing. Its random and we dont know why.

Which is why I've said that its most likely some combination of apps and usage that is causing it. Could even be carrier related. For a person to randomly get several iPhones that have lag, when others buy them and have no lag... its something related to that person that is the root cause. People don't want to hear that because that would just make me a fanboy not accepting that Apple could be at fault. Certainly plenty of things are defects, but not seeing how this is one of them unless Apple has some problem in there that is allowing this combination of things to manifest itself as a delay. Hopefully it will be found soon if it is. In the mean time, if I were having this lagging problem I would try to figure out what I'M doing that is different from those not experiencing the problem.

Ok. this is exactly what i do to cure touch id unlock.
I had 3 of 128g 6s+ (samsung and tmsc chip. it doesn't matter!). All of them had a touch id lag out of the box with no extra apps installed.
I've done this to them and works every time. and I don't see more than 1 second of unlock lag.

1. make sure you are running 9.1. if your phone is new just update to 9.1 OTA.
2. fully back up in itunes with 9.1 running.
3. restore 9.1 in itunes(fresh install). leave phone connected to your pc.
4. when finish restore 9.1 restore your back up in itunes.
5. now you may still see some lag. that's ok.
6. update to 9.2 beta 4 in your phone. ( google how you do this if you don't know )

now give a day or two. if this doesn't work for you then i don't know. pray for 9.2.
