For me, the lag is reproduced when I put the display to sleep or let it auto lock with an app running. if I close all apps and then either put it to sleep or auto lock, unlocking 25-30 mins later produces no lag. Leave an app running in the foreground again and 25-30 minutes later I do get the 4-5 second lag after using Touch ID.

After my experiences getting a new iPhone 6 Plus last year at launch, I will never pre-order another iPhone and I will never update to the newest software as soon as it's released again.

Truly felt like a Guinea pig for Apple going through all the glitches and bugs. Really left a sour taste in my mouth for the first few months.

I understand that everything won't be PERFECT on a phone but we nitpick like this because Apple gives out the persona that they are superior, beautiful, and stable. That's why launching phones with bugs like this that take weeks/months to fix just isn't acceptable.

i have

1. reset network settings
2. reset all settings
3. hard reset the phone

issue still persists, especially when phone is locked for longer periods.

did you restore your phone from a backup?

are you on 9.0 or 9.0.1?

My 6s plus, restored from backup, was fine after it indexed for the first 2 hours. This happens with each new handset.

My 6s (non plus) is smooth as can be once unlocked, but as others have pointed out, unlocking the phone after letting it sit for a few minutes causes a 4-5 second delay where it does not respond to swipes or taps. I don't have live wallpapers turned on, and no, it is not still indexing. I also did not restore from a backup, I set the phone up as new.

It is not an indexing issue 12 hours later when you do not restore from backup. Indexing does occur and it does cause a phone to be sluggish, but it's sluggish the entire time, not just waking the phone up.

It's ok and I'll deal with it for now...the 6 with 9.0.1 is faster (after indexing) with unlocking. After I get the 6s unlocked and give it 10 seconds, it's super fast.

get ridiculous we have to wait 10 secs to start using the phone.

this issue happens only randomly when we leave the phone alone locked for a period of time.

i am wondering if this issue persists in ios 9.1 beta 2? Has anyone contacted apple support to report this issue?

I'm just saying I'm not going to bash apple for a bug. Bugs happen and if you've never programmed, you don't realize some uncertainties. Granted, I'm not sure why they could catch this a little sooner, I'm just saying I'll deal with it for a few days to a week of they can work out a way to fix it...I did however notice that all my Bluetooth issues (super slow to connect and change songs) in my Audi is now blazing fast with the 6s, so maybe I am just pleased with that annoyance being fixed.

My 6 Plus (non S) does exactly this. Could be some sort of issue related to the downscaling it does to 1080P since the 6 doesn't do it.

Another thing the 6 Plus does, swipe down to bring up the search bar and rotate the screen 90 degrees to landscape. It lags/stutters every time. Does the 6S Plus do that?

I put this in a thread of its own but I'll leave it here too.

Wow, that's unusable...mine is on the 6s and only after the phone has been asleep for about 15-30 minutes. It then lags and freezes for 10 seconds or so. Once it catches up, it's usually good.

And it does this until I restart. Then once I use control center in landscape it starts over again.

Is this issue maybe related to the storage size? Does everybody with the problem has a 128GB 6s / 6s plus?

I do as well, had the lag, but setup phone as new fixed it for me. Three hours setting up phone again wasn't fun though.
I know, I went through that this afternoon. I didn't restore from a backup, I set it up as new from the beginning, and still have the unlock lag. I really don't want to try setting it up as new again, and go through another few hours of setting up, only to have the same thing happen again.
