To really confirm this is a software issue, you should take two phones: one with a yellow tint, one with a blue, apply the same tweak to both and see if they still look different. Something tells me this is a hardware issue, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

The app lets you change the screen to any color you want. So if I can take away yellow, I can add yellow. Not sure what doing it on a whiter screen would prove.

I don't know if it's in fact software. I do know the tweaks works if you want to control the warmth and coolness of the screen.

Right. I've played with this tweak and you can do whatever color settings. If your screen was not yellow (my case) you can make it even cooler if you like this tint. But then you would need to think about how the result reflects natural colors.

I did it just enough to remove the tint, nothing drastic. Made it more like my 6.

Beats the swap out lottery when everything else on the phone is perfect. :)

Apple sources LCD panels from different suppliers so naturally there is hardware variation. This is old news; what's left to prove?

So I *MAY* have found a solution. I've just set it up. I've not yet been able to see if the ambient lighting thing kicks in and screws it all up, I'll report back. But so far I was able to get my screen back to a whiter tone that I like.

You MUST have a mac for this. I don't think I can help much if you get errors, as I just followed this video. I did have an error about icon size, but it did eventually install the app on my phone, which is running 9.1. Someone else may have linked to this earlier, and if so, thanks.

http://www.besttechinfo.com/get-f.lux-on-ios-9-or-ios-9.0.2-no-jailbreak/

Once you get it installed, go to the COLOR option. What I did was set my sliders like so. I imagine it will change based on your existing screen temp and your personal likes.

Red - 9.39
Green 9.39
Blue 10.00

The key is to keep the Red and green the same. Try different numbers for your own tastes. The sliders are really finicky however. This has taken the yellow tint off my phone. Will it stick when the temp changes? Who knows. But it's a start.

LOVE this tweak but I disabled keychain sharing for this app in xcode... not sure why it would need it... everything else in the code *looked* okay to me. Loved it so much that I even threw it onto my iPad. This should absolutely be part of the iOS settings app.

Fully agreed. The volume of unit returns would be reduced by having this tweak as a native setting in iOS. I saw this setting in a couple of Android phones and it helps to make everyone happy with his screen.

This was my biggest fear of leaping to 6s+ today from 6+.

I've seen 6+ that are yellow and dingy too.

delighted to report this one has an even purer white than my 6+, which I was more than satisfied with as an understatement. posted in another thread but comparatively my 6+ has the slightest red tint, but nothing out of control and certainly nothing yellow.

my air2 64 i got earlier this week too is PERFECT

My luck for now has finally turned around

Maybe it's a mental trick but I have noticed the silver iphones make the screen look yellower, whereas the black iphones make the screen look more white.

What color is your 6S+?

The screen on mine has a very strong yellow tint, it's not uniform either but that doesn't show very well in photos. If you use it on it's own without comparing the screen it's not to bad, but the top to 70% of the way down is ok, then the tint gets a little yellower. Bloody horrible screen compared to my 6 Plus which in person looks pure white. Looks a little red in photos but in person it's perfectly white and uniform.

Have arranged with Apple to get myself an express replacement. Could have returned it but then I may have been without it for 2 to 4 weeks while they get more stock. Plus my Apple Watch would have been useless in the meantime as well as my mum now has my 6 Plus. She loves it coming from a 5s.

Replacement should be at my door in 1 to 3 days.

I will be glad when Apple finally uses OLED then almost all screen issues would be fixed overnight.

6 Plus on top, 6s Plus on bottom.

If I'm honest, I prefer the right screen. It's not a dirty yellow, that piss color. It's a beautiful bright screen that has more pop and looks more accurate reproducing most colors compared to blue.

Anyway, who says blue is better? I'm not accusing anyone personally, but having read this whole thread I get the feeling that some are just going for blue as better because that seems to be the consensus of the majority or the old school way or something that people are used to.

Lol I can't believe this thread.

You people have no idea what you're even complaining About

Here is a blue screen compared to a "yellow" screen

The "yellow" screen is more accurate and a better representation of real life.

The "yellow" screen only looks yellow when compared to the blue screen which is NOT the correct colour.

If you think the blue screen is the correct calibration then you're stupid. It's too blue and the colours are off. And yet, you have these same people crying that samsungs phones are over saturated.

Jesus Christ.

Agreed.

Just got my iPhone 6s. Can anyone tell me if there is something wrong with the screen. The brightness has been set to 40-50 percent and shot in the dark. I feel the top part is darker than the rest of the screen. Don't know if this is a good picture to illustrate that. let me know if there is a proper way to tell.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you

Sorry but your photo is broken. so no way for us tell tell you if something is wrong.

Fixed. Thanks for letting me know

That seems pretty normal for this batch of phones, based on everyone here. All you can do is take it back to apple if you are not happy. I posted a tweak that allows you to tweak the color temp of your phone, but I am not sure if it will help an uneven display. Worth a shot if you have a mac I guess. I had a 6s+ that was almost exactly like yours, but I swapped it for a 6s (the 6s+ was just too big for me to carry around), and ended up getting one with a uniform, yet much yellower at times display. Seems like QC is all over the place. I get that maybe they went with a warmer color, but these half lit/half dark ones are not acceptable.

Looks fine to me.

The top part is definitely darker. And the bottom left seems darker as well.

Thanks. This is the second iPhone I've exchanged. I don't know if it's genuinely an uneven display or my eyes are playing tricks on me lol. I'm buying it for my brother who is overseas and they don't have apple shop where he is so i have to make sure the screen is "normal" so to speak.

After going through 8  (yes 8) iPhone 6's (same display as 6S) to try and find a great screen with no unevenness or yellow or dark corners, dust, and/or smudgy blotchy spots, I can say I'm pretty experienced in this department.

If you don't notice it under normal use keep it!!! You're very likely to get a worse one! If it's minor keep it. Learn to live with it. It's just the way the displays are this generation. They all mostly s u c k. I've yet to see an even one. All of my friends phones and and family have some sort of display that has a funky part. The majority of people don't see it. But once you do... Hopefully the iPhone 7 changes the display technology. :)

If your brother is picky I would try another exchange. If not he probably won't notice or care that the screen is a little uneven. It would bother me as I'm in that picky category. I've learned to live with screens that aren't perfect but if the screen is accurately depicted in your photo, I would not be happy with it.

Returned my 6s for a refund today. Back on my beat up 5s... Really disappointed that I had to do that, but I won't accept uneven screen tints for a phone that cost me over $800. I have to wait 10 business days for the refund check, so hopefully by then the QC improves.

Can people examine their newer 6s screens for uneven tints? I would really appreciate it. :)

I have a 6s Plus and it's quite outstanding and a rare breed from other iPhones 6s I've seen out in the wild. Does this look like what you want , Viper?

That looks really good from the photos! Could you perhaps try a test for me? If so, here's what you should do:

1. Get an image of pure black from Google, etc.
2. Load this image in the Photos app or your preferred viewfinder.
3. Set your display to max brightness and make sure that only the black screen is visible.
4. Look for any obvious spots that are brighter than other areas.
• My 6s had really bad patches that almost looked yellow near the top right.

Thank you for those photos!
