Concerning this expedited and overnight issue:
I can only tell you from my experience with apple watch SB SS 42mm - Shipments are sent once they are ready from China to ship. I tracked the watch and and saw which flight it was first placed on from Shenzhen, watched the flight has it had mechanical difficulties and returned, placed on next flight to Anchorage, changed in Anchorage to Louisville. and which flight then on to Florida. Delivered that day. It was shipped as fast as they could. Its not like a product sitting in a warehouse and UPS does ground or 2 day or overnight shipping. They are sent the fastest way possible. Use this site to track progress once yours has a tracking number. I realize that some are hoping that somehow yours gets on the first pallet placed on the plane, but I don't think yours are actually being "expedited" any faster than any others in the same time frame given. I used UPS Choice to find all the scanning times for the package.

FedEx doesn't deliver Saturday?

sadly no. They usally ship with next day air. which means next business day. so yea i always get them on monday even tho they have arrived at my town since friday night. i suppose you could go to the hub(if it has as customer window) to ask for it...

This whole premise of expediting a pre-order is flawed and so unlikely. If it were possible, all service reps would be able to request it rather than a select few with some special knowledge. It's much more likely they are doing something unorthodox that's changing the status in the system so that it now displays a modified delivery date, but that is all. Nothing has really changed. Also, with the huge, and I emphasize HUGE, number of phone shipments they are processing, it's highly doubtful, a handful with "expidited" shipping could be singled out to bypass the established shipping method. All the pre-orders get shipped the same way and originate in China. That's the established pattern and there's nothing to indicate Apple has altered this approach.

The quoted delivery dates we currently have may well be a beaten and we will get the phones sooner, but those set to arrive on launch day are already being staged for shipment and that number will not be increased, unfortunately.

As for why the model iPhone with the most praised color and features should not be included in the initial shipment for launch day is a mystery, but perhaps the combination created a delay while being manufactured that could not be overcome. Let's hope it was solved.

Just my two cents....

In my experience the carrier doesn't control the shipping. The phones are shipped directly from Apple and have nothing to do with the carrier other than them passing along the order. Apple is not going to ship your new shinny phone ground in 3-4 days thats just BS. If your phone is ready to ship they will overnight it or next day.

I've been ordering phone on launch day forever it seems and I can tell you that expediting doesn't matter. If you've tracked phones before you would know that most if not all pre-orders are bulk shipped from China, enter through customs in Alaska, then proceed to the UPS main hubs and finally onto the local hubs where they are then delivered next day. All you are doing with the expediting is buying piece of mind. I have a 3:10am email confirmation for a jet black 256gb 7 plus with delivery dates of 9/27-10/3. Those dates are system generated based on expected supply and the standard system algorithm. Expediting appears to move the dates in the system because it adds the average express time to the in stock date vice the standard time but it doesn't matter because they ship all pre orders express and those of us that still have 9/27-10/3 will get our phones the exact same day as those that think they moved it up.

From what I have read over the years there is no point whatsoever to getting expidited shipping on an Apple pre order.

It's just something the customer reps do to pacify impatient people.

Maybe I'm wrong but once orders leave china they are on their way straight to you.

thats a reason why i love ordering through apple during preorder it comes str8 from china.

I haven't preordered a phone since the 6. I did preorder the Apple Watch series 1 when it first became available. Then you ordered in on April 10 and they didn't ship it for two weeks. I was quoted a delivery date of 24 Apr - 08 May for the watch, with the 24 Apr being the launch day of it. Unfortunately, I remember that I didn't receive my watch until 29 Apr.

Just throwing all of this out there. I don't want to bring people down, and I know this may be different because of the hype in the watch then.

Continue to think happy thoughts. We just have to remember that we will be getting our phones......at some point.

I was offered to have my shipping expedited by surprise on pre order day. I told the Apple representative that I would be moving on Oct 1st, and I needed to change shipping address. He instead offered the next day shipping from the 9/26-10/3 to 9/22-9/29 to make sure I get it on time.

This makes me believe they are expecting earlier shipping dates, or he would have just changed my shipping address to the new proper one on my AT&T account.

There would be no point in causing a potential loss of product in the mail or customer refund if it weren't planned for a sooner date.

Glad to see some other reasonable people have showed up in regards to the expedited shipping.

We will all get our phones the same time that's how pretty orders work. Now some of you just paid an extra 6 bucks for nothing, which is fine if it makes you feel better.

I fully expect that a lot of us 9/23 people will start to see movement on our orders Monday or Tuesday.

I wish Apple would stop responding to all these expedited shipping requests. Stop bothering them with that questions. ITS NOT GOING TO GET HERE ANY QUICKER. You had a highly desiraable configuration and now you have to wait. That's how the game works.

Let them learn the hard way. Let them keep calling and sometimes paying more for the shipment that is Next Day Air anyways. It makes them feel like they are doing something.

i am not going to say that the expedited shipping thing is true or not (although my dates did go from 9/26-10/3 to 9/22-9/29) but you guys are such a bunch of sour bastards. The bigger the chance that this doesn't mean anything, the funnier it is to me that you are having these fits of jealous rage. grow up.

Sounds like you need to grow up and are acting like a spoiled child. You crossed a line with the bastards comment. Veronica Wants her iPhone now. We're just stating fact all pre orders are shipped express.

There's no expedited shipping.

If people want to believe there is expedited shipping, can we just let them have that? Maybe it makes them feel better about the wait.

If people want to believe that there is no expedited shipping, can we just let them believe that?

No one knows for certain of anything since both parties are getting mixed answers from Apple reps.

Chill out people, and quit with the name calling. This is supposed to be a fun exciting thing, not pouting about because people don't believe what you're saying is correct.

Agreed - they can believe whatever. However, they are taking up valuable time of Apple Support personnel that could be used for persons with legitimate problems.

What's legitimate to a person is very subjective. I didn't realize you were the authority on legitimacy of problems lol.

lol @ all this shipping talk.. They all deliver the same, just as they have every other year.. SMH

Except this year it's only the jet black 7 plus that has been delayed a week back for everyone like this whereas all the other models or plus or normal 7 aren't.

Standard shipping is regular ground. Expedited can either mean 2-day or next-day, I've seen people upgraded to both at no charge and it's pushed their date up over a week.

That said, who knows about jet black +s.
