this is messing with my brain!!!!!!!!!!!now their back

yea:D

stores in newcastle still have them i rang several tonight. and they have around 40/50 each. but no word one when they would be getting any 8gb ones in if any.
3g model in june i think but hoping for May.:d

It appears that the first batch of checks will be released this coming Monday the 28th of April.

Sadly that doesn't apply to me because I owed them some money so I have to wait for the paper check. Current estimated date for shipping my check is the 2nd or 3rd week of May.

I just thought about something - what if Apple releases 3G before 2.0 so they aren't deluged with new stuff all at once? I mean, if you release 2.0 and 3G all at the same time you're going to be stuck fielding problems with both. I think it would be smarter for them to launch the 3G first, send out a .x update or two to fix little things and then launch 2.0. I see 2 really positive effects of this

1) You can generate a lot of buzz about a 3G version and with the promise of 2.0 software soon a lot of people will buy anyway
2) The enterprise market will be able to order bulk iPhones by the time 2.0 comes out because some of the demand will have died down in the month between release dates.

I also think it would be beneficial to get the 3G iPhone is as many people's hands as possible BEFORE 2.0 so they can get a feel for their phone, build up the demand for the games and apps and then release 2.0.

It's fairly typical Apple - why get only 1 chunk of free media when you can make two launches and get much more free media? ;)

8GB iPhone that I sold. I can't wait for a 32 GB iPhone. If they don't do it now I will buy the 16GB 3G iPhone.
My bet is that you will be disappointed! I would predict that 16GB and 32GB iPhones are coming, not a 3G version, that's all. 3G might be a requirement for Japan, but the networks have poor coverage (80% population in Europe), so 2G is still way more reliable. EDGE (not GPRS) is fast, certainly fast enough for a handheld device that is not used as a modem.

I bought mine yesterday from Loughborough o2 store, they said they had plenty and today they are sold out.

My friend ran in to Derby at 4.30PM and managed to get 8GB. If you want one, ring around nearby O2 stores, there may still be some available.

Bring on 3G, even though that will out-date me FAST. SJ should have known EDGE was already old news when it was released, I'm surprised they aren't being as cutting edge like they are with 802.11n.

I guess it was the lack of support in the US.

AT&T's 3G network in the US covers over 80 million people so I hardly think it's the drop dead God awful scenario that some make it out to be.

Also, it really was a battery issue. They knew the processor in the iPhone would render pages so much faster than any other phone that real world numbers would be fairly similar however people don't generally talk about internet speeds in terms of their processor so you'd have to hold one in your hand to figure that out.

You think 80% of the population of Europe is "poor"???

And no, EDGE is way too slow for the iPhone. Maybe it's fine for some run of the mill crappy free phone but I hate the EDGE speed compared to the WiFi at my house and 3G is about as fast as my internet at home (3Mbps).

I wonder how much prices will bottom out on the "old" 2.5G iPhone once the 3G models are released? If the software is the same and 3G is the only significant difference between the two, I might just see how low I can find a 16GB previous-generation model. It's not like EDGE networks are going away anytime soon for AT&T, and it would definitely give me a leg up to save for the time when the third revision of the iPhone is released. Things that make you go hmm...

Freaky. I ordered one for my friend on Wed...it came in the mail today and as soon as i power on my computer to 'activate' it i see this on front page. I go to the O2 online store to verify and sure enough...

You're less-than-one-year-old phone is obsolete and useless. It's your duty as an American and a consumer to ditch your ancient technology (remember--don't recycle!!) and purchase the latest and greatest product the moment Steve says, "boom."

If you don't buy the 3G iPhone than Al Qaeda has already won.

:p

...and make sure you file a class action lawsuit against both Apple Inc. and Al Qaeda.

I have an 8gb iPhone and it is simply not enough room. What I'd really like is 64gb

That is the biggest question to me is if there will be a 32 GB when they launch 3G. I am going to buy the 3G on day one no matter what and I wouldn't even mind paying $100-$200 more for 32 GB NOW. But, I have an eerie feeling that they might only do up to 16 GB now and then before Christmas release a 32 GB :( It would make sense if they did it that way, but I really hope not.
