Not to mention that we don't know if they're using the 1.3GHz A7 or the 1.4GHz as the standard, so that would make it an even bigger difference. It's not a smaller iPad Air 2 afterall. The A8 CPU and especially GPU performance is gimped. That changes my plan of getting the iPad Mini 4 since I like to occasionally play games.

A8
CPU: 1.3x faster

A8X

I guess so. Some people here didn't believe me when I said that Apple always prefers you buy the bigger iPad. Now with the iPad Pro, it's obvious that is the case, especially with the iPad Air 3 not making a debut, even with it being updated at least once per year.Is apple becoming more slim shady with iPad mini products/ or iPad in general?

I expect them to put all the latest technology in the Pro only from now on. That is the cold hard truth![]()
Honestly, it doesn't. I never planned on buying an iPad. I'm happy with using my Mac mini and iPhoneHow does that affect your buying now?
That is all true. I guess if you wanted to complain about anything from the iPad Pro, it would be that it is a bit thicker than the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4 and its cameras don't match the iPhone 6s's.Except for iPad Pro all the other iPads have compromises and/or defects.
iPad Mini 4 gimped SoC
iPad Air reloads from DRAM defiency, too big for one handed use but too small for two handed and productivity
iPad Air 2 screen distortion from holding the back and sound vibration flaws, too big for one handed use but too small for two handed and productivity
Only thing is iPad Pro is overpriced for what it is. I'll wait until after xmas to get it on sale for $599 for 32GB WIFI version.
That is an excellent point. Definitely something people should consider.I suspect many will pick apart the new offerings to validate their older purchases or at least try to talk themnself out of buying a new toy. A A8 2g chip is smoking fast for a mini iPad. Nothing else its size will touch it. Wait until the independent speed test come out before "should have done" speculations are made. In the world of compact tablets, Apple has given you a super model girlfriend and all some can do is complane about the color of her bikini.

Well, I ordered one (SG, 64G LTE)... I figure it will show up on the 17th. I'm guessing I'll be as impressed with it as I was with the iPad Air 2.
No matter, I found myself micro-managing 32GB. Looking forward to not paying attention to that, as on my phone![]()
+1 You hit the nail squarely on the head!Apple should list it in their specs list. It should be no secret whether it has 1 or 2 GB of RAM. By now iPads should have 3 or 4GB of RAM. Here we are trying to guess if they decided to be generous enough to give us 1 more freakin GB f RAM on our new 4th Generation iPads![]()
But isn't the lack of iPad Air 3 actually a good thing?...Apple always prefers you buy the bigger iPad. Now with the iPad Pro, it's obvious that is the case, especially with the iPad Air 3 not making a debut, even with it being updated at least once per year.

As you said, Apple pushes people to buy their biggest product so consider the specs of the fictional iPad Air 3 if it actually came out.
2015 iPad Air 3
+ Faster processor
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB Entry Model
- No 3D Touch
- No Pencil Support
- No Smart Connector
That sounds like a machine that would cause more regrets than benefits over the Air2. But now consider everything we get because we have to wait an extra year
2016 iPad Air 3
+ A10x chip
+ 4GB RAM
+ 32GB Entry Model
+ 3D Touch
+ Pencil Support
+ Smart Connector and established accessory market
+ Apples new 2016 gimmick
I sold my Air2 so I'm bummed there's no Air 3 but I think in the long run then the next iPad revision will be such a drastic upgrade that it will be Apples best iPad update ever.
I expect something similar: the A10 for the iPhones 7 and 7 Plus, the A9 for the iPad mini 5, the A9X for the iPad Air 3, and the A10X for the iPad Pro 2.Kind of agree, except I don't expect the Air to get an X chip again now. Unless one comes out early next year, I'd expect the air 3 to have A10 and I highly doubt they'll bump its ram to 4gb just yet. Got a good two years of 2gb left. If it's true the pro has 4gb it will simply be because of the whole 'two full sized iPad Air apps side by side' thing they have going at he moment.
I feel the pro will now get X chips, air standard chips like phone (with better clock speeds), and the mini will get last year chips. I.e pro 2: A10X, air 3: A10, mini 5: A9
Why would Apple have kept the 2GB of RAM secret? That would have been a good sell argument, so why not reveal it?
Since we are still in the game of prediction and speculation, I think it is still at 1GB.
