I am using the Acrobits SIP client with an Asterisk pbx here at work. We do not allow access from outside of the LAN, so I cannot register with your push server. I have been using it with moderate success with Backgrounder, however. The problem is that when Acrobits is active, it takes complete control over the phones system sounds, so that no other programs (IM, email, sms, etc) notification sounds work. Is there anything that can be done about this? Other programs that work in the background don't have this behavior - ie. if Pandora is running in the background I still get notification sounds.

I realize that this is not really a supported use, but it goes a long ways towards making it a fully usable program for me.

Though Acrobits Softphone is not tested with jailbroken phones, we have been notified of this issue from several users with jailbroken phones and hope to have a solution for our 3.1 release.

Oh man, that would be great. Bonus points if you could somehow bring a notification to the front so I could answer the call quicker! :)

Hi, I've been using iSip on my Iphone 2G for about a year with sip1.vif.com with decent results although could never get push to work. Before buying your app, can you comment on using AS with sip1.vif.com and push?
Txs.

I've decided to give it a try and set-up the App with my vif account.
Softphone works fine for calling or receiving while on but for the life of me I cannot get push notifications for incoming calls. Is there a setting I need to change or is it a problem with my SIP provider's server?
Txs again.

Nice to see that we no longer need to recompile asterisk for push notifactions... had to reformat my trixbox when i tried to mess with patching/recompiling....

By far one of the best voips apps out there for the iphone.. I just have a couple of questions/suggestios

1) Is it planned to increase the idle time your server stays signed on the sip accounts to more than 24 hours ?? Let says you give the user the option, just like in beejive that it can be let signed on on their servers for like up to 7 days or so

2) Is there a planned IAX support?? that would be a NICE feature to have :)

3) Im currently having issues answering calls with push notifications when Im inside the same private network as my asterisk (no audio), whoever if Im outside my LAN it does work wonderfull (3G or Wifi outside my LAN). Answering a call with the app running works fine, its just doesnt work when the call is transfered from your registration to the phone.

Go to the SIP Account settings and be sure that you have incoming calls set to "on with push" If you're still having issues, please contact us at support@acrobits.cz.

Hi,
I love your app. However, since I enabled Push Notification, my other SIP clients that are simultaneously connected to the same SIP account don't see the incoming calls anymore. Please advise.

Regarding your questions,

1) We've actually already increased it to 3 days. I don't see us increasing it again in the immediate future, but we may eventually extend it further.

2) Though it is definitely down the road a bit, this is something we are already considering.

3) This sounds like it is a network issue, possibly a firewall. Feel free to contact us at support@acrobits.cz for further assistance.

K thanks ill shoot up an email to support :D

While sleeping i thought of another nice to have :p Maybe if you could push notification messages regarding status of the sip server, ie cant connect, lost registration, registration expired, registered to server, etc, so we could know the status of the process you run. What do you think? its douable??

I love this App, but am having a prblem..... here it is:

I have a SIP provider called callwithus.com (btw, a GREAT and VERY cheap providor). It works on my Iphone with all other SIP Apps (Siphone, etc). But it will not work with Acrobits. Here is the problem:

It registers successfully, but will not make calls. I sent the log to callwithus support, and they told me the following:

The phone sends non-standard "Authorization" header which doesn't allow call
go through.

> Authorization: Digest username="933838410",
> realm="sip.callwithus.com", algorithm=MD5,
uri="sip:18005551212@sip.callwithus.com
> ", nonce="4b440a36000009578a015c5ddfe324b8ffa4e1f48b0d1a18",
> response="da5f930e316618d3f623f7721b9c648f"

Any way not to send this "non standard" header? I'm sure if it's a problem here, it will be a problem for other providers as well.

Update from my providor (for the attention of Acrobits developers):

An Authorization header should be sent in response to a 401 request. For an INVITE (in response to a 407 request) a Proxy-Authorization header must be sent. Acrobits Softphone incorrectly sends BOTH Authorization AND Proxy-Authorization headers in INVITE, which causes the problem.

I can strip extra Authorization header on the proxy before passing the request to backend servers, but I don't want do it. Let developers fix a bug in their software.

We believe Acrobits Softphone to be RFC compliant in this case and due to the extensive changes required to implement the change you're requesting, we probably won't be able to do this in the foreseeable future.

Great app,
I'm using it with sipgate in the uk to test.
One thing thou when I get a push notification my phone is locked. So I do the swipe thing unlock the phone but cannot answer the call as when the siphone program loads there is no call but i can make a call.
Am i doing something wrong?

Also is anyone using asterisk with cisco 7941 cisco phones? if so i could do with a bit of help.

Dave.

Is anyone able to confirm this softphone works with push notifications with www.pbxes.org virtual pbx? Thanks...

OK, I decided to buy it anyway... Overrall it's a nice app, but I am having a couple problems:

1. I am connecting to PBXes (www.pbxes.org) virtual PBX, which in turn is connected to www.voipfone.co.uk SIP provider, amongst others. Calls in and out work fine when the app is running, but push notifications are not working when the app is closed (they are switched on). On the PBXes control panel I can see the iphone still registered (presumably by Acrobits server), and it attempts to ring it, but no push notification arrives.

2. Registration to PBXes works fine when using UDP as transport protocol, but when I change it to TCP, as soon as the softfone completes registration it crashes/quits.

Thanks for your help....

After sliding to answer, Acrobits Softphone should open and you'll see a status box, "waiting for ring". If you're still having issues, please contact us at support@acrobits.cz so we can help troubleshoot the issue. We'll also see if we can help you with your other issue

1. I believe we already have people using Push Notifications successfully with PBXes so it should be working. Contact us at support@acrobits.cz with your username and we can verify if you are registering for push notifications.

2. We'll probably need the crash logs for Acrobits Softphone. We can get those when you email us as well.

An update to my problems with the push not working with PBXes virtual pbx. Seems there was some kind of minor incompatibility that Acrobits will be fixing at their end (though it wasn't really their "problem" so to speak). Acrobits email support was fast and very responsive indeed.

And just fyi, some good news:

http://www.acrobits.cz/2010/01/acrobits-softphone-now-works-on-3g/

Acrobits now works over 3G with no app update needed. I just placed an international call using Acrobits over 3G via PBXes and the call quality was great.

Just a happy customer....

Acrobits Softphone now works over 3G and Edge

We are happy to announce that Apple updated their developer agreement to allow VoIP over 3G. We were already prepared for this and you can start using Acrobits Softphone over 3G or Edge immediately, no update needed. Now Acrobits Softphone can be used virtually anywhere you can use your normal iPhone mobile number!

Ringer

Forgive me if this has been asked already, but I was wondering if it was possible to change the ringer in the app. If not, can we expect that in a future update we will be able to?

Thanks.

Agree completely, it is a very harsh ring. Would be nice to have the ring user-configurable.
