Unless I'm misunderstanding the request, you can already do this. I keep many accounts registered simultaneously. Gizmo5, sipgate, voipcheap, etc. I even have two separate GoogleVoice entries, one that dials out using my Gizmo5 account, one that dials out using my sipgate account. Acrobits Softphone has supported multiple registrations for quite a while.

All true. An alternative way to do similar is to use www.pbxes.com as a virtual PBX and have all your SIP accounts including Gizmo5 registered to that. Then you can just register Acrobits/Groundwire to pbxes. I think there are some advantages in both ways.

Since the most recent Groundwire update, I can no longer receive calls when the app is not in the foreground. I am on a private Asterisk server with no Push or Background ability, but for the last couple of months, I had been using it fine with Incoming Calls --> On, and Keep iPhone Awake --> Always.

Battery life was reasonable (as I only had to make it through an 8 hour work day - and with the iPhone 4 that is no sweat), and I got the pop-up to answer the call as expected. iPhone is stock 4.1. No changes have been made to the Asterisk server or to our internal network. Now, when calls come in with the program in the background, it either rings once on the caller's end, then just beeps, or just goes directly to voicemail.

Any thoughts?

what about push voicemail? Cant seem to have that working on my 3gs.

First, do you have Groundwire or Acrobits Softphone? Push voicemail is only available on Groundwire.

If you do have Groundwire, do you get the normal voicemail notification (next to the name of the SIP account on the keypad in Groundwire)? If the new voicemails don't show there, then they won't work with push voicemail either. The provider has to support the method we use to notify you of new voicemail.

Yes, Groundwire does show me the voicemail logo next to the SIP button when I have a new voicemail. No badge or push not though. Is that it? I was under the impression I would also get a pop-up notification as well. My server is sip1.vif.com.
Txs.

Maybe your provider only supports advising us whether or not you have voicemails, not the exact amount. I think the push voicemail will only work if your provider will actually tell us how many voicemails you have waiting. Can you send a screenshot of what the keypad looks like when you have voicemails waiting to support@acrobits.cz? In addition to the voicemail button showing, you should also see a badge with a number next to the title of the account at the top left.

I'm having trouble adding a sipgate account to softphone. I'm on a jailbroken iPhone 4 on 4.0.1, and for whatever reason I keep getting an error when I try to add my sipgate account. I have a google voice account added already and it works fine, but when I try to add my sipgate account the little phone icon on the upper left corner is red and says "error". I've tried intentionally putting in wrong data to see if I'd get the same error and instead I get "unauthorized". I've tried manually imputing a proxy website (sipgate.com"), and tried to change the proxy port to 5082 and 5060, nothing's working. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

I'm having trouble adding a sipgate account to softphone.

Double check that you are using the correct username and password. For sipgate, it will not be your web login, but your SIP ID and password. To get your sipgate SIP ID and password, log in to your sipgate account online. Go to settings. Scroll over the picture of the phone and click on SIP credentials. You should see your SIP ID and SIP password there.

To make sure all the other settings are correct, you may also want to delete the sipgate account and add it fresh using the preconfigured settings for sipgate. You should only need to enter your SIP ID and SIP password.

Using acrobits, google voice and gizmo5:

If you set incoming calls to "wifi only" and wifi is not available, will the call come through G3 anyway and produce a charge?

If the iPhone is off and push notifications is turned on, will the call wake/ring the iphone?

Thanks.

Feedback - fist use

The holy grail of Google Voice with those of us who have dumped AT&T data on our phones is getting it to work as a Voip service. Well I just happen to have a Gizmo account so now I've got a phone that can dial out (not free :( ) and show my Google Voice number!

Some feedback on the Softphone app:

Good
* very polished technically, lots of well though out options and nice visual favorites
* call recording - wow
* lots of options and I can use multiple services

Not so Good :(
* another slightly more expensive version has push for VMail. I would of bought it if I knew that but it's not clear anywhere :( now I have to buy the other version .......
* Push / Delay - someone calls me and I have to accept the push notification then there appears to be a significant delay between the program launching and accepting the call - this might be a deal breaker on my little iPhone 3G unlocked on IOS4.1, perhaps she it too slow.
*Push - what phone rings. I realize that this is a apple push thing but if the last device I used the product on was say my iPhone and now I running out the door with my iPad without iPhone and the phone rings, push is going to iphone

I don't really want to knock the product here, this phone is leaps and bounds better than other softphones (whistle but whistle is free!!) and also Billion dollar Skype that doesn't even have push yet!!! So if someone could explain why there is a significant delay when someone is calling me with goodvoice and explain workaround for the push that would be great. I'm assuming google voice is not a real voip number / provide and has to do the call back think so that's why there is a delay?

No matter what I do with sipgate, it always ends up charging me for incoming calls.
Yes, I have voicemail and forwarding turned off on the sipgate account, yet it charges me when I make a call through Acrobits' google voice.
Anyone else having the same issue?

Thanks.

This is a google voice thing; I think you have to make the call through google via the web interface and it'll call you back?? I'm getting pretty tired of google voice and it may just be easier to go with a VIOP company with a proper service and pay for it.

Delay when answering call from Google Voice

Ok, not sure if this program is going to work with Google Voice.

Major delay from the time push notification on the iPhone 3G tells you that there is a call, to hitting OK, then ANOTHER WINDOW POPS UP TO CALL BACK ????WTF, hit that button and then it attempts to answer the call. Pray that the callers call has not gone to voicemail, probably has! Hmmm back to square one with google voice and outgoing calls on wifi :(

@acrobits - do you have any guidance on which VoIP providers support g.729 codec?

I am considering buying g.729 add-on, in the hope of improving the voice quality over 3G. I just don't know whether my provider - Gizmo5/Google-Voice support this codec. I think Google Voice might be g,711 only.

Do you know whether g.729 with Gizmo5 will improve my quality over 3G, or would I be wasting a $10?

If you only use Gizmo5 with GoogleVoice, there is probably no reason to purchase the codec. Gizmo5 supports G.729, but not GoogleVoice (I think they only support ulaw), so you won't be able to use it. I believe there are some providers that will convert the codec so it will work (I believe sipgate may do this). But Gizmo5 only works with GoogleVoice with ulaw.

If you set it to wifi only, then a call will not come through when the Softphone is open and you only have a 3G connection.

You'll get push notifications even when there is no wifi available (we have no way of knowing if you are on wifi when we send the push), but the call should fail if you try to accept it.

I haven't had this issue myself. I'm afraid you may have to contact sipgate for this one. The GoogleVoice call should be an incoming call as far as they're concerned and I don't think they charge for incoming calls.

You may want to contact us at support@acrobits.cz to further troubleshoot, but I can give you a couple of ideas of the issue now.

Regarding the delay on push notifications, there are a couple of possibilities. First, push notifications are not as reliable on unlocked or jailbroken iPhones, that could relate to the issue, especially if the push notifications are more reliable on the iPad. It could be a network related issues, etc. It could even be related to your other issue, which device receives the push.

We don't currently support registering for push notifications on multiple devices with the same account. Usually the push will go to the device that the softphone was last open on. But even that can't be relied upon. At this point, you should only have one device using push notifications at a time. ON the other device, just set incoming calls to 'on'.

Feel free to contact us at support@acrobits.cz if you would like to further troubleshoot the issue with delays in receiving the notification.

P.S. If you only have GoogleVoice and Gizmo5, there is no need to purchase Groundwire. Voicemail notifications will not work with GoogleVoice or Gizmo5.
