I uploaded a video directly to youtube and the quality was lots lower than on the phone itself, does it do this to save bandwidth? How can I get the original quality video up there?

I've noticed peoples iPhone videos also have the HQ option, could someone expain how I go about doing that for my vids?

Thanks!

EDIT: oops, I've just gone a page back and read about it. Thanks!

Quality is great i have to admit, really looking forward to getting mine soon. BUT 640x480 isnt widescreen... thats abit strange these days where everything pretty much is done in 16:9.
Is there a setting that i can adjust to change the resolution?

So we can't upload directly to youtube in HD without jumping through hoops - iPhoto then iMovie? Is that true? It can't be because what would be the point? I uploaded a movie yesterday and it was so bad I instantly deleted it.

Shot this video at Glasgow Airport today - the quality of both the audio and video is unbelievable. I'm glad I never opted for the Flip Mino a few weeks back.

One thing to notice is how good the clarity of the mic is, its absolutely stunning.

Enjoy.

I'm pretty impressed with it. I jailbroke my 3G and that video camera was horrid. The 30fps on the 3GS makes for pretty good video, especially for a phone.

has anyone noticed that some of the videos that the OP merged in his first post are showing up with this now:

I'm curious, is there any chance somebody could do a comparison of Cycorder on a 3G against the 3GS camera app? I'm just wondering just how much better it is.

Why is it that some of the 3GS videos in Youtube looks wonderful, but some absolutely terrible?

Is there maybe some QC bad apples out there?

It might depend on whether it was uploaded via 3G or WiFi (or via PC), maybe the compression is different.

I just got my new Iphone last night and haven't tried the video yet. I'm leaving next week for vacation and I'm wondering if you can easily upload the video to Facebook from the phone? Thanks!

Asked this in a separate thread but figured this would be a good place too...

The 3gs shoots (natively) a .mov file which does NOT stream if downloaded. However - uploading to me.com, it converts it into a smaller file AND that .mov file does stream. So the phone itself CAN convert the video file (clearly)

Is there any app or will there be any app (do you think) that will allow you to do in-phone converting so, for example, I could upload a video shot to a news server which could immediately run the streaming video?

I'm not looking to stream live from the iphone. I'm just looking to upload a (converted) .mov file shot on the iphone to a server and avoid anyone having to be at the other end to convert it to a different format.

thx

b/c the phone compresses the video more when uploading direct versus uploading from your PC.

I meant only the videos, that are uploaded straight from the iPhone. There´s huge difference also among those.
