Its 1.27GB now.

I just bought it (downloadable) and it says that it is pending. Will I not be able to download it tonight?

Pre-ordered, expecting to be able to download today. :(. Called Adobe and they said that it would not release until the end of the month. I asked about the press release and the person knew nothing.

That sucks. I paid for the download too expecting it to be downloadable today at some point. The press release is verrrry misleading. You're not alone......

Same here, although I asked for the dead trees and polymerized dinosaurs version (ordered through Adobe instead of Amazon because they would do the upgrade version whereas Amazon appears to only have the full version).

Up until Saturday, they said it would ship on Sunday, March 23. Which, duh, was complete BS, as no one ships anything on Easter Sunday, primarily because the shipping co's don't pick up on Sundays! On Saturday, though, I logged in expecting them to have updated it to shipping Monday but with the odd hope that maybe it would have shipped Friday or Saturday ... instead, the wording completely changed to "Expected Arrival Date Wednesday, April 2, 2008"

So, does this mean it has shipped, and they enlisted the aid of a donkey-and-wagon-based Pony Express competitor? Or, does it mean they will ship it so that it arrives before a week from Wednesday? Or, does it mean that they will get a box to maybe ship to me in their fulfillment center next Wed and I should expect my disk in the mail sometime in May?

For a massive software company, they have some rather shoddy fulfillment processes ...

They do different things, Aperture is primarily meant to help organize your photos while Photoshop Elements is a photo editor. Aperture does support some editing features and Elements ships with Bridge, which is a photo organizer, but neither is as good in it's area of strength as the other. You have to decide whether photo organization is more important or photo editing is. There are trials of both (or will be as soon as the PE6 download goes live) so you can try them both out and see which you like better.

what is better Aperture 2 or Photoshop Elements 6?

Completely different products.

Aperture will allow for image-wide manipulations (tonal mapping, exposure correction, color correction and white balance, cropping, etc) and a few really basic spot manipulations (healing brush, cloning brush), but really shines when it comes to image cataloging and library management.

Photoshop Elements is for more complex image-wide manipulations (mapping to 3D shapes, etc), region-wide manipulations ("change the white balance we see through the window but not on the rest of the image"), plus all but the most basic spot manipulations (layer masking, etc). But, it's crap for managing meta data and image libraries.

Overall, I'd say PSE is worth a little more than its price to me, and Aperture is worth about twice its price to me, which in my opinion means Aperture is "better". Still, with only one or the other, my whole imaging workflow suffers.

Very lame.

Im canceling my order and just waiting for Amazon

The Mac version is actually an upgraded version. PSE 6 for Mac includes Adobe Bridge, the same Bridge application used in CS3.
Simplifying it's description, Bridge is a professional file organizer.
So how would PSE 6 for Mac compare to Lightroom in terms of organizing/tagging/enhancing photos for the non-professional?

And the same question for PSE 6 for Mac vs. iPhoto '08?

when do you guys expect cs4, Id say in a year, minor update
Other than switching architectures the updates are usually minor, they just introduce a few new features and slightly improve old ones.. Only ever worth updating if you know you'd use the new stuff..

I skipped 8, CS and CS2, but CS3 was really hard to pass up (and if I'd waited for CS4 I'd likely have been outside the upgrade license limits!)

I know they'll surprise us with new features, but what else is there left? you can load 3D meshes and paint straight on them - do weird video editing, they're obviously having trouble thinking of new stuff themselves. XD

Actually a new set of filters and layer effects could always be nice.

Just got the email stating that my download is now available (I pre-ordered my upgrade on Feb. 10). 14% done, estimated 27 minutes left to go. Can't wait to try it out!

I've waited too long for Elements. They took so long in releasing it for the Mac that I bought Pixelmator instead. It's more than good enough for my needs.

Hopefully better than Pixelmator

I have found that Pixelmator works every bit as good (if not better) (I am not affiliated). And it uses Core Image for the effects! And the UI is stunning!

I bought Pixelmator a while back and I'm just downloading my copy of PSE6 now. Pixelmator looks very pretty, but it's far too buggy and unreliable in my experience. Plus, the default UI was far too dark.

Same here, download only took about 30 minutes, all installed and just having a look around it now. Best off all, I only pre-ordered yesterday so did have to wait very long :D

Was going to get the download, then noticed it was MORE expensive than the dead tree/non-biodegradable shipped version.

Does that bit of bandwidth really cost more than solids, production and shipping? Not convinced. Adobe is penny pinching again

I downloaded, but can't finish install because the serial number is not displayed in the download center as it stated in the email from adobe....

Anyone else have this problem?

I've ordered my copy of PSE6 but probably won't get it for at least a week. Anyway, the route I'm going is using Aperture for library management and Elements as a photo editor.

The way I see it is Elements is a half-way step to PS. Ages ago I tried to jump into PS and was just lost (although more recent versions have probably come a long way). Elements is a great way to become familiar with layers and other concepts common to PS. Then, when and if the need arises and the bank account is flush then make the jump to PS.

Just got the email stating that my download is now available (I pre-ordered my upgrade on Feb. 10).

I didn't realize the upgrade was available as a download. When I pre-ordered, that option was disabled in the Adobe online store.

I downloaded this morning and I still don't have a serial number. I'm still on the phone with customer (dis)service and they are saying its a server problem and many people are having the same serial number issue.

I can vouch for that - still no serial number for me either. Their website seems rather buggy in general. When I click on "View Registrations" so I can see the products I've registered in the past I get "Sorry, this page is not available". I'm kind of wondering if I should have just paid the extra $$ and skipped this hassle... :(

I just got off the phone with support and they are NOW saying that I have to wait another 24 hours for a serial number. This is ridiculous
