Is there a way to still hear your txt message notification sound on the phone when paired to the watch? When my watch in on my wrist I only hear and feel the txt message on my wrist, and nothing on the phone. Once I take watch off and it becomes locked then the phone goes back to its notifications. Phone calls work both places ( phone rings as well as watch ringing )

Try changing the notification in settings to not mirror the iPhone. People are saying hay works.

I just use "Hey Siri" as a calculator.

I wish there was a reminder app.

I wish there was a "send to watch" option in my podcast app.

I don't understand why I have to touch my watch to send the dictated message. Why not just show "Send it?" and you verbally say "Yes" like the phone does. I don't care too much, but it seems strange.

Also, I wish the watch had a dot or something that indicated that it was currently not paired with my iPhone. Although, that's not a huge deal.

All in all, I am impressed with it though and am looking forward to seeing what it evolves into!

Does "do not disturb" mode essentially mute it? Like if I were at the movies?

It does.

That's weird because I have four Macs (3 home, one work) an iPad 2 and and iPhone 6 Plus all synced together beautifully. That's been my experience anyway. Maybe you're doing something wrong.

Bad home networks maybe? I never have an issue either.

Are you kidding? That's ****ing ridiculous. I get frustrated enough having to open Mail just to clear out notifications; why the hell wouldn't notification statuses sync between the watch and the phone?

Honestly, that by itself is enough to make me reconsider the watch at all.

Yes it does

Here's what I HATE:

* No Podcasts app. I like to listen to Podcasts in the gym and want to leave my phone in the locker.

I can get around this by changing the Media Type of the Podcasts to "Music" in iTunes, dumping them into a Playlist, and then syncing this to the watch with my phone. This is stupidly long-winded for what should be stupidly easy

* Bluetooth setup is HORRIBLE. I use a pair of Plantronic FIT. For the above to work, I need to swap the Bluetooth pairing between headset > phone, and headset > watch. This seems OK; the watch is able to grab the connection simply by clicking on the device. It falls apart when I try to re-pair the headset with the phone. I have to stick the watch into Airplane mode, just to shake off the connection to the headset, so the phone can grab it back.

TBH, the way the iPhone handles Bluetooth devices has always been ghastly. There's no way to disconnect the devices, you're simply forced to switch off Bluetooth or "Forget the device". But throw the Watch into the mix *which relies on Bluetooth to do 90% of things* and you have a huge mess. "Disconnect Bluetooth Device". Is that so difficult, Apple?

Switching Bluetooth headsets between two devices that are interlinked seems counter-productive anyway. A good idea would be for phone to be able to use whatever the watch is paired to output sound, then there would be no need to switch between the two.(Since the devices are co-dependent, nothing would be lost).

These are by far my biggest bugbears so far.

A lot of your problems are solved with Bluetooth 4.0.

It'll get jailbroken and you'll be able to project holograms of tupac in your room.

Be patient. When issues like the ones mentioned exist, if apple doesn't fix them, other devs will.

Ie iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS with video, slow mo, apps, notifications, multitasking etc.

I asked same thing in another thread. This seems to be the way it works by design. Taps the watch if you're wearing it; phone beeps for texts if you're not wearing the watch (no skin contact).

An option for both would be nice.

It'll show a red phone with a squiggle through it (where the red notification dot is) if the iPhone and watch are out of BT or wifi communication with each other.

Sweet! Thank you. I didn't notice it at work last night. Too bad it didn't give you a nudge or something. Although, that could get quite annoying.

Another thing that I found myself looking for on the watch was status on my iPhone. Like, what percentage battery life was left. I'm kind of surprised it doesn't show that information in the screen where you ping your phone. In due time maybe?

Mine tells me the time very quickly and since I opted for the Milanese loop, I didn't have to spend a thousand dollars.

Also? Tapping the screen switches the watch face on. Soooo...what's the issue???

There is no issue, enjoy your watch fellas...

Maybe I been on this forum for to long, or lack of sleep since I ordered the watch. But I read the title to this thread as (After 1 day heres what I "ate") lmao!

Thanks! I'm not expecting years and years of use out of this one (hell, I'll probably get the 2nd gen right when it's released), but for a first gen product I'm pretty impressed.

Seeing as its useless without an iPhone and Apple expects you to replace it next gen. I rather assumed it would not become an heirloom...

o Calendar app only shows current month. Cant go back or forward.

Still waiting on mine, but when my wife said there was no way to see other months I told her she must be crazy. But nope, she was right. I cannot for the life of me believe there would be a calendar app with no ability to change months. ESPECIALLY being at the end of April and I'm regularly looking at stuff in May.

I agree with a lot of that. Another peeve of mine is that when you put something into reminders using Siri, you still have to touch the watch to confirm it. You should be able to say "confirm".

Not at all. You can actually say "Hey Siri okay" and it will confirm the dialog.

I discovered this when I was dictating a reminder while riding my bicycle today.

Further experiments show that you can use the same method to "press" most dialog buttons. Just prefix the name of the button with "Hey Siri" and it usually works.

My main complaint is battery life. I used it today the first time for a full day. Took it on at 7 am and at 8 pm the watch went into power savings mode. Not great. Of course it was my first full day with the watch and I may have played more with it then I will in the future but actually not a lot because it was a busy day and I had plenty of other stuff to do. . .

Really? Today, i have had it on for ~12 hours and it still has 70% battery life. What are you doing with it?

One thing that I really hate about the Apple watch is this.

o Stuff doesn't sync. If i dismiss a message on my watch it doesn't clear it on the phone. i have to dismiss it there too. No surprise here Apple has always sucked at sync.

o Calendar app only shows current month. Cant go back or forward.

o No reminders app. No seriously.. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills on this one. Is it there? Am I holding it wrong?

o No haptic or sound if watch looses connection to phone. May be annoying for some but an option for it would be nice.

o Cant set the background of a watchface to a custom photo. So much for the whole "most personal device" thing.

o Cant play music through the watch speaker. Can only use watch as source with BT headphones.

o No onboard calculator app. I think this is kind of odd. Maybe I'm the one who's odd.

o The Mail app. Oh the mail app.... I can't believe my ONLY options are _1_ inbox or _all_ inboxes. I mean not being able to reply is bad enough but not being able to simply change which inbox I'm looking at? I mean come on meow.

... Having said all that. Loving the watch. :)

Been using my wife's phone as mine hasn't cleared processing yet.

- The Calendar stuff I'd imagine would get better over time. It's meant to be a glanceable device so I'm not incredibly surprised

- No reminders on the watch is just crazy to me. Same thing with Notes. Reminders piggy backs off of Caldev, and Notes piggy backs on Mail. The frameworks are clearly some what functioning on the watch otherwise Calendar and Mail wouldn't work. This is clearly a result of this being 1.0 of the OS. This would have to be fixed.

- Photos on the background I hear what your saying on. The display is AMOLED though, and it's an incredibly small display. Not having your watch throw up an image on the display when you put your wrist whether it be accidentally or whatever means a HUGE amount of battery life. I know what you are saying, but the use of AMOLED is to keep battery life high, and using all of the pixels like that really is wasteful of power. I think thats the big issue here.

- I just got done using the Apple Watch as a remote to play music from my phone and it worked fine for the headphones I'm wearing. The speaker on the Apple Watch would be nearly useless for listening to music. I don't really think this is an issue

- Calculator I some what agree with at first. But then I used Calcbot and uninstalled the app from my phone. We can argue about many different things but you can't get mathematical operations on the screen well with Calcbot.

- Mail inbox limitation seems like a limitation of it being a 1.0. It's also worth noting that the Apple Watch really is a secondary display for the iPhone, and meant for notifications. That seems like enough to hedge expectations. Quick in and out sounds more complicated if you have to hop from inbox to inbox from your wrist.

Is their another view I don't know about. Right now all I have it the month calendar that just shows the days. It doesn't show any events, and no matter what day I click on it goes straight to list view starting with today. Right now in list view I can see up to May 2nd.

I asked Siri and she said she can only access the next 7 days on the watch but she could help me on the iPhone.

I'm loving how many of these gripes can already be fixed by third party apps. Sure, native apps would be nice but we'll be able to run third party apps natively soon. I'm also loving watching a new paradigm develop and seeing how people learn what works. For example I tried out a handful of reminders apps, some only tell you how many overdue items you have on the watch, others only show you the next item on your schedule. Here what I've found helpful:

- shopping list using reminders : daily bread - smart grocery list. Love this, you can add items with siri and see the whole list on your watch. Scroll up and down with the crown and tap to check off, this syncs back to the reminders on your phone

- tons of other reminders apps for more detailed gtd. At the moment I'm trying upnext and tempo but would be interested in what other people are using.

- mail : I'm using Mymail and cloud magic, both of which seem to allow reply by dictation. So far I'm preferring mymail for the ability to tailor notifications so it doesn't notify me for example circular emails that I don't need to know have arrived.

- calculator: I tried calcbot but for me it's trying to do to much on a small screen. I like calculatoru which works great for basic arithmetic, anything more complex and you probably want to use your phone.

Sure not everything is perfect right out of the box but it's great seeing how quickly gaps are being filled and this will only continue

That's weird, isn't it? You should be able to swipe left or right to proceed to previous or next month. Oh Apple..

That's great to hear but I expect that from Google product, not Apple's. For Apple "It's just work" mantra we should be able to simply say "Okay" after finish dictating to send the message. Or anything that's more human and less confusing.
This is NOT attention to details, Apple.

I couldn't believe this either...hopefully it will be changed in an update.
