Thanks, I know how exciting it is to have a new gadget. I hope you get as many years of joy out of it as I have from my collection of watches I still wear as need or in rotation. Watches are always a good value for there timeless heirloom like characteristics when they are well crafted like the Apple watch is. Enjoy!

Thanks! I'm not expecting years and years of use out of this one (hell, I'll probably get the 2nd gen right when it's released), but for a first gen product I'm pretty impressed.

Really, what makes it incredible? Seriously. over $1,000 for a SS watch that does not even tell you the time when you want it to, say a quick subtle glance who stuck in a meeting - how about if I could push a button like the 1972 PULSAR (Google it, the first digital watch, you pushed a button to check the time to save battery)

$1,000 for a stainless steel watch. Jobs had nothing on Cook and his "Golly Gosh, I've wanted to talk to my wrist since i was five" pitch for screwing customers. Also, if these things get some killer feature in the future - I reserve the right to come back here talking about how much i love my watch.

Mine tells me the time very quickly and since I opted for the Milanese loop, I didn't have to spend a thousand dollars.

Also? Tapping the screen switches the watch face on. Soooo...what's the issue???

Posts like this and others I'm reading, coupled with the shipping times for the watch I wanted, if I was going to get one at all, slipping to August is almost guaranteeing I won't get an Apple Watch. At least this version. Apple is not the same as When Jobs was alive.

I didn't get the first gen iPhone because there was no app store. I waited for the the iPhone 3G. Seemed odd to me that this handheld computer (original iPhone) could only run web apps. Steve jobs was alive then.

I agree, for a first generation it's pretty good, but the one thing I'm shocked that it can't do, and to be honest the one thing I would really "need" out of a smart watch more than any feature, is the ability to use it to trigger phone calls from my phone.

Ie. If I have my phone in my bag, but have my earphones connected (which I do for at least two hours a day, every day), I would like to be able to use the watch to make a call and speak hands free with my earphones via the phone, not the watch.

And alternatively, I'd like to be able to answer a call on my phone, using my watch (without having to take out the phone).

The watch can't do that and it surprises me.

To make it worse, I read in a review that it couldn't do this, so I asked an Apple employee during my try-on, who said it could, so I double-checked with an Apple employee online and they said "we can't comment on third party articles, but it contradicts the information we have been given and I can confirm the watch can do what you've described". Both were wrong.

Do you think this is the sort of thing that could/is likely to be added in a software update any time soon?

I can't be the only guy to want this.

I've been using the Wunderlist app for the past year for this. I have my own various lists but I have shared grocery and household tasks lists that my husband and I use together. This is the only third party app that I've tried so far on the watch that matches its usefulness on the phone.

I was wondering about this one. Can you add reminders using the watch? And do you know if it handles location based reminders (I can't get Siri on the watch to create these).

Thanks!

I use an app called " Up Next". It's great since it syncs with the iPhone reminder app. :D

It does not do location based reminders and I asked about adding items on the watch on Twitter and this was the reply: There's not at the moment but we're working hard on adding a to-do at the moment and will be pushing an update soon.

You can try using it on iPhone and watch and see how you like it. It's free.

Im sorry, but it does. i did it earlier today... fair enough my phone was in my pocket, but i got the notification on my watch...

The watch should/does display any notifications you allow it to, and should mirror anything the phone notifies you of if its been allowed in the watch app.

Thanks! I'll keep an eye on it and see how it develops.

This was a bit confusing I know, but Sparkeze was not commenting on the watch reminders app but rather on Wunderlist..a different app. Thanks tho'

You can use the overcasts app to listen to podcasts on the Apple watch.

But it plays it through the phone! Maybe I'm dumb. That's ok. But being able to listen to podcasts on my wrist while I go about doing this or that is something that would be very useful to me.

I think this IS a love thread. If we didn't love the device we would not so passionately want to improve it.

That may be, but after reading it i'm seriously considering canceling :D

But i have to be careful. last thing I want to do is be negative and spoil anything for anyone, or make anyone angry. I'm just thinking out loud. that's what forums are for.

I'm pretty sure I won't cancel (not that anyone cares).

But it makes you wonder

I agree with a lot of that. Another peeve of mine is that when you put something into reminders using Siri, you still have to touch the watch to confirm it. You should be able to say "confirm".

Try "hey Siri, confirm." Worth a shot.

Not one 'love' thread.

Just hate, want, wish.

Makes you wonder a bit

You aren't looking very hard if you can't find the love.

I think I'm really going to love it. It's like a new puppy...a little overwhelming and owners wishing it were potty trained ;-)

And a correction: earlier I said I couldn't get Siri to set location based alerts using the watch. Thanks to others on a different thread I've got them working. So a tiny number of the "I wishes" might end up solved with more playing around with the watch.

All valid complaints. My main complaint is the lack of having my watch. Still stuck at processing. 5/24-5/8 shipping window.

You can push a button. Push the digital crown, or push the actual screen.

Is there a way to still hear your txt message notification sound on the phone when paired to the watch? When my watch in on my wrist I only hear and feel the txt message on my wrist, and nothing on the phone. Once I take watch off and it becomes locked then the phone goes back to its notifications. Phone calls work both places ( phone rings as well as watch ringing )

I swear I was just watching iJustine and she played a song through her watch speaker. Almost certain.

It was playing on her phone that was sitting next to her watch. Note how she looks over at her phone right as the music starts, almost as if she didn't expect it. She then just went along with it.

I can get around this by changing the Media Type of the Podcasts to "Music" in iTunes, dumping them into a Playlist, and then syncing this to the watch with my phone.

Do you get 15-second skip controls instead of skip to next track button when you do this? On the iPhone, you get second skip buttons when playing audiobooks and podcast in the music app.
