See, this is why it’s hard to take Samsung on anything seriously.

Even with their usual mocking behaviour comes off as petty, given the fact that everyone knows they’re about to copy the same thing.

When the market leader (Apple) does it and the consumers accepted it (just look how many here defended Apple for it), any cost cutting measures will be followed by the rest of the industry.
No one is mocking them for following suit. They are all mocking them for making fun of Apple for doing it, then immediately following suit. You forgot that minor little part.

Samsung's marketing department is comedy gold and we should all be grateful for the comic relief they provide in these dark times 😂

Hmm, doesn’t matter whether people mock them or not, they will follow the “best practices” from the market leader.

I wonder how long until the first lawsuit because someone bought a crappy no-brand charger from a mall kiosk and it caught fire, burning down their house.

At least by including a charger with every phone, Apple and Samsung ensure that most people are using a high quality charger. Now everyone who buys a new phone will have to buy a charger if they don't have one, and you know people will go for the cheapest garbage that does the job.
So you’re being cheap and it’s someone else’s fault?

1. Firstly mock anything Apple does
2. Secondly copy anything Apple do

They don't have 120 hz, they also do not have AMOLED display.

You're funny, Apples only good accomplishment is making the bionic chip, but you probaly won't be using it to it's utmost potential. A14 Bionic chip and better 3rd party apps are only thing going for apple.

Apple doesn't have 120 hz / They still have a notch / no AMOLED display AT 1440p / they don't have 12 RAM / no S-pen

ETC.

I've been using Samsung phones since I ditched my 4s for an S4 (haha, I know), but Samsung really needs to get their marketing teams in a room with their hardware and sales teams and hash this stupid ideology to mock Apple out of their company.

A company will do what they can get away with to minimize costs and maximize profits, and getting rid of the adapters is one way to do that (regardless of Apple's laughable "environmental" excuse).

The thing is, Samsung hardware is outstanding. And lately they have minimized their spin on Android, so the two work really well together.

They need to position themselves as an alternative to Apple by showing their own strengths. And they have many.

I wish they did like both Microsoft and Apple stopped taking jabs at each other a decade or so ago, and focus on the product.

There are a lot of good adapters on Amazon (Amazon Basics and Anker), but there is also a lot of garbage adapters that you have to be cautious with that are poorly manufactured that don’t have the appropriate labeling and insulation, which poses a fire hazard. Years ago, Amazon stated they would crack down on that, but some still do make their way For sale.
Yeah, I like Anker and Choetech. The later usually has a lower price, but good quality.

My understanding is that excess baggage capacity is used to ship smart phones in. With a severe reduction in flights, is it any wonder that maximizing the number of phones by trading headphone/adapter space for more phones wouldn’t be taken up by all vendors who practice JIT distribution?

the only reason Samsung jams so much RAM into their bloated abominations is because android is so poorly optimized and full of memory leaks that 12GB is needed to stay somewhat smooth. When you make your own OS and control the hardware from the ground level, you don’t need such things. Same reason android phones have comically oversized batteries yet get the same or worse battery life vs iPhones.

iPhones lack 120hz and Super AMOLED because they are pointless gimmicks on a cellphone that only serve to waste battery life or bloat and distort colours.

Samsung is all about trying to trick laymen with flashy garbage that serves no real purpose, all while trying to take the eye away from a terrible mobileOS with an even worse reskin overtop of it that will lose support in a year.

It’s like if a car manufacturer started selling diamond encrusted cup holders, while at the same time removing half the engine.

I used to always buy Note’s because on paper they seemed so amazing. Ended up realizing how crap they were in a month, taking a huge loss selling them (because Samsung retains exactly zero value) and going back to an iPhone for a good user experience. The pen is a silly gimmick that’s absolutely useless on a cellphone.

But if you want to buy garbage, be my guest. Just don’t cry when you realize what you’ve done.

I was about going to write some nasty comments about Samsung and .....
have a good one !

Samsung has a massive history of mocking Apple, then following up a year later with the exact same thing they mocked Apple for. Like clockwork

This is why some Samsung users dislike Apple. If Apple does it, Samsung will do it. Samsung is Apple's 5 o'clock shadow.

Samsung is for losers.I once wrote a comment in spanish, was taken down for violating macrumors terms, I wrote another comment, it was removed because it was too short, violating macrumors terms, I also wrote another one (not offensive) and was also taken down in matter of hours. You shouldn't call people losers, period, even if macrumors allows it. I use Samsung and if you have an iPhone, guess what.. You are using Samsung too! In your display, on top of that, the charger removal news from Samsung is from July 2020

It's time Apple did the right thing and start including accessories with their phones. 1000 bucks is a lot of money, and the least they could do from the standpoint of good customer relations is provide all the goodies without charging extra money for it. You don't buy a car without wheels. You shouldn't have to buy an iPhone without quality headphones, fast charging, cleaning cloth, and maybe even a plastic clear case as well to protect it.

Yeah because cars never have optional extras, dreadful example.

Good luck suing the crappy no-brand company that manufactured the charger.

Oh, wait.

Only in the twisted legal system of the US would it be possible to blame stupid consumer decisions on someone who
  • is mostly unrelated and
  • has a lot of money.

Nowadays, the RAM game in Android is no longer about efficiency. RAM is cheap, and it's a number that is easily understood by consumers, ie. larger is better. So Android OEMs simply put more RAM to differentiate their phones when they are side by side the competitors in retailers. The question should be why Apple is so stingy with RAM despite them being cheap? Other than to force people to upgrade once the amount of RAM becomes the bottleneck? (eg. iPhone 6)

I agree 120Hz is useless if it's not variable. But at least it's there. Apple themselves have ProMotion tech, so it's not like they didn't think about it. They're just trickling tech so there will always something to talk about the next year.

Samsung One UI is one of the smoothest Android skin. And Samsung is now on par with google in terms of software support, 3 years, at least for their flagships and select models. They could be better, of course.

If you think the S-pen is a gimmick, then why did you even buy the note? :D The S lineup is now on par in screen size and spec, just minus the S-pen.

But Apple opened themselves up for it, which is stupid.

In the past, they could always claim that users should've used the included cable and charger. Now, Apple themselves told users to use their existing chargers, whatever that is. It's an unwise decision imo.
