That is an issue for me too. Probably just a pet peeve but still it's source of discomfort especially when I am not using earphones. This has actually been a dealbreaker for me to get iPad Air 2 (which was a really great upgrade from any its previous gen).

I never use headphones with my iPad so it was a huge deal killer for me. I was soooooo ready to buy one when they came out but one trip to my local store immediately revealed this problem and the air came hissing out of my balloon. Damnit. That's why I was hoping the Air 3 might rectify this. Oh well. Maybe the Pro will work for me? ;)

For me it's that I enjoy upgrading one of my devices for my birthday. And even though the air 2 would be an upgrade over my air 1, it'd be nicer to have a newer iPad that isn't already a year old.

I was burned on the iPad 3 (literally and figuratively :p) and I decided that this would be the year I would finally update to the iPad Air 3 and now there will be no iPad Air 3! Ugh!

The Air 2 would be an upgrade, but after the iPad 3 issue, I will not buy any Apple device unless it is the newest one available. I won't buy 2014's A8X chip in 2015. The rate of progression in these chips is still too high and even the A8X will be outdated in 2-ish years.

It wasn't a deal breaker for me, but it was annoying. I returned my Air 2 for other issues. The thing is, people tried to defend it by saying that the sound was so much fuller and louder than the Air, but great sound isn't that valuable if your hand goes numb. I don't always use the speaker, but sometimes I'll play some soft music as I browse the web through the speaker. The real issue for me was the screen vibrating. Even if you had the device in your lap or resting on a surface, if you interacted with the screen you could feel the vibrations and it just felt weird.

Just sold my 16GB Air for $200 after 18 months of good use. I still have hope that there will be an Air 3 tomorrow, if not I'll just get an Air 2 or Mini 4.

Is the Air 2 vibrating speaker as bad as it made out to be? A deal breaker?

I use my iPad with the speakers at 75-85% every night watching different kinds of movies, and listening to tons of music. I find the issue is not even close to as bad as some have described. It is loud, clear, has some good bass for a tablet, IMO it sounds great.

***Note to those who DO find it an issue, I am not calling you out, just voicing my opinion. :)

Same here... except I got the Air 2 for the RAM. lol... I now just want an Air 3 so the tech is current. I'm still hoping that Apple will announce an Air 3 in October.

Kal.

from what i read that they are not doing a iPad air 3 this year and just do a iPad mini 4

I'm the same as you - it's been a total non-issue for me. I do have my iPad in a leather SmartCase though so maybe that's dampening the vibrations?

Same here. I can't imagine holding a tablet while watching a movie or listening to music. The vibration is a complete non-issue for me as well.

No new Air 3. iPad pro looks really nice, but $799 is tough to swallow for only 32gb. Looks like I'll be going for a air 2 or mini 4.

No Air 3 announced. I guess we'll have to wait until spring.

Not even a stealth reference like the Mini 4, and the rumor mill says no October announcement event, so yeah, next spring.

The Air 2 is still an excellent device. It was arguably a year ahead of itself last year. I've had excellent experiences with the iOS 9 public beta on mine.

I can't believe they spent like only 10 seconds on the mini 4

LAME that there's no Air 3. I have an Air and have been looking to upgrade but the 2 was too minor an improvement. I was hoping for a new product introduced this fall

I owned and really like an Air. The Air 2 is not a minor improvement, and that's especially true if you're running iOS 9. SplitView is awesome.

Sad no Air 3, the Air 2 is still great, and won't break a wallet like the iPad Pro. I like the thinness, lightness, and portability of the Air 2 along with its power.
*Le sigh.
Yeah the iPad Pro is nice but too expensive and, (IMO) for the way most people use them, too big. I have a MacBook Air 13 inch. The big screen would be immersive on the pro for sure, but unnecessary when I already have a laptop.
