"You'll notice that yes, I did mention Siri: Your AirPods are hooked directly into your iPhone's personal voice-based assistant, and can be triggered with a double tap of either one of your AirPods, Her-style. Siri is the primary way you interface with the AirPods — there aren't any minuscule play/pause, volume, or track controls on these earbuds. Instead, you ask Siri to pause your music, raise the volume, or switch to the next track."

Try to do more research next time, my friend.
Wrong actually

You can change the settings from double tap for Siri to use play /pause

You can't with volume but with play and pause you can.

Great.

Now we will get a ton of people who don't own them and never will tell us how crappy they are, expensive, will fall out, will get lost...etc.

People that have not used Android have similar comments. So nothing new here on Macrumors.

Apple are great at this. Create a problem! (remove headphone socket) then sell a solution! (Airpods).

Drove 30 minutes to an Apple Store to hopefully get a pair this morning, they said they had none and did not know when they would come in. Thanks MR for the false info.

There has been talk about short supply for weeks. No way you can place the blame on MR.

I would hope they expand the non-Siri tapping functionality. Skipping songs and volume control should be able to be done using some sort of additional tap or hold pattern. Since Siri needs a data connection to work, how do you skip songs on the way to work in the subway without taking out your phone?

Apple Watch, with the last-used app (i.e. Music or Now Playing) set to remain onscreen.

I think these have gotten a lot of hate. Personally, I think they're pretty expensive. I would definitely consider them once the price has dropped.

Heh, Apple doesn't really drop prices unless a new version comes out,

Pretty nifty headphones but anyone who says the sound quality is better is 100% lying to themselves. Microphone is hugely improved but as headphones, they're the same.

I just can't get pass the hard plastic and the white color. I was never a fan of the freebies they include because my ears hurt with those things.

I'll be waiting for v2. Hopefully they improve the looks and improve sound quality.

Version 2 is called Beats X.

"AirPods sound just like EarPods" - Nilay Patel

$159 for overpriced tech.

Get Tim Cook Outta there! Please. Seriously.
You're kidding me? You quote Nilay Patel... the guy couldn't review his way out of a paper bag! At least quote someone that has some sort of idea how technology works.

Ok, but then I have to fork over more $$$ for a watch to control my airpods instead a simple settings update that should be onboard at launch? This should be a simple software release.

I tend to get really bad microphonics (really loud sounds I get while eating with earbuds or the sound that happens when a cable gets bumped) sounds when I have the standard earbud tips, so I'm pretty excited to see a w1-based in-ear that doesn't have that type of tip like the Beats. They tend to echo around in my head and give me a headache over time.

Unfortunately Bose, my recent favorite for their StayHear tips, switched to the StayHear+ tips for their wireless earbuds which re-introduced the microphonics to their earbud lineup.

Edit: I did have a pair of AlienEars remolded Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10 that I loved, but unfortunately custom molds don't always last that long since your ears constantly grow.

you can still get stayhear tips for headphones designed for stayhear + they all fit the same way

I live in Montréal, got in front of the Apple Store early this morning to get the best chance to get a pair today. Unfortunately they only had couple of demo in store, but no stock for customers.

As the article says, the quality is beyond my expectation. I had original bragi, more expensive and sound quality wasn't even close to the AirPods.

All that being said, I'm disapointed of apple. I know the stocks would be limited, verry limited maybe, but not event a single pair to buy even if they did say so, that's not nice...

Very true the Beats X looks very pretty good and if the rumors are right will be priced fairly competitively which is a surprise from beats.

Just got mine, with high hopes... Unfortunately they are exactly liked the wired variety, so they do NOT work in my ears.... Feel like they are constantly on the verge of falling out, just the slightest bump.. Im hope some 3rd party companies make something to help secure them, but for now i guess Im returning them. Sound and ease of use are great.. No complaints. Was really hoping for the BeatsX that seem like the perfect thing for me, but they are even more delayed.. bummer

I'm still not sure how folks say these can be used when working out. They aren't sweat resistant. That nixes any real workout plans for these. That's my only complaint so far... I'd LOVE these if I didn't have to worry about sweating an damaging them.

The earbuds were fine with sweat and these will be as well.
