My headphones were constantly tangled, which is one frustration I am glad not to have anymore along with my cats constantly chewing up the cords. I

My cat would probably use the case as a hockey puck.

Can you pay with cash @ the Apple Store?
(honest question - I've never seen it)

Yes, you can pay cash at Apple Store. I've seen people counting $$$$ paying for MacBooks.

As far as controlling volume with Siri, that wouldn't work for me, as I have a speech disability, so Siri doesn't understand me.

Yes, I know you can use iPhone or watch to change volume, but not as convenient as being able to do it from the earphone itself. I've loved having that convenience ever since headphones / earphones started coming out with inline remotes, and seriously miss it whenever I find myself using one without the remote.

Also, its winter, and I find I need to pull up my hood when walking outside. It's great to hear that people have been able to get these AirPods to stay in while shaking their heads, but what about pulling on then pulling off coat hoods? If someone who has them can give this a try, I'd be grateful.

This is madness. Imagine losing just one of your earbuds. Apple has created a new problem here.
Of all the FUD, this is the one that I find most ridiculous. Losing one earbud? What are you doing that you won't notice something fall out of your ear or that you can't pick it back up?

Don't do calisthenics while standing on a sewer grate, and you'll be fine...

Easy tiger - I was just pointing out that Apple originally said the AirPods would ship way way earlier (like months). That was all I meant by "The goalpost moved".

You're right...the delayed EarPods did finally come up for order and they gave you a ship date and slightly beat that estimate.

I'd appreciate if you don't insinuate that I'm "bottom of the barrel of humanity"

Can we try to be kind?
I was not being rude.

Again. I did not move any goalpost. My Airpods literally over-delivered by 2 days. Which rocks.

Your argument is confused. Let it go. Have a nice day.

hilarious that people line up to throw $150 away when you can right now buy a better pair of bluetooth headphones for $15 on amazon

Very useful post. Made my buying decision much easier. Thanks for the insight and valuable information.

That is a good question. I've never seen it myself either. I've always used debit/credit cards. I'd have to believe they accept cash. Who wouldn't? Anyone else know the answer?

Honestly, I love Apple as much as anyone on this board, but I'm a bit mystified by all the hype surrounding this product. What am I missing? o_O

This is the first time such a product has been released at this price point. Don't believe me? Try finding another pair of wireless earphones that does everything the AirPods do at this price.

Well. Main Street in Naperville had 9 pairs and is sold out.

I like how they have the phones setup to hang up on you if you try to call in.

Nice touch.

You meant "the shipping estimate over delivered" - I understand now.

My error.

When I hear "Apple over-delivered" I was thinking as it related to when they first promised they'd come (a long time ago now) or that the product was somehow better than they advertised (it's not - it's exactly what they advertised - which is good)

You have a nice day also..

I really don't understand why people are standing outside in the cold for some headphones either. They really not that special. Definitely a okay product, but not waiting in line worthy nonetheless.

Can we pair two sets of Airpods to one device?

I believe so. There shouldn't be any reason why you can't. But sound will only play on one set of AirPods at a time, because you can only route sound to one Bluetooth audio device at a time.

they have volume control but only by voice, tap on it to activate siri and tell to lower or increase volume

So you have to have an internet connection. Until they make Siri able to do basic things like set a timer, tell me what's on my calendar, or play music/adjust volume without connecting to the internet or that delay, it's not something I'll personally use on a regular basis.

Just read two reviews saying the microphone is garbage.

Hasn't Apple figured this out yet?

It's why Siri sucks and Alexa is amazing. It's all in the quality of the mic.

I use my Earpods for phone calls all the time because they actually use a decent mic.

With the garbage mic, airpods went from a must have to a won't buy for me.

Sigh. I was just about to order them.
I think you have to take the reviews with a grain of salt. And consider the source. Unless there is an overwhelming majority complaining about the mic quality, I'd be skeptical of the few. As with anything, there's always those who will love it and those who don't. I purchased the Airpods and will give them a try, if they don't meet my expectations, then I'll return them. I had previously purchased the Bose Soundsport BT headphones and didn't care for them and they went back. And this was of course after digging through the reviews.

We asked the manager and he didn't have a clue.

Thanks

I spent 40 minutes in line outside at 15 degrees to find out they had 6 Airpods. Not healthy enough to keep doing that. Will just have to call each day, although I never actually get the store. Guess that is normal for Apple. They have ship date of the 29th with online order. But, would still like them before holidays.

The link was down, didn't know istocknow showed Airpods--

Ive started to see this as a reply more and more on this board. Starting to feel like when you try to argue with a science denier and they tell you "that's just what I believe"
You're making the perfect science denial argument-- conflating fact with opinion. Arguing against science is arguing against the best currently available facts about objective things while the people you quoted are all clearly saying that differences of opinion exist about subjective things.

"I think they're uncomfortable" is not peer reviewed science.
