I did a voice memo test between the two microphones. AirPods and iPhone 7 mic.

AirPods definitely sound clear but not as clear as the iPhone microphones. But I wouldn't blame it on bad microphones. I think apple has done something with the software in these (noise cancelling, air beaming, multiple microphone inputs) which as a side effect causes the slight loss of audio quality. That being said during initial use I haven't had siri been unable to understand me...yet.

I would even buy these without the microphone, they're pretty great.

Can you compare to regular Earpods mic?

They are popping up all over online for a "premium" for must have gifts. I've seen $400-$600. I would suspect a lot of people standing in line are looking to "flip" them.

I was going to get these, as my wired ones are not working right.

But not being able to control volume is a huge part of me passing on it.

I hope future versions have volume control.
If you have a Apple Watch that may be a solution I have by earbuds jaybird freedom and the AW is very good in that respect changing track volume etc

Yes, just Imagine! haha. Big deal...... They do sell replacements - I guess they thought of it. Probably you could even get your lost earbud back if someone found it if they want to "lock them down" with tech.

They sell replacements for iPhones, too. That doesn't mean it's a "haha" moment when you realize you have to buy another one!

Wow, I never thought I would see Apple Store lines like that for ear phones. That's nuts. I guess the force is still strong with Apple, at least for some things.

I just find it highly odd that 10-20 people were in line at 6:30 AM got their names on a list for pick up later-but couldn't appear at 9:00 when the doors opened to pick them up-

uh... midday delivery?
These things aren't just dropped down an unattended chimney to surprise employees when they walk into the store in the AM!

Just because you can't think of a reason doesn't mean there's validation for your theory. That's now how the world works...

I woke up at 8:40. No plans to buy AirPods. Randomly decided to hop in car and get to Apple Store before they open at 9 to try to buy a pair. Got the last pair in stock. People behind me pissed!

Boggles the mind that people will line up for this stuff.

I wonder how many lost at least one of them before they got home :p

I agree, but that solution will not work for me because I do not an AW, and I have no plans to get one, at least for now.

It looks like the only ways to do it is:

AW, an easy and good solution if you have one.

Siri, I personally don't like this one as Siri is unreliable, plus can you change the volume during a phone call?

iPhone volume buttons or on screen, this is fine unless you are driving, or your phone is in your purse/bag and getting it out is a problem.

Other BT headsets have volume controls, I am just disappointed that these do not. I will stick with the wired ones for now.

I see these going for ~$250 on eBay. I thought about buying a second pair and doing this but decided against it.

$250 (sell)
-$ 25 (eBay fee)
-$ 20 (expedited shipping before christmas)
-$170 (original cost)
-------------
$ 35 profit...... not worth it to me

However, I did buy two nes classics and sold them on eBay well worth it. I am by no means a scalper but treated it as a means to get some extra cash for the holidays and some towards grad school.

"Loosing one airpod" is the most pathetic joke ever. Those who thinks that one airpod can be lost easily, they should keep their both shoes tied with one another all the time

Why do some people on this forum have to be party poopers?

Stores opened early and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes shortly after 8am. BTW, I am on vacation so there goes your theory about airpods vs salary. I'm sure other people were either there before work or work at different hours. Some might be standing in line for someone else who has the funds to pay for a line sitter. Who knows? Who cares?

Find your own happiness.

you should try salary
good lord don't people have to work?

love the logic.

airpods value < day off from work

$15 is on the high side for people who claim to find better headphones on amazon than airpods.

More hilarious you did provide any proof.
Talk is cheap.
Post link to "better pair of bluetooth headphones for $15 on amazon".
[doublepost=1482184203][/doublepost]I see several sold on ebay for $500 each. Some smart scalpers sold airpods for $500 on ebay on dec. 14 for Dec 21-22 shipping. most are selling $300+ with some adding ridiculous shipping fees.

My local Apple Store had 3. The first woman in line kindly offered to sell me one of her 2 pairs for $300. I was 12th in line.
