@All, who have already purchased: what do you think about the build quality?
I like mines, but:
1. case lid is clicking (i think the problem is known)

Same. Not a feature, they will replace it, I have my appointment on Monday.

i was at Apple Store this week, and was told they could be repaired(o_O), as i am out of the 14days return deadline, but i will have to pay for that!

I had nothing but issues with my PowerBeats Pro only 16 days after purchase. The Apple Store employee I worked with saw via receipt & order confirmation how much I spent at that particular store in just a one month period.

Needless to say, I walked out of the store with Airpods Pro with AppleCare+ on them instead of the crappy Beats earbuds.

What a difference! Comfort, usability, and sound quality—I mean it's night & day different. I typically don't like those plastic earbud thingies, but for whatever reason, Apple's are actually comfortable - and much easier to change/swap than others. I never understood people who say Beats brand is about sound quality. Their sound quality is for **** compared to Airpods... and Airpods Pro steps it up even more.

Noise cancellation on these puppies is great, and Transparency Mode is a nice touch!

I had the original AirPods at launch. Used them for 2 years and the batteries went to crap. They were decent. They sounded fine. My biggest problem is a lack of volume control on the pods themselves

I bought a pair of wireless earbuds at BestBuy that are a fraction of the price of APP. They have a charging case and connect with my phone as soon as they are removed from it. Like the AirPods, they sound fine. They have volume control by touching the left to lower volume and touching the right to increase volume along with pause/play and next track functions.

Why can't Apple, with all of their resources and knowhow, put volume control on AirPods? I shouldn't have to pull out my phone to change the volume. Siri is not an option. It sucks doing it that way. Don't have an Apple Watch and don't want one just to control volume.

This is the sole reason I bought the Apple Watch...to control the AirPod. 😞

I just got my AirPods Pro delivered this week!

I love them! The noise cancellation works great!

I absolutely love them, the best earphones I've owned by a long way. Zero regrets with them.

The older AirPods refused to stay in my ears, so for me the AirPods Pro are the only AirPods I can wear. The noise cancelling works excellent in the gym, and I no longer hear the annoying people who are working out their mouths, more than their muscle groups 😉

It’s not that the AirPods are too expensive. It’s just the fact that two to three years from now the battery especially in the AirPods are at 60% capacity.
The battery health is a huge concern to me.
After three years just get the batteries replaced. $98 and they’re like new. $350 for six years, that’s $5 month.

We bought an iPad Air 2 at launch in October 2014 and it still works great as our family kitchen computer. It's still receiving system and security updates too.

No wonder iPad sales slowed down - - Apple makes the damn things last way too long!

Exactly.

And that's the problem with looking at quarterly sales numbers for a product that lasts for many, many years.

iPads aren't rapidly consumable. They last a long time. You don't have to keep buying them.

But there's always someone who's buying their first iPad. And there are others who are replacing an older one. Everyone is different.

It's tough to convey that on a chart that only lists 3 months of sales.

I haven't bought a major appliance in over 10 years. But there are stores that sell plenty of stoves, refrigerators, washers and dryers every day.

Hell... I haven't bought a pair of shoes in over a year. But shoe stores still exist.

So it might not be me buying shoes... but someone is... :p

I have a 2016 iPad and an original iPad Mini. Both still work fine. So I won't be included on an iPad sales chart anytime soon.

But other people will.

Adjusting the volume of AirPods by spinning the crown on the Apple Watch is one of life's small unsung pleasures.

The AirPods/Apple Watch combo makes the bestest iPod Apple ever made!

(...and BTW, the Apple Watch has many other functions in addition to volume control.)

Go back and if they still won’t replace ask to speak with the manager. I don’t know if the sound you mention is the one others sometimes mention which is normal, or a different sound from defect (or you damaged it).

1) If it’s a normal sound it can’t be fixed, so why a repair fee?

2) If it’s not normal, it’s still within the warranty period so should be replaced free.

3) Only if it’s not normal AND they are saying you damaged it by abuse would you have to pay for a repair. If you didn’t drop it or anything like that I would push back.

Apple has created a new product category. The AirPods are called wearables, but in reality they are disposables. No repairs, no battery replacements, no fancy recycling 'bot, $10B a year of products that end up in a landfill after two years of use. Magic!

And also makes your AirPods "with volume control" cost $400 more. No thanks.

It's the same sound as in the video:
Sure, they would say, that it's normal (that is why i doubt the build quality).
I think for a product in this price category it could be better.

i've found a lot forum posts: some have it, some don't.
it was definitely not dropped/squeezed/whatever by me - it was like that from the very beginning (just hadn't time to visit apple store before)

I haven‘t read any comments.
Is it possible microsoft pushed the release date so far, to make them better than the airpods or do you think they have no chance to tweak them in such a short time period.

Ok well if it’s normal, I would ask them how they can fix it with a repair? Charge you $89 to replace one clicking case with another clicking case? That makes zero sense!

I’d ask to speak with a manager. If they says it’s a normal sound, ask them, then why did the genius want you to pay to get it fixed?

Apple should consider incorporating an EQ control built-into iOS for AirPods, that would really set it apart as it can be used with any app including Files app to play music. Without adjusting the EQ the preset default bass is on the light side. I tried it out with apps that do support user defined EQ for bass and it works well.
Thanks any app in particular that I should check out.

In the end, the guys at Consumer Reports have opinions just like everyone else.

You can go to CNET where they give the Galaxy Buds 3.5 out of 5 stars and AirPods Pro 4.5 out of 5 stars. That doesn't make it right, it's just a different opinion.

incorrect. CR are a reputable watchdog group with experts to facilitate rigorously objective testing methods, not some tech nerd gushing over novelty.

if you care about audio quality, buy Samsung. If you want to be cool, buy Apple.
