Hell yea, jogging on a trail, jogging at night.

Especially on a trail, leaves, rocks, and also bridges. If it falls out while on a bridge on the trails I frequent, there is a good chance it will fall off into the water.

If it falls into a river, probably a goner, but If you can't spot that bright white object when it falls at your feet, maybe vision is such that one shouldn't be out on a trail at night

I'm going to guess these things have substantial software in them , and so will be updatable, like the watch. So if people want one tap to answer/hangup a call and it's not there, it could be put in an update. Things I'd like:

Color other than bright white to make them less obvious. Black, beige, gray..
Updatable software
Noise cancellation - the hardware for it seems to be there. Also, have a slider setting that lets you mix iOS audio with sound from the outside environment so, if desired, you can still hear the world while you listen.
Call Siri with a single tap. It's probably a very light tap on the pods, but I'm sick of having to push at my eardrum every time I want to call Siri on other headsets.
Swipeable. Not in current hardware, but Apple should have taken a tip from (pulp) Google Glass and let you swipe up and down on the stem - to control volume, skip tunes, other stuff.
Find My AirPods! Make them beep loudly if they are lost. Conversely, have them make a significant sound if you are wearing them and you leave your phone behind. Also allow them to beep the phone if you lost it, as you can do on the watch.

Mark me down as not believing this rumor. I won't say there's no chance they'll be out next week, but if they are, this one particular salesperson's prediction will have been correct only by pure luck. Those guys will say anything to keep someone from canceling an order. Needs a better source.

"...and they'll be included for free with the iPhone 7." Right? Right? Because they should be.

Why? Because they should be included? Think about that statement for a minute. Apple doesn't just include something because it "Should be." One way or the other, hypothetically, the consumer will be paying for it. And not every customer wants the Airpods, even though I will order a pair.

Should the adapters be included with every new MacBook Pro order? No. Because every one will use the adapters differently or not all for that matter. Apple charges a premium for everything, which in the end, doesn't benefit everyone For something that "Should be included." Along with 'Included', comes with a price.

Hyperbolic, over the top response above aside, the lightning headphone is fine. If you were serious about headphones you would just put the dongle on your favorite set and be done with it.[/QUOTE]

Nope nope nope. Dongle suck, ESPECIALLY when they shouldn't be necessary to begin with. The only legitimate alternatives to the headphone jack are wireless/bluetooth OR USB-C. Lightning simply doesn't cut it because it's not a universal port. Can I use the iPhone 7 headphones on my MacBook? No. They're dumb, plain and simple.

My hope, but not my expectation, is that they were delayed in order to add functionality like skipping tracks by tapping and such. Regardless, I'll probably eventually own a pair.

I really want this to be true. The only thing stopping me from ordering them is the reliance on siri to do anything. If I can tap to skip a track or do volume its a day one purchase for me.

I don’t mind dongles. I use one on my rMBP 15” daily for ethernet. I use the headphone dongle with my iPhone 7. And like you, never would I purchase lightning headphones. I haven’t seen a lightning (F) to 1/8” (M) adapter so I could use my lightning headphones on my rMBP or iPad.

I'm seriously thinking about buying the Jabra Elite Sport instead of the AirPods. The Jabra has some noise-cancelling features, and health monitoring capabilities that are interesting.

If they did proper in ear ones that produce at least some bass, I would really be tempted. The old pods just sound rubbish.

Spoken as someone who has never run trails at night, especially in the fall.

I hike at night all the time, but I would bet that 100% of the time you could drop it from head height and I would find a bright white object that would have fallen by my feet --it's not like it is going to fly off into the woods, but whatever.

Fact is I love the concept. But if they don't sound any better than the wired versions I'll stick with on ear or over ear solutions. My Masters & Dynamics M60 (over ear) are incredible for a BT headphone.

Can you answer a call or skip a song with a tap? or do you need to use siri for everything?

Probably not a tap, even if it could be done. Else, that would result in too many false / accidental activations every time you touch your Airpods to remove it from your ear or adjust it.

A word from Germany: It could be true, but if I have learned one thing from Conrad's customer service, it is not to trust them. They say anything to make sure you keep your order.

I i Believe the airpods were delayed to not cannibalize the new wireless Beats.

guys they are available to buy on the UK apple website now, I just ordered some :).

I plan to order them once they become available. But I agree with you 100% and in my opinion, Apple should not even allow multiple people to stick them in their ears for sanitary reasons e.g. lice, virus, bacteria, etc. Oh well, at least Apple products are free from arsenic and other materials that could hurt the environment. I'm sure glad Apple isn't coming out with their own toothbrush.
Can you return them if you don't like them or do the headphones and earbuds have a different return policy then other products?

I don't know. However, in all the years of buying Apple products I've have never had a problem with returning something that didn't work out. Apple is very good with returns provided it's within the time period specified. Apple's excellent customer service is one of the reasons I stay with them, or at least so far.

Can't wait to get these, if only to try them for two weeks and then return them.

The delay better be the fact that they're adding a jet black color option.
