Lol. iphones of any colour, storage and condition sell if the price is right. ceterus parabus next year jet black should command slightly more than other colours

Then you clearly did not read my previous post. Because if you had, I just stated the same thing I highlighted in bold for you above. If your going to reply and engage in a discussion, please take the time to actually read the response given to you. It's not to much to ask for, is it?

Not worth upgrading they said...ha

And still not to me. I have a paid off 6 w/ grandfathered ATT unlimited plan. To upgrade I would have to go Next or pay in full -- either an extra $40/mo or $900 after tax out of pocket. No thanks. I'll wait until next year when there is something to really upgrade to.

OTOH people that are plan like Next 24, of course it makes sense for them to upgrade. It's not about the phone being great, it's just a value play -- why pay $40 for last year's phone when you could pay $40 for this year phone.

Also Apple isn't announcing how many phones were sold 1st weekend so it's hard to say if the phone wa enormously popular or they ramped up production too late. There is NO DATA to support either theory. But I think it is legit to ask why all of the sudden after 9 years of reporting 1st weekend sales Apple is stopping the practice. It used to be something they crowed about and was Monday Morning News.

Nobody knows what kind of inventory there is. Apple might be dealing with a fraction of the phones they had on previous launch days. All speculation.

Yes, I'm sure they limit production to 1000 units per week, because news of supply shortages are worth much more than actual sales...

Not worth the effort, especially when "This member limits who may view their full profile". I'm guessing you don't want people re-reading your posts... wise choice pal!

Never said they "limited" production. Maybe production wasn't up to previous years numbers for some reason.

You and others said the exact same thing after the Apple Watch launch. Yet they sold enough of them to become the #2 watch maker by revenue, second only to Rolex.

A look at the absolute numbers from back then and today may give a hint. There are a lot of hands in China, but they do have a limit. Also, Wall St as it turns out is a bunch of skittish, gambling idiots. If reality doesn't match some figure pulled out of thin air then stocks can suffer badly, and Apple have a responsibility to shareholders, too.

Actually, if you would have read the post the first time, you would not have to go back and re-read it or even having this useless conversation, but being you made yourself look silly by quoting me, in which I already commented on the exact same thing, says little about your efforts to participate in a conversation about the iPhone, versus argue over your own mistake. Oh well, no sense talking to a wall.

But it was true after the AW launch -- Apple admitted they had early production issue which were the cause of the slowdown.

I'll keep saying that the phrase "sold out" means zero if it's not accomanied by sales numbers because it's fact. Doesn't matter if it's Apple, Samsung, GE, Deer Park, or some vendor on Etsy. Numbers matter.

Also I don't know where you are getting your financial numbers from since Apple does not section out AW either unit sales, or revenue. Plenty of 3rd party speculators, but nothing official from Apple in the way of a financial report or crowing press release. And Fitbit is the #1 activity band manufacture -- they do report numbers.

He is getting his info from the Keynote Apple did. They showed a chart of them being the #2 watch maker in the world by revenue.

You're saying none of what I suggested would happen if Apple released sales figure that were lower than the 6s? I think a lot of people, myself included would disagree.

The only time Apple is obligated to be clear and transparent is during their quarterly calls when they release sales figures. Other than that, they can pick and choose, regardless of what you or I want them to do.
We shall find out the reasons for the change at the quarterly calls.

Or maybe they launched in more countries at once than ever before? Whatever it is, the notion (or call it a wet dream if you like) by some that the iPhone 7 doesn't sell because [insert favourite slur] is absurd in the face of universal sell-out.

Why do people upgrade every version? I just don't get it. Like a good Zoshirushi rice cooker, as long as it performs its function well there is no need for a new one unless the old model poops out or there is an evolution of the product, like having a novel way of preparing quinoa.

I could get excited over that.

Because people can probably is the answer.

I am only interested in the upgraded camera, OIS, and the new home button which I see is enough reason for me to pick-up a new 7 on tomorrow; I own a 6 now.

New home button? Like getting a new Rice Cooker just because it has a touch Start button. New camera? I'd just as soon save for a great DSLR and work towards taking professional-grade photos. I have a 6s+, to each his own but I see no compelling reason to upgrade this cycle.

Funny how Apple - either directly or indirectly - criticise or poke fun at the likes of Amazon for playing the "numbers without numbers game", that is claiming that a product was a roaring success because it sold out despite the fact there was only 20 of that product available. Looks like Apple are in the same boat now, having to crow "huge success" while at the same time not releasing sales numbers because they might look pitiful compared to previous years. Not through lack of demand but because they likely didn't have anywhere near enough ready to enter the supply chain.

Hopefully they'll do better next year. And they'll need to do MUCH better if even only half the rumours are true about next year's iPhone.

NOT looking for a DSLR I'm through carting all that crap ... just want an iPhone to take on holidays to chronicle the trip, swap out SIM cards to have text and email while I'm away and book trains, flights, and hotel rooms on the go.

I see absolutely no reason to upgrade this cycle.

To each their own.
