Gosh so naive. The person who bought it would spend more in a day than u make in a year. Without batting an eyelid. So don't worry bruh

You have no idea what my situation is. Don't be so rude.

Being ripped off is being ripped off. Nothing makes it right or okay.

Dang I feel bad for the people lining up outside the stores

Well at this point, queueing outside a store is just a silly idea anyway. Since Angela, product launches do not work that way. Apple don't want queues outside of the stores anymore, they consider it to look bad. We've known since last year that pre-orders and reservations are highly recommended and that walk-in stock is low if not none existent. Queueing is futile and frankly a bit insane nowadays.

Not sure why folk manage to get scratches on their phones so easily. My 2 year old iPhone 6 Plus has no scratches. It does have a Bumper protecting the edge which I feel helps a lot. The other thing that helps is that I never ever have anything else in the same pocket as my phone. I have ordered a iPhone 7plus in Black and am not worried about the apparent scratches.

Will have an iPhone 7 tomorrow to play with. My daughter's iPhone 7 in Rose Gold is on its way. I have to wait to the beginning of October for my 7Plus.

Too many data points missing to draw a conclusion one way or another. But it's curious because previously Apple held different stock for it's online and brick and mortar stores. I think there are a lot of missing details here, or at least one big one -- sort of like how Apple, after much pressue, had to admit there was a major production issue with the original Apple Watch ramp up when those were in short supply at launch and retail stores didn't carry them for months after.

There is demand for the iP7+ and Jet Black, no doubt, but this doesn't smell like it's so popular Apple couldn't keep up with demand. Something went wrong somewhere and Apple is trying to spin it. Even when the original Plus model shipped -- for which there was years of pent up demand for that size Apple managed to have them in-store on launch day.

I know there are people here who think this is planned hype, but no company wants to not have product available on launch day when customers are at an emotional high to spend. Also Apple loses out on all those free press published launch day pics of people coming out of the store with their new iP7+ and Jet Black phones.

Maybe soon we'll get the real story here.

Further proving the idea that there won't be any iPhone 7 Plus, Jet Black in customers' hands on Friday.

It seems that only a very, very small handful of Jet Black Plus units will make it out on Friday, with most of them arriving in the week. SOME people have managed to get them but it seems mostly at network stores where most of the UK stock went.

Same situation as me. I'm still trying to get a 7 Plus Black reservation and will keep trying over the weekend and into next week. But my girlfriend and I are going to pick up her Rose Gold 7 tomorrow evening so she's getting her's before mine! I'll be damned if I even get to touch the thing ahaha.

Why do they wait so close to launch to start making these things? They know half of Earth is going to snatch them up. :(

I think the solution to all of this is just for Apple to start building units way earlier than they do now. They want to almost have TOO MUCH stock, which wouldn't be a problem because they know they'd sell the units easily anyway. Apple no longer rely on the 'iPhone Sold Out In 2 Seconds' headlines that used to be prevalent. I think they'd rather be able to release very, very high sales figures AND say that EVERYONE got their device on launch day with plenty of stock to spare. That sounds like a well prepared company.

The only issue I can see with this is iOS which, if you started building months in advance, would be nowhere near completion. But what if they write into iOS that the first thing it does after being switched on is look for an OTA update? Then you could start building the devices with an iOS that's months old in the knowledge that by the time the customer gets it, the new iOS will be out.

What I'm saying is that Apple need to start building units very early indeed. Almost around WWDC is when they'd want to start building for a September release. Hell even Spring might be a good time. Surely the design is locked down long, long before release.

here is an idea apple, ALLOCATE stock for retail at launch day.

And given the logistics involved, this was a planned moved all along. They even had the prepared press release....

You can all blame Angela for this, when I went to buy the new MacBook, no retail stores had them for months, the staff just kept pushing me to online .

Now iPhone users are getting the Angela retail treatment.....

We get it apple, build the hype for a phone that looks the same 3 years running......its in such a huge demand, I really want it now, better order online asap, so I don't have to wait to the new year..... this followed by reports next year that iPhone sales have taken a downward spiral.....Apple markerting is the only thing innovating at the moment....and doing major overtime.

What are you waffling on about.

This has happened every year since the first iPhone. Why are you blaming Agenla Ahrendts? Besides she runs retail and online stores, not the logistics of production, ha.

And it's not the new year. You can order now and get any before November, some within 10 days.

The only one doing real overtime is you. Hilarious to read.

Exactly what I've been thinking this past few weeks. They have plenty of time to build and prepare but they leave it SO late. They should be building devices early summer, if not early Spring!

I wouldn't be overly surprised, as many others have suspected, if Apple took advantage of the whole Note 7 recall and jumped the gun a couple weeks too early. This will either hurt or benefit their pre-order sales for next year's launch.

I'm also wondering why Apple is always limited in supply every year. Do they do this purposely? Or is there really a constraint in manufacturing?

I mean, you would expect that they'd know they need a lot more units on launch, so you would expect them to ramp up earlier or through more factories.

It's not like they don't have the resources and contacts.

They've had 10 years to get this right. 10 years to build enough stock. 10 years to prepare for iPhone launch day.

They get it wrong every year.

I can't see them not having any non-JB plus models for walk-ins given the fact that they had 6/6S + models in stock 3 days after launch at most physical store locations. 2 AT&T reps told me today that all AT&T stores will not have any color of the plus models. I don't know who to believe and I don't know whether to camp at Best Buy, AT&T, or Apple...

I never denied Jet black was not a popular color, nor did I state that, I understand that. My point was not everyone wants an iPhone, more specifically, Jet black with various scratches. A lot of forum members have commented on how they avoided the Jet Black due to this, further backing by Apple's release stating the Jet Black will show scratches.

I understand iPhones will scratch, more so the Jet Black color, but it will display scratches more apparent than any other colors, which is why, by my preference, avoided this color.

iPhones resell regardless of color because of their quality, it's condition and storage in most cases for buyers.
Lol. iphones of any colour, storage and condition sell if the price is right. ceterus parabus next year jet black should command slightly more than other colours

Dang I feel bad for the people lining up outside the stores
This is the first time I remember that Apple hasn't reserved some part of the stock (of all models) for its stores. Maybe because they screwed up things with their subscription model.

Didn't they say no walk ins for the iPhone 6s? I thought they announced that a week before release date.
