I just checked the apple.ca and apple.cn. Both sites said November for the 7+. Maybe I'll head down to SanLiTun and see if they have any on Friday. I'm guessing no lol

Apple seems to have listened to the Internet rumors about the demand for this gen not being there because everyone is waiting for the 10th anniversary phone and scaled down production.

Looks like they should have just kept on keeping on and done what they always do. It's funny in a way and proof that the headphone jack issue is purely a very vocal minority making a big stink.

The fact that they have sold out does not tell us a thing because we don't know how many they manufactured. We will only be able to judge the relative success or failure of the iPhone 7 once we've seen the quarterly sales figures.

I preordered an iPhone 7 Plus 128GB in Black and paid the upfront cost for Three UK. Got an email saying thatnkyou for the order , it will be delivered on Friday 16th. Heard nothing after that so called them today to check it was definitely coming. Got told " Oh I am sorry, its been delayed by Apple so will come around the 3rd of October. What a load of crap. I preordered it within 1-2 mins of it going live. I think it was always planned by Apple to limit iPhone stock purposely to drum up demand, not caring that it is putting people out who have arranged somebody to be in to accept delivery. CRAP

These guys at the apple store sydney were told of no iP7+ stock

That guy at 1:00 says he's a huge Apple fan but he doesn't even know that next year will be the iPhone 8 and it's gonna be huge. Jeez, does he even READ those 'Apple Rumours' sites you hear all about?

These are as bad as the planned obsolescence posts. They have a reason for the way they do things. Of course hype is part of it they wanna sell a product but in no way do they not want everyone to get one. It's simple logic. The faster they produce them the faster they get their money.

I don't believe that for a minute. The shortages are intentional as it helps to pump up the hype surrounding each new model. They could manufacture enough to satisfy initial demand if they wanted to but they chose not to. Everyone wants what they can't have.
Thanks for making it clear whether I should trust your analysis on such matters.

What I still find odd is the initial pre-order quantity, I was monitoring AT&T and Verizon's web site for pre-orders of the iPhone 7. What I saw was the shipping dates for many versions did not slip to beyond the 16th for almost 48 hours after the pre-sales started. Which appears to me that sales were not as strong as you'd expect. That's really different from in the past where all versions were shipping later than the first day within a couple hours in the past. There's a lot of hype built up on the first day for iPhones. I can't help but think Apple's just spinning the market a bit on this. If anything, to bolster the stock price which took a hit the first few days after announcement. So far it's working, but barely.

So, has this officially been confirmed by Apple or is it just a rumor? I knew Jet Black would most likely not be available tomorrow, but no 7 pluses?

Yeah, Tim Cook is a master of the supply chain. BS. If you don't have enough product made, you don't launch! I get one color being unavailable, but NO 7+? What a load.

The good news is that I am already enjoying my headphone to lightning adapter, and can confirm it works with the iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2!

I was going to post an unboxing video, but I was too excited to open the package.

I don't think Apple lies about numbers or any thing of that such, but I do believe they are smart enough to know there will be supply issues like this and purposely continue production without specifically addressing it. What their exact reasons are I don't know, but when you see poll numbers and talk to people about what they ordered and see the overwhelming number of people saying iPhone 7 Plus, the same way it has been the past two launches with the plus, it just doesn't make sense for them to not produce much higher quantities of them. I am referring to pre-orders with this and not overall sales, just as an FYI. I understand over time the smaller model outsells the plus largely due to price.

That's the thing this time. Apple doesn't have to lie about the numbers. They have opted to not state them at all. Funny, eh?

Demand is high for the units they have, sure - but we have no idea how many that is as Apple are refusing to release numbers. It could well be massively under what they normally ship for a launch. Just because they've sold out it's impossible to say the headphone jack etc. has not affected demand until we find out hard figures.

Under-production of the devices for the headlines once again.
insanity. you're suggesting theyre intentionally not selling actual products for actual profit so they can instead make headlines, in order to sell more products later. sorry, son, but that's not how we do it in business.

profit is the air corporations breathe. not headlines. profit.

EXACTLY ... it's not like Apple produces a NEW model every quarter THIS IS IT for 2016-2017. So Apple ISN'T expecting any sales after opening day launch?
Sure, Apple could start production earlier. But that would mean locking down the design maybe two months earlier, which would mean you get two months less of innovation. Alternatively, you could pretend that the iPhone only really ships in October or November.

wow that shows poor planning on apple's part

It's a marketing technique and nothing else - by limiting the quantities available at launch, it creates a frenzy which is picked up by the media as well as giving them 'sold out' bragging rights. It's a win win for Apple. The last thing they need given the plateau on smartphone sales are for headlines to read 'iPhones not selling as well as in previous years'.

Pure and simple, they lied.

They should never have given a release date of any of the iPhones no matter size nor capacity unless they had stock to fulfill that promise.

If production issues had surfaced they would have known weeks in advance of the keynote and could have changed the dates.

They could have even stated that the jet black would be a seperate preorder, or that it would ship at a later date.

I'm bummed. Not because I was up at 3 am, but because I have always recieved my item on launch day, and have always ordered within 1 minute of the site coming up.

This may just be my last preorder.

How do you figure it is a lie? Pre-orders went on sale last Friday and ALL phone were available. Not Apples fault that some are way more popular than others.

Yes indeed, Apple manipulates the media and it's buyers masterfully.

That's what Apple wants buyers to think...and it's working...

Sprint and AT&T reporting a 300% increase of pre-orders compared to the 6 launch....don't let reality get in the way of your conspiracy Apple has to....sell less iPhones at launch?

When you go on the pre-order page of Apple's website, it says the following;

Pre-order now. Or buy at an Apple Store beginning September 16.

Doesn't that mean they will have a reserve for walk-ins for those who didn't pre-order???

Not ALL the models are sold out. There are plenty of 7's available. There are just no Jet Black 7's or 7 Pluses so Apples site is correct by mentioning that.

"All iPhone 7 Plus and Jet Black iPhone 7 Models Sold Out for Launch Day"

Would we see such high sales without the new yearly upgrade plans? Of course not. This is the cause of these higher sales.

Note 7 replacement or iPhone 7 Plus 256gb .......... Whichever is available at T-mobile first wins!!!!!!

They've had 10 years to get this right. 10 years to build enough stock. 10 years to prepare for iPhone launch day.

They get it wrong every year.

If only is was as easy as you make out to build enough sock. These aren't say cookies with a single recipe that's repeated year in year out and easy to scale. Most components change yearly. And every year they do make more. It's not like they are still producing 4m handsets for launch.

- Design and testing finishes.
- They start producing.
- They launch around the same time very year.

They're not going to launch after the Christmas season. So it's the way it is. The only way I can see it changing is if they managed to finish up all the design, testing etc. early one year and production begins early. But there are so many other factors at play that I don't see it changing in the near term. Unless demand falls sharply.

I also don't agree with delaying it to have more available. That just means ~15 million users who could be using the device which is ready would have to wait just so others can have it at the same time. It's a phone, people should be able to wait a few weeks to get it if you missed out on the initial batch.

Selling 15-20m of something on launch weekend is tough. Something as complex as an iPhone, launched in a number of countries world wide. I can't even fathom the logistics.

Comprehension not a strong point eh?

How on earth have you missed the fact that many many users on MR have complained about botched product launches under Angela?? No iPhone 7 plus I'm retail stores = botched.

And of all the stupid things to say......Every year of an iPhone launch a model has not been available in retail stores on launch day???? Ha ha ha ha ha ha

You have not even read the story have you? Read it .....and realise how stupid your comment is. geez even read the title, its right there.

You can keep trolling me on MR if you like, I don't ignore users....it's amusing.........good luck !

I actually can't understand what point your making any more. Your grammar is difficult to follow, sorry.

I don't live my life by what MacRumors users complain about. Online users complain about everything. They complain on most articles.

I also don't think you know what trolling means. I'm having a discussion. You don't agree with me, I don't agree with you.
