Supply issues is one thing , my biggest concern is the jet black scratching easily , I'm really liking the colour.

Hope the rumours from the reviews are wrong. Will know tomorrow

This is all intentional. Stop looking for theories or blaming Cook for "bad planning". This is what Apple does every year and every year we read the same comments of people angry/surprised at apple that they didnt make enough phones.

Seeing that you're so adamant about it, what evidence do you have that they intentionally control supply to drum up demand and hype?

For me the most annoying thing is they announce the upgrade program for the UK which you can only do in store and both stores closest to me have never had any stock of the black plus 256gb at all, by the time they have one, I'll end up having to pay an extra month or so to upgrade again in time next year.

At least this will strain the black market scalpers from taking away from the experience of who actually want the iPhone.

But hey, the scalpers will have plenty of options of the 6s Plus in 32 GB.

If the rumors are true, the flippers won't even have the option of the 32GB. 7 Plus is sold out for all configs

I don't really think they need any hype to sell these phones. People are going to order them regardless.
Really? That's why they bragged about last quarters sales number at the launch event... oh wait a minute?

Scarcity in Marketing is one of Apple's main strategies and it works well with a certain demographic, which you obviously belong to.

I hope it's true Apple pulled retail stocks to satisfy IUP customers. I live in Singapore and we do not have the IUP, so I hope I can still get my hands on the 7 Plus.

Thats what I meant. All iPhone 7 configurations are sold out. But they will have plenty of 6s Plus models in the new 32 GB they can purchase.

And that's why I avoided the Jet Black color in the Plus. I personally don't want to scratch the Jet Black and have to look at it everyday for the next year. I think for some Of those who ordered this color, will realize how easily it will scratch and show.

Is this just America or is this the worldwide situation?

If it's worldwide I'm really surprised especially given the massive price hikes in the EU/UK as a lot of people feel they are getting less phone (headphone jack/Old design) for more money.
It is not a lot of people feeling that way. It's just you crybaby that can't wait a couple of weeks for your new toy.

All of you so smugly sure that Apple is lying, or that they are somehow incompetent, please! No company can accurately predict exactly how much of a particular product will sell. It's that simple. Demand was high for the Jet Black and the Plus version, and the supply they had sold out. It happens! Apple would much rather sell phones than play games with you. Selling phones makes them money!

And guess what? The world will not end if you don't have your new phone on the 16th. You'll be fine. I promise.

I thought some reviews have evidence, not rumours?

its a question of how they treated them.

I really had no intention of getting the iPhone 7, Jet black almost sold me until I saw it scratched easily. Scratching is a major put of for me in an phone, its why I returned my iPhone 5. Did not mind the 4 or 3G, i just cannot stand seeing scratched aluminium, looks tacky on a premium product.

My 6S plus space grey is scratched, but it takes some effort to get it scratched....

I just hope Apple increases production so I can at least get a rose gold iPhone 7 plus by the holidays.

This should teach those morons that camp out for several days to order online next time.
Come on we are all apple lovers.. Don't call out people like that

So they bring back a color resembling the 3G/3GS, calling it Jet Black, and people go crazy? Innovation!
Who cares what you say? People are going to buy them anyway...

I think most would be surprised on how fast Apple will catch up on Supply as well. In a few weeks time, more and more movement will happen with orders being bumped up.

Gosh it's my own silly mistake. Didn't see that you said 6s Plus 32GB. Lol.

This is one thing I'm really surprised about. The Mac Pro's outer cylindrical enclosure is also polished aluminium and yet it seemed to hold up well to scratches. Why isn't the Jet Black as hardy? Tech Crunch's review unit looked horrible after just a few days with his pockets and keys.

"People like that" are professional line-sitters who are there to immediately flip whatever merchandise they can get their hands on. The ones who do it "for fun"? All I can say is mental illness is a serious problem that affects a lot of people, and we could do a better job.

The line waiting for the first few iPhones was a publicity stunt. Free media and social attention, all they had to do was treat their customers the same way a Dominus treats his gladiators, "I own you!! Now go fight to the death in that arena over there so I can make a few extra bucks." Unless you want to believe the world's most valuable company (whose core business is tech) couldn't figure out present day's pre-ordering & reservations system sooner.

It's very difficult to judge the long term success of the 7. First week and first month figures are NOT a great indicator. That's when the fan boys / tech geeks / big spenders jump in.

Of course most of the first batch would be weighed towards the plus and the black colours. And clear there is a backlog with those. I reckon by mid October you could pick up any plus on the day. Jet black- perhaps only by November, even December

Nah, I bet you really wanted the Jet, but settled for black. I keep mine in a clear case with a screen protector. and I know, come next year - the jet black will have the best resell.

And your potential buyers pool will understand some tiny scratches are inevitable :)

Wrong. I actually ordered silver in 4.7 and Gold in 5.5. I had Space Gray for years. Black was my last choice. A potentials buyers pool is based off storage tier and condition, it's not always about the color.

And no, not every buyer wants an iPhone with some "Tiny scratches'.

Look, there's no denying jet black is the flagship colour this year - just as rose gold was in '15 and gold in '13 and white in '11.

My point re scratches is that minuscule scratches on the jet black have been socialised to the market - so they will be "expected" when you look to sell it next year

Well at least they came out with a statement so that people wouldn't waste their time. I know a couple people who were planning to try and get one by going to the Apple Store early on launch day.

I never denied Jet black was not a popular color, nor did I state that, I understand that. My point was not everyone wants an iPhone, more specifically, Jet black with various scratches. A lot of forum members have commented on how they avoided the Jet Black due to this, further backing by Apple's release stating the Jet Black will show scratches.

I understand iPhones will scratch, more so the Jet Black color, but it will display scratches more apparent than any other color, which is why, by my preference, avoided this color.

iPhones resell regardless of color, because of their quality, it's condition and storage in most cases for buyers.
