I'm not an apple hater but you have to be seriously delusional at apple's mobile division:

1) keeping ipad 2 (30pin dock) and selling for $399. This is just asinine if you are buying this thing in end of 2013 era.

2) apple is just sitting on their laurels. The ipad line up is just pathetic. The new ipads use the same A7 but leaves out touchID, no wireless AC, no resolution difference in screen quality, no new camera, not even 720p slow mo since the A7 can handle it, nothing but the same retina screen shrunken down.

3) The new ipad air is equally shet. IT's 1lb now. Ooh and ahh. Seriously, if the ipad was so bad in weight there would not be 100 millions sold so far. Sure it's lighter but there's just nothing else added in.

4) The pricing is just ludicrous while you have very very awesome tablets from samsung notes, other manufacturers that offer a ton more.

I just sold my iphone 5 and got a note 3. I'm telling you, 4K video is just the tip of the iceberg icing cake here. There is everything wonderful about having a 5.7" hand holdable one hand usable behemoth that does everything right and well and more advanced than any iOS 7 device can do.

I don't want to point out the flaws of iOS 7 but seriously, after steve jobs passed, apple just doesn't know what to do and this proves it.

iOS 7 is just lipstick on a pig that is on its 7 year too old out the door type pig. The competition has caught up and overtaken apple at what they do best: software & hardware integration.

I'm sorry, but the only thing the ipad has left is the ipad apps that are fantastic and the ecosystem (airplay, itunes radio, itunes match). That's about it.

I sat thru this entire presentation and can't help but shake my head in disbelieft this is all apple has to come up with in one year's time to upgrade. We know you are here to make money apple, but seriously, this is just greedy.

Sorry but my next tablets will have to be alternatives because I cannot and will not enjoy iOS 7 on their tablet. It's such a waste of precious space and it's pathetically boring and lacks so many advanced features that I'd like compared to even my phablet note 3.

You guys who are raving about these new ipads seriously need to go out and try and use the competition for an extensive period of time. You'd be surprised like how I am now with the competition.

Can't agree more. I bought a note 10.1 2014 a week ago and I am completely thrilled! Multitasking at its finest. And 3gb ram on tablet? All apps stay on memory, no more tab reloading, just fantastic.

Lighter, thinner and faster is exciting enough for me. I'll be upgrading from the iPad 4. I'm disappointed that I can't pre-order. Touch ID would be nice but not a deal breaker. I hope all that are unimpressed with the iPad Air will stay out of the line at the Apple store on Nov 1 so I can get one. :D

Re-updated first post, I made a few errors in the pictures and added more details/links :)

Agree with you 100%. I am seriously considering the Nexus 7 32GB which costs $269. I love iOS and the Apple Ecosystem, but $499 for a 32GB iPad Mini 2 is a crime, regardless if it has touch ID or not, its just too expensive.

Very well said, the magic seems gone. It was a great run.

I still think an iPad is the best tablet for apps,
but buy a used one and save some money,
and laptops... come on $1299 is supposed to be a big deal?
Its an dual core i5 with on chip Intel graphics.
And pricing on the 15" models,
Not many left wanting to spend like that anymore.

Then the new Mac Pro ... wont need many in the US factory to build those orders.

Any news on the new smart covers? Are they same as the old ones? I rather get the smart case but its so freakin expensive.

Wish the air would've came with touchid. To separate from the mini. And 5 mp camera still? Prolly the 2 most negative things, other than the price and 16gb base still. If consumers act with their wallets and do not buy it should make apple have to upgrade considerably, and soon

I'm definitely going to get one. I sold my iPad 2 for a good price recently and this will be my upgrade, happy to stick with it for 2-3 years.

No touch id is not a big deal for me and I'm glad there's a 128gb option.

I was hoping to have one up and running in time for my travels on 7th November... somehow I doubt this is going to happen.

There is no pre-order available.

Awesome, so we get to go through the same hell like buying a 5s.

They're the old ones. I agree $80?! Even $40 is expensive.

Exactly, I thought they put the $329 price to include retina. Even then I would of allowed a $20 price hike, but $70?! No way!

I've been sitting on my iPad 3, and the air looks like it's finally going to get me to upgrade. The lighter weight is what interests me most, since I've been toying with a mini lately. Looks like I can have the best of both worlds. That being said, I have no money so I'll wait until the Air 2 or whatever they call it is released.

I agree too. I was waiting all keynote for the iPads and once I saw the photo of it w/ no Touch ID, I was ready to stop watching. Did not think of the other missing features w/ the A7 chip like slow-mo, better camera, etc. but now that you've mentioned it I do wish Apple could've wow'ed everyone by really putting the top of the line iPads with all the bells and whistles.

i'm buying one only because i sold my ipad 2 back in february. but i am extremely disappointed in the new ipad air. not much as changed between form factor weight and size (which are almost always a given with apple) and a faster processor (also a given). i am disappointed that there is no touch i d same processor as a iphone 5s. drop the ipad 4 to 400 and i'm buying that.

That is outrageous in my opinion. I believe I paid $60 for my current smart cover and even that was ridiculous.

I love both the new Air and the mini, market leading devices. The android whiners b*tch no matter what apple release, I mean seriously p*ss off to google if you don't like it, you won't be missed.

Meantime I shall enjoy myself some Air goodness, download Mavericks for free and get ready for an awesome Mac Pro.

I've done the Android tablet shuffle and I'm back to Apple again - in my experience Android tabs are buggy and slow, with phone apps that look horrible on the bigger screen.

So for me, worth the extra cash.

I'm with you. I've got an Android phone and while it is much more capable than my wife's iPhone, the use experience on hers is so much better, and that is what matters at the end of the day. Well, that and screen size...iPhones are tiny.

I was looking forward to the touch ID, I'm definitely going to buy an iPad Air however if I wouldn't of sold my iPad 4, I would've kept it until the next iPad.
