Agreed. People are acting like the current 45mm doesn't exist. We have something to guesstimate this 49mm watch against. It can't be that much bigger in reality. If you can wear the 45mm today without a problem, you should be able to also wear this new 49mm.I just don’t get how it will be massive. I don’t have thick wrists, but I’ve always found the AW small on my wrist. S6 44m for example.
The point is that Apple Watch must be still elegant and convenient to wear after you end doing sport and go back to office or continue your normal day. Wearing a massive-sized watch is something that only a few man can do without looking ridiculous. Apple Watch health functions are also only useful if you wear your watch all day, not only when doing sport. I'm OK if Apple wants to create a specific product for a small % of users that appreciate Garmin high-end watches durability and battery life, as long as we still have the normal-sized Apple Watch that doesn't lack all sensors and functions the Pro model has. This is a competitor to the Garmin Enduro 2. The people who want these don't give a flying hoot that it looks big on their wrists. They want the functions. The battery lasts for days while the features go continuously not just periodically and it has solar charging. Serious athletes use Garmin. Long distance racers use Garmin. This must burn Apple's butt. So now they are going for it.
They may already have the same sensors.I'm OK if Apple wants to create a specific product for a small % of users that appreciate Garmin high-end watches durability and battery life, as long as we still have the normal-sized Apple Watch that doesn't lack all sensors and functions the Pro model has.
In Australian $’s, a US$1000 is AU$1475. The top Garmin (fēnix 7X - Sapphire Solar Edition) is AU$1800Check out the prices on high end Garmin watches
The 12.9” iPad is the iPad Pro. So I’m not sure what the point is.It’s funny that the biggest iPhones will be called Max and Plus, and the biggest watch Pro, while the biggest iPad is just called 12.9".
Yes, if you a adult man with big wrists. I've never seen a woman wearing 45mm watch. It also looks bad on younger man or those with smaller wrists in general, which are many. A 49mm watch would look silly on 90% of Apple Watch users, considering both sexes and all ages. The vast majority of Apple Watch users I know, bought the watch because it is elegant and convenient to wear. Apple Watch is still very much a fashion product, along with everything else.Agreed. This is purely anecdotal, but I see more people with large Garmin watches than Apple Watches, so I'm not entirely sure which market is the smallest. The point is that Apple Watch must be still elegant and convenient to wear after you end doing sport and go back to office or continue your normal day. I know several women that wear 44/45 mm watches. Doesn't look out of place at all.Yes, if you a adult man with big wrists. I've never seen a woman wearing 45mm watch. You saying this new watch looks like a Nautilus. I reckon it looks like a flattened scuba mask. The bulge on the right side wouldn't stick out as much if they countered it with one on the left to give some semblance of symmetry. You know like how Gerald Genta did when he designed the Nautilus.Jony Ive: “The Apple Watch is part of my life now and it’s hard to live without it, but the one watch that I do find myself admiring is my Nautilus. It's a bizarre, bizarre object that I have huge affection for. The more you look at it, you struggle with comprehension of its geometry. I do not wear it as much anymore, but it’s a beautiful watch, I think.”

Right. And I hate to repeat myself but again, anyone who can wear the 45mm currently fine should be able to also wear this. Going from 45mm - 49mm is not a massive comical leap.I’m surprised so many here think it’s comically big. Have you guys never seen dudes in public wearing those humongous luxury watches? Seeing those every now and then in the subway.
So I absolutely don’t think the Pro is too oversized. This thing will have its target group.
(I’m sticking to my 42mm tho)
Totally. But the Fashion Police here say it wouldn’t look good on 90% of people and they have spoken! This is purely anecdotal, but I see more people with large Garmin watches than Apple Watches, so I'm not entirely sure which market is the smallest.

It continues the great tradition of this forum and the internet in general. Everyone thinks they are an expert in every field. But the Fashion Police here say it wouldn’t look good on 90% of people and they have spoken!
I guess this depends on your social circle. If you are rapper, it will be common for you to see many people with massive golden chain with diamonds on their necks. If you a lawyer, not so much. It is the same for watches. If Apple decides to release a bigger portfolio of Apple Watches in different sizes with different functionalities for every type of taste and necessity, they can do that. I think that a more universal solution that fits a wide variety of people and situations, is the fundamental characteristic of Apple Watch since its release. That's the reason why Apple invested so heavily on different case material, and bands specifically - a single watch suitable for the gym and going to a wedding or a business meeting, by just switching the strap. With the Pro model, that would no longer be the case, unless you want find yourself wearing a watch out of place. This is purely anecdotal, but I see more people with large Garmin watches than Apple Watches, so I'm not entirely sure which market is the smallest.

Well no, right? At least not true for phones / laptopsApple Dictionary: Pro = LARGE
The iPad Pro is also the 11". So there is no special denomination for the largest iPad except for “12.9"”. This is opposed to the iPhone, were the larger size is named Max for the Pro and Plus for the non-Pro.The 12.9” iPad is the iPad Pro. So I’m not sure what the point is.
I bet the "bulge" won't look as prominent on the real model. CAD renders don't really do product designs justice in general. You saying this new watch looks like a Nautilus. By that reasoning, you can go arbitrarily large by adding enough 10% steps.Right. And I hate to repeat myself but again, anyone who can wear the 45mm currently fine should be able to also wear this. Going from 45mm - 49mm is not a massive comical leap.
Not at all but you likely know that and are just being pedantic.By that reasoning, you can go arbitrarily large by adding enough 10% steps.
