The pricing on this slide confirms:

iPhone Xs Plus: US$999
iPhone Xs: US$899
iPhone Xc: US$699

The slides said the price are unconfirmed, but those are their expected price. And I hope they are true.

It is funny when I reported similar news to MacRumors and no one takes Weibo seriously. But when the same piece gets taken up by anyone of the "mainstream" Apple blog / news / site they all decides to report it.

Would be better if they just started use same name every year and just model year like the computers

Like iPhone Plus, iPhone X and iPhone C 2018 model year and next year 2019

I'd imagine the slide just used their best guess at the names, based on the past, for internal discussions. I see no reason to assume the names they used on an internal presentation slide are Apple's "official" launch models names. Personally, call them Larry, Moe, and Curly for all the difference it makes.

Valid point. I doubt any company other than Apple knows the names

Sorry. Never again. The market has moved in the opposite direction. I am talking about NEW phones to be clear, not ones that have already been released. Many of them will remain for a time.
Not necessarily. There are many of us who like smaller phones. The issue is that since Jobs death, there’s no one left at Apple that knows what people want or need anymore. I still remember when Steve was alive and Cook made fun of Android fragmentation because he said they didn’t know what they were doing. Well, now he’s in the same position. He’s now doing the same. Because he has no clue about what the market wants, the number of different screen sizes have exploded after Jobs death. Even iPads have multiplied in SKUs and screen sizes. This was a simple way Jobs use to figure out if a company and management knew what they were doing in tech, how many SKUs and model variations they offered. I remembered that there was a meme making fun of people holding their iPads up to their ears, well, we’re approaching that soon. These things are now getting closer to the size of iPad minis.

On a side note, the same thing has been going on in the luxury watch space. For decades, watches were small. Then from the middle of 2000’s manufacturers started making increasingly bigger watches. Now the trend is reversing because they’ve gotten ridiculous. You now need giant meat hooks to support some of the watch cases. They’re literally made for people like The Rock, Stallone, or Swartzenegger. How many of us are that big?

Now that there's going to be another letter immediately following the "X", there's just too many mental acrobatics required to read this thing as the "Ten Es". It's gunna be the "Ex Es" no matter what apple says. In fact, the presenter up on stage (likely Phil) will sound foolish trying to pawn this name off as the Ten Es.
"Excess" it will forever be.

Like iPhone Plus, iPhone X and iPhone C 2018 model year and next year 2019

iPhone Xs is shorter than iPhone X 2018 / iPhone C is shorter than iPhone C 2018
"iPhone X plus 2018" is even worse, iPhone Xs plus will be just fine

Normally I wouldn't complain too much about price. In the end, I almost always opt for top-of-the-line anyway. But for some reason, when I look at the pricing of an iPhone and say it out loud, I always get a little sick about it.

$1000 for a phone. When you figure in the cost of your wireless service, you really have to look at it with some perspective—which most people don't. They just want the latest and greatest and don't think about the cost.

I'm not sure I get the personal value out of it. I love having the 8 Plus, but I can tell you that I'm never buying one again... and it's strictly due to the cost.

I guess I'm at the age where I've simplified my life enough that I can't take advantage of everything the iPhone can do, so I can't justify the cost like I can with a laptop or desktop.

Same, I can't justify a high cost too.

“Those figures roughly line up with Kuo's expectation that the 6.5-inch OLED device will be priced at $900 to $1,000, while the 5.8-inch OLED second-generation iPhone X will be $800 to $900, and the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will be $600 to $700.“

I wish we’d stop giving Kuo credit for guessing the cost of the iPhone when he gives a $100 range. Most of us could guess with that level of accuracy.

When I first read about the iPhone XS I was super excited because I thought it was a small iPhone X (because of the XS = Extra-Small):oops:

How about we just call it iPhone. Just like the Mac lineup. MacBook, MacBook Air, iMac, etc. Differentiate it by the year.

Part of the problem is probably none of the editors at MacRumors can read Chinese. They don’t know what’s credible news. Their loss.

Before Kuo’s report, most people were expecting a $1,400 iPhone Xs Plus.

Kuo has access to the BOM numbers and can estimate the MSRP from that. I would give him credit unless September 12 pricing proves otherwise.

Agreed. There aren't real leakers these days, just people that make fake CAD's and print their own version of the box sticker.

Curious to know how they will price the current 8 and 8 Plus, perhaps the usual $100 discount bumped down?

I’m with you. Used to get the newest iphone every year. Haven’t upgraded since the 7 though and don’t plan to this year. My 7 works great for the half dozen apps I use regularly. Also, I’m trying to spend less time online, particularly when I’m on the go so I’ll be getting the LTE Apple Watch 4. I’m really excited to be able to leave my phone behind and still know that I can be reached when I’m needed.
