Curious to know how they will price the current 8 and 8 Plus, perhaps the usual $100 discount bumped down?

That would move the 8 to $599 and 8 Plus to $699. If the price of the XC is to be $699, then some folks have a choice to make. Guess we'll find out on Wed what will happen to the 8's but having two phones at $699 doesn't seem right. It could be that the 8 Plus gets dropped to avoid this situation, given that the XC would have a large enough screen to essentially replace the 8 Plus (albeit at a different aspect ratio and with a notch).

Now that there's going to be another letter immediately following the "X", there's just too many mental acrobatics required to read this thing as the "Ten Es". It's gunna be the "Ex Es" no matter what apple says. In fact, the presenter up on stage (likely Phil) will sound foolish trying to pawn this name off as the Ten Es.
"Excess" it will forever be.
or "Tennis". LOL! as in Ten S
I just hope it's not the Xs Max as some have suggested.
iPhone Tennis Match

It doesn’t matter to me but imo it makes sense to match the naming to the rest of their products and then just reference them by year.

Like MacBooks for example...

Late 2018 iPhone
Late 2018 5.8 iPhone Pro
Late 2018 6.5 iPhone Pro

In the same way as
Macbook
13” MacBook Pro
15” MacBook Pro

At least it would be consistent then

"Pro" means something (at least, it used to) when applied to a computer. It is completely meaningless when applied to a phone.

Thank god because Max sounded stupid. Reminds me of some piece of stereo equipment more than a phone.

Oh wait Google Home Max was stereo equipment.

There exists a demographic out there whom are the opposite and use their iPhone/iPad far more than laptops or desktops and therefore have different personal values. £999 iPhone X is absolutely not expensive considering how much I use it daily for work and personal items as well as it's strong resell value. I have no problem paying the same for the Xs Plus.

I used to have a MacBook Pro, iPad, an iPhone 7 Plus. Nowadays, my iPhone is my primary device - gave my iPad to family, still have the MacBook Pro but it rarely gets used.

I’m OK with paying the higher price for the larger iPhone as my 7 Plus will be used by my partner and I will not be refreshing any other Apple devices.

At the end of the day, the higher prices make me get the most out of the tools I already have. It also means that Apple gets less money from me in the long run.

Apple has knocked down one of its minor markets out of its map...with its probable pricing of iPhones. Maybe they will sell iPhone 7 Plus 32 GB for $899 in my place as a festival offer! We can sleep peacefully during Pacific Time Zone during Keynote since our excitements were overshadowed by its cost last few years...Good luck to Apple and iPhones!

I would be absolutely shocked if the larger iPhone comes in at $1000.00. I fully expect it to be 1299.00. When is the last time Apple increased the screen size but didn’t increase the price?

This naming makes sense, especially if the 6.1" model comes in various colors like 5C did.

It's either iPhone XC or iPhone 9.

Since the home button and TouchID will be gone, and the 6.1" will adopt the X design, it's more closely related to iPhone X than iPhone 8.

So I think iPhone's non-roman numbering is a thing of the past. It'll be X(?) from this generation onwards.

Then again, iPhone XIIIS in a few years would be pretty hilarious :D

By that time I hope it's just iPhone and iPhone Plus. Or :apple:Phone and :apple:Phone Plus.

Aside from new iPhones, redesigned iPad Pro and Apple Watch models are also expected to be announced.

LOL MR keeps going back and forth between this. They believe the iPad Pro is most likely going to be announced in a separate event in October.

Several additional updates are on the horizon for Apple's Mac and iPad lineups, but in past years when there have been a slew of fall updates to unveil, Apple has held two events: one in September focusing on iPhones and the Apple Watch and one in October to focus on Macs and iPads.

While it's possible Apple could unveil new Macs and iPads at its September event, we believe the company is going to wait until an October event simply due to time constraints and the sheer number of devices that are in the works for the fall.

Ahum, not all Indians are poor, still plenty of them which can afford them.
1% out of a billion is still 10.000.000.

Don't you have to add 25% China tariff?
Yes, the tariffs. This can't come at a worse time for Apple. Not only do you have Apple and it's chief supplier, Hon Hai, at high inventory levels not seen since the financial crisis of 2008, but you have this high inventory trend throughout the tech sector. Tim Cook knows this, there's a reason he sold his bonus stock shares the second they came into his possession a couple of weeks ago. I think the record high share prices for Apple and across the tech sector are peaking. The tariffs are just going to accelerate the problem for Apple (and every other corporation in this space). Nobody I know is going to pay USD1250 for a phone (not including AppleCare)...on the positive side, I think there will be some great deals on "refurbished" iPhones pretty soon. And I would not be at all surprised if they come out with a very affordable SE2, if not on Wednesday, in the near future. We'll see...

We decided to go with this, for one our app updates we're working on today (at least thru Wed morning, when we'll ALL know for sure):

* X2 Pro Plus ($999) <- 6.5" OLED + 4 GB / 1.33 GB + 64 GB + 512 MB Dedicated Burst Photo DRAM*

* X2 Pro ($899) <- 5.86" OLED + 4 GB / 1.33 GB + 64 GB + 512 MB Dedicated Burst Photo DRAM*

* X2 ($699) <- 6.1" LCD + 3 GB / 667 MB + 64 GB

where X2 simply means "2nd-Gen iPhoneX-style" iPhone.

AAPL could go with that, or possibly even reverse it to the 2X.

It's fairly obvious to us that they MUST pick & start using something now that has legs ... meaning, NO changes NEXT year @ this time, except for a bump-up in the numbering !

The Number after the DRAM number represents "Usable" DRAM.

* We believe the Dedicated Burst Photo DRAM will enable Full-Res 12 Mpx photo capture @ 120 fps ... for very short periods ... ONLY 14 photos, so ONLY 0.12 secs of capture duration ... but, it's an important step in the right direction ! ... & it will finally put some visibility into an area that has been neglected by AAPL !

You are misinformed, I know and I am not even a U.S. citizen nor live there.

Edit: Does insider knowledge rings a bell, that's all I say about it.

This naming scheme makes much more sense and brands the entire lineup using the "X" moniker

XS Max was a bit ridiculous lol. They already have a powerful "Plus" brandname...heck Apple created that brand image and pretty much everyone who has a larger phone in their lineup has copied the "plus" branding since

The pricing on this slide confirms:

iPhone Xs Plus: US$999
iPhone Xs: US$899
iPhone Xc: US$699

With 64gb. An Xs Plus with 64gb seems comical. :apple:
[doublepost=1536518174][/doublepost]XC for the 6.1” would be logical given it’s reported color palet. The 5c was similar with c=color. :apple:
[doublepost=1536518345][/doublepost]
whats the c stand for? cheap:rolleyes:

C= Color. It was available in a wide variety of color choices. As the 6.1” will be. Very smart move on Apple’s part IMO. Really going to be in demand for the “Bling Purchase.” :apple:

Wow the Xs is going to be cheaper than I thought.

I presume that’s 64 GB at entry level.

At that price & capacity, Apple are going to sell a tonne of these. We’re probably looking at IPhone 6 levels of units being shifted.

I guess Apple feels it can take that pricing as there’s going to a ‘super’ upgrade cycle that'll be triggered.

And they’ll be lots of shutterbugs shooting 4K (will the camera be 5k?) and will thus aim (geddit?) for the much more expensive 256 GB version (if Apple copies the 8 capacities which I’m sure it will).

The naming is much more sensible too. Plus always sucked but not as much as Max. And at least people know what it means.

And Pepsi’s lawyers won’t have to work weekends preparing writs to fire off at Apple.

Funny though, it made me think of the 5c again.

I know it’s very very wrong (and I never owned one) but I liked that phone!

I mean, who didn’t secretly want to own the bright yellow version? Ok only me...

It was one of Apple’s most misjudged phone models as they thought they were going to sell loads but everyone wanted the faster, Touch ID enabled & let’s face it, classier looking, 5c.

And we probably have it to thank the 5c the bright oversaturated current look of iOS which was intended to match the 5c.

Hmm. Maybe now I don’t like the 5c as much after all!

There is No consistency with the term ‘Pro’ for an iPhone. It’s a ‘communication’ device. Given that Pro really just means the highest spec possible for a product, I think would be a horrible marketing practice if they applied that directly to the iPhone, which they have not over the years.
