And I paid $120 for a used iPhone se 64 GB when I came to my senses and thought why the hell am I paying over a $1,000 for a cell phone. So much happier with my current phone situation.
I imagine the 512GB Xs plus will be £1,300

Because it’s not nearly just a cell phone and some people have disposable income?

This is probably the most interesting time of the year, right before the keynote, as I’m curious to see if there be anything else that might be leaked ‘accidentally or intentionally’ before Wednesday. I think we all have a good grasp of what to expect, but the iPhone titles were definitely confusing and not exactly sure where it would lead. But the term ‘Max’ definitely was nothing more than horrible nomenclature.

You are misinformed, I know and I am not even a U.S. citizen nor live there.

Edit: Does insider knowledge rings a bell, that's all I say about it.
How so, Perry? And what difference does citizenship make? Just curious.
Cheers, Mosey

My experience with the red-headed stepchild known as the iPhone 5C would make me very leery about ourchasing another Apple phone bearing the “C” moniker.

Still love when I see the occasional 5C in the wild. I saw a green one being used last week, and a white one the month before that. Great phones...just should have been colored glass instead. Releasing plastic at a time when the “flagship” was glass and aluminum really just didn’t make much sense. Too many egos saying the plastic looked and felt cheap.

Not impressed C and lots of colours makes it like a 5C and not a more upmarket brand like IPhone 8 was.

Are the doing this to push iPhone 8 owners onto the XS?

That would move the 8 to $599 and 8 Plus to $699. If the price of the XC is to be $699, then some folks have a choice to make. Guess we'll find out on Wed what will happen to the 8's but having two phones at $699 doesn't seem right. It could be that the 8 Plus gets dropped to avoid this situation, given that the XC would have a large enough screen to essentially replace the 8 Plus (albeit at a different aspect ratio and with a notch).

Move the 8 to $599, and the 7 down to $499?
Hopefully the 8 will not be dropped. I know somebody that would feel truly sorry.

These names I am much more likely to believe. I didn't believe in the Max thing... but who knows, maybe they'll surprise.

edit: it's called Max!

‘Exxy’ in Australia is slang for ‘expensive’. The ‘xc’...

So there is the iPhone Expensive and the iPhone Excess. Despite Apple’s insistence, people in the real world don’t call it the iPhone ‘ten’, they call it the iPhone ‘ex’. Trying to be clever with Roman numerals was a mistake.

This was a good opportunity for Apple to simplify he naming and drop all numbers (iPhone, iPhone Pro) and they appear to have messed it up.

The other option for the iPhone Xs (ten ess) is that people will call it the iPhone Tennis. Ugh.

Let’s hope these rumors are false. There is still a chance.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the skipping of iPhone 7s and calling it iPhone 8 was a marketing ploy to sell more to certain superstitious group of people who love that number....

Yeah. Because there’s no precedent in anything Apple has ever put out before that uses Roman numerals. Nothing that I can think of at least.

You're kidding right?

Apple I, II, III. Mac II, Mac LC II & III, Mac Classic II ... one could also argue that the Mac II "x" line was also inspired by roman numerals (e.g. IIcx, IIci, IIvx, etc.).

I’m surprised you don’t see how silly your naming scheme is. Yes this iPhone 26c, 34 plus
The x lineup is a fresh start.
I’m surprised you don’t realize that when the number 9 and the number 11 are put together, it brings up horrible memories for all of us.

Okay but really, why does everybody care about the naming? They are guesses every year and no one can tell for sure how are the going to be called.

Were you around for the change from PowerBook to MacBook? That was a controversial time. A lot of people hated the MacBook name when it was announced. I haven't heard any complaints about the name in many years though. People like to complain and then move on.
