Nope, there’s a whole other thread complaining that apple should license iOS to others to make more varied hardware.
Oh ok.
I just had never heard that argument. I’ve heard the opposite though, that Android is so fragmented that it’s become a huge problem.

You’re using the original se, from 2016 on the original battery??? Holy cow, you must have to charge that thing at every meal, lol.
Nope, just once a day. I mean, if I do a FaceTime call, then it runs out super quickly. But if I'm just doing text/email/web/phone calls, it lasts the full day.

Genuinely asking, is there any reason for a camera bump as opposed to a thicker phone with the cameras flush?

This redesign (sharp, strong edges) loses some of it's appeal once you realize it still won't sit flat on a table without wobbling.

Agreed 100%. Please make a flush model. Would gladly trade some camera quality and/or thinness.

The notch is an ugly design concept.

That’s not what ‘concept‘ means, which actually means its an ‘intention or plan‘ that hasn’t happened yet, the notch is a reality that it currently exists is what I think you mean to say. Either way, I’ll accept that you deflected from my previous question.

All I want to see is a 3D model of the 5.4” iPhone 12 beside the original SE. Or at least height and width measurements. Really anxious to see how it compares to the original SE. I didn’t upgrade to the new SE because I found it too big.
The 5.4” is huge compared to the OG SE. It’s the same width as the SE 2020, but not as tall. Not quite a half-inch shorter in height iirc.

They’re introducing 4 types of iPhones every year, yet they can’t introduce one without a notch. Cmon.

"Easily"

And you'd be complaining about bezel size anyway.

Doubtful. It would just be like my 11-inch iPad Pro but smaller.

they certainly could easily design that.

whether or not the technology exists in components that are small enough to fit in that space to improve on Or deliver at the very least the Same quality specs we have today, at a price that is affordable for both Apple and their business model, which includes the consumer, is a completely different discussion however.

and based on what a few different leakers have shared, it is not possible at present

Other companies have done it. Heck, Apple even showed they could do with the iPad Pro.

In this thread: This iPhone is ugly! I thought it was going to have *this feature*! What happened to the rumors of *this new thing*!? I'm not buying!

Release time: I'm buying!!!!
I am on iPhone upgrade program , I guess going to upgrade anyway lol

You do know the bezels on the iPad are the same thickness as the notch on the iPhone.

No. It would be on the top.
If you‘re talking about the very thin bezel not counting the notch they wouldn’t fit in there. The og post was talking about how they fit it into the iPad but the iPad bezel is much thicker than the iPhone bezel. The thickness of the ipad bezel is on par with the notch because that‘s the amount of space they need for those component.

Looks like my iPhone X with an ESR bumper case on it. This bumper case is so beat up and scratched and bent, but has saved my phone many many times when dropped.

They're basically out of ideas and going back to the 4/4s/5/5s/SE design.
And that would be... totally fine by me! The 4 is still my favorite design, followed by the 5. I hate the rounded edges. Maybe I can go back to not using a case.
Also, there was that cool camera app that took a 360 degree picture by vibrating the phone so it spun around while standing up. I always felt bad for that developer once they switched to rounded edges...

Do people actually notice the notch when using the phone? I'm aware it's there, but my eyes are never drawn to it. I couldn't care less if the notch gets smaller or goes away.

They released one literally weeks ago.

no one has shrunk the Face ID components down

even the company that supplies Apple has not been able to do so yet. This has been confirmed by supply chain leakers several times over the last few years. At the moment al they can do to reduce the notch size is to move the speaker up and squish the other components together (this is what the iPhone 12 lineup will allegedly do), but there are no component size changes

Regarding the iPad; there is a very Distinct and different bezel size between the iPad Pro redesign and iPhones. I recommend you hold the two together to see how thick the bezel is on the iPad vs any notched iPhone, even the lcd models that have thicker bezels at baseline (Xr, 11)

Regarding other manufacturers; no other company uses the same components as the Face ID tech. Not one other company.

The only company that has come close is google with the pixel 4/4XL, that system is very similar. and they had to add a full forehead to their phone to fit all their components (which included a radar system, but I digress)

I would not mind moving the whole display lower and having a bar at the top.
The "ears" are still distracting to me.
