No LTPO display, engineers struggling to get 120hz working properly, same bezels as 11 pro max by the looks of it. 😔

Might keep my XS max for another year.

same here. I would like to have a new design but from the software point of view I still see no reason to update, especially for that kind of money you have to spent. At the end of the day I always go back just using the same apps. Doesn’t matter what iPhone it is ...

LOL. Half the people: “apple’s too limiting! They should license iOS to others!” Half the people: “too many choices! It hurts my head!”
That’s conflating things. People may say too limiting but that’s usually about the OS, not about 5 different models of the same iPhone. The Pixel phone is never released in 5 different sizes.

Nope, there’s a whole other thread complaining that apple should license iOS to others to make more varied hardware.

this is an old CAD, from Dec 2019 actually

The most recent renderings do not have that per multiple leakers

this is kinda what I figured (or something along these lines)—seems like an artifact of the obviously untrue rumors that it’ll support the Pencil

(I’m so waiting for the first time that I eat the words of my own comments after a product introduction, an exciting rite-of-passage on MR :p)

I would like to sincerely apologize to the members of this site and to those participating in this forum conversation. Earlier, I made a comment about taking off my pants and rubbing my “nob” on my iPhone notch. This comment was made in jest and is simply not true. I have never participated in any sexual acts towards my phone. With the assistance of Macrumors moderators, I now see that my comments could have been taken seriously, and thus been offensive, vulgar and inappropriate to some viewers. The post has since been removed and I will refrain from similar posts in the future. Again, I’m sorry and can only hope that you all will forgive me. I would like to move forward from this incident. I love and respect you all very much.

Starting to feel a little convoluted with all the choices.

So that now leaves us with the following:

iPhone 12
iPhone 12 (other one)
iPhone 12 Pro
iPhone 12 Pro Max
iPhone SE (the second one)
All the previous iPhones (11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, iPhone XR, etc etc)

Nonetheless, still a distraction that many people don't prefer.

No, it’s not a distraction. And Who is ‘many‘ people? I’ve never come across anyone outside Macrumors that’s ever even mentioned the notch on the iPhone, ever. (And yes, I’m heavily involved into tech alike.)

Yes please. The only iPhones I have owned are the 4, 5S, and SE, which I've been rocking since 2016 (and it's still going strong on the original battery). If this comes true and I can get a flat 5.4 inch model, I will have successfully avoided the entire era of rounded iPhones, which I have never liked.
You’re using the original se, from 2016 on the original battery??? Holy cow, you must have to charge that thing at every meal, lol.

I am using an SE from 2017. One charge per day still does it.

I refuse to buy those oversized Tim Cook soap bars. Waiting for the 5.4 inch model to pull the trigger...

Same thing happened with iPhone 11. We all thought the notch would be smaller, but then the leaks came out.

They’re probably waiting until iPhone 13 to remove the notch completely.

Just because people take an image and photoshop it doesn't mean it's feasible. There is a who level of PCB circuit design internally that needs to be arranged. In doing so, there is also a level of manufacturing changes and processes which can cause this new design to be inefficient in other performance areas. Do you have proof this is feasible?

They could easily design the iPhone without the notch as seen here:

Since they shrunk the bezels on the the 6.1" version they should have kept the same body dimensions and increased the screen size to 6.2" ish. Instead they kept the same screen size and shrunk down the whole body.

Does anyone know what CAD software that is? Looks really cool!

It is SIEMENS NX. They have used it for all of their stuff as long as I can remember. When I learned it in college I believe the version 19 splash screen had the lamp iMac on it.

You may not have, but I have. The notch is an ugly design concept. Stop justifying it. You are loosing all credibility.

First of all, the notch and camera lenses haven't changed because case manufacturers don't need to know all these details. Apple won't share everything new in the CAD.

Second, these look like the very first CADs that Jon Prosser shared, which are not the final design.
I’ve been arguing that elsewhere all day, it’s for a case maker so notch is useless to them. No it was for a screen protector then notch would hopefully show smaller
