People wanted revolution, not another slippery evolution. This is what the 6s should have looked like.
What company is doing something more than evolutions? What is the trend of their sales (high end models) compared with iPhones?

Samsung manages to keep things exciting every year in their designs, even while borrowing from the previous year. Apple has gone so minimalist with the iPhone that it's become void of any design at all.

Because there is more practical away of connecting. The one that does not involve wires coming out of your pockets, t-shirt, around your neck and down your ears. Quality may be questionable currently but wireless is the future and 3.5mm is going to be a history and there is no question about it.

The practicality of having to pair and charge headphones vs. plugging them in is debatable.

Reminder. This is a rumor.

And also some repetition. Apple ruled the mp3-player domain simply by a combination of great diversification together with regularly updating the design/format. They should do the same with the iPhone. Smartphones are a commodity by a long time now.

I believe the camera will have a ring like the iPhone 4, sit flush and that bigger module can easily house two cameras inside for the rumoured dual-lens thing. I refuse to believe it will be a 'Pro'-only feature.

Gah, this looks even closer to the iPod Touch released way back in 2012.

If this is true then it clearly demonstrates that Tim Cook is "afraid" to break away from original Steve Jobs approved designs and will continue to regurgitate old designs for at least a few more years. In case you haven't noticed, there has not been a "new" Apple device design since Steve Jobs and the iPhone 6 and supposed 7 are using design cues originally created for the 5th generation iPod Touch.

I am sure Jony Ives must be bored to tears these days simply fitting new components into old case designs, he certainly has NOT been utilized well since the Steve Jobs era.

Of course the few accessories that were designed after Steve Jobs were total fails, like the iPhone tumor battery case and the iPad Pro stylus that sticks out like a wang when charging, so maybe Tim Cook sticking to Jobs' approved designs is a good thing.

Personally... I think the overall design is fine — my 6 is a nice design. What I care more about is what's inside and iOS.

Separately, I've been seeing rumors about Apple might be looking to use totally wireless and contact-less charging (from Energous)... plus with a wicked fast chip, more memory, better camera, maybe they'll even surprise us with something new? But, for me it's more about what's inside not the outside... let's face it, it's a rectangular device... not a lot they can do but start adding bling or some sort of weird covering that most of us put into a case anyway.

Rummaging through the parts bin and concocting a "new" model is something Harley Davison did/still does knowing that brand (blind?) loyalty will win no matter what they churn out based on past glory days. Apple are enjoying this feature too. The problem comes when folks start asking why they're paying more for less. Samsung are turning the tide (and heads) with their S7. They know that VR Headsets are the gimmick of the year. Not 3D touch. Watch bands. And suchlike. But nobody is safe in the fickle market of smartphones and though Samsung can safely relax til September ... it's after that when it's make or break for the big two.

To pair once! To charge probably once in 2 days currently. Debatable? Yes. Like anything else. It's natural for people to tend to hold on old stuff and hesitant to embrace new ones.

I've been off Macrumors for a while. No headphone jack on the iPhone 7?

How would they expect users to listen to music? Through Bluetooth?

I think the rumor stated 5-6 hours of battery life is likely from apple's new earbuds

Yep, that's the new expectation. Life ruiners, huh? :p

I'm pretty satisfied with the current design, it's a beautiful design and I'd be happy if it remained the same but don't really care that much either way. But if Apple uses the same pitifully huge bezels on the iPhone 7 I'll be the first to walk away in disgust.

Well, yeh. That'll effectively force us to buy bluetooth headphones - an unnecessary and inconvenient cost. And if they start pushing their users to use some overpriced Apple bluetooth earphones then that'll be the final straw for me.

Well you can ready yourself now lol. I bet you $7.50 it's coming. They will likely have an adapter though so you can still technically use your old headphones
