i guess i am just a fan of the old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". i will admit i was a huge fan of the look of pre-iphone 4 look though. it was originally what attracted me to the iphone.

You know, you may feel completely different when you actually get to hold one in hand. In fact, I think you will. So, I would just hold off on doing anything until you get the chance to see it.
Oh me too! It's a nice design! But why couldn't they make it thinner but the same size! I guess they had to change something regarding its size.. I hope it's not too big for me!! In all honesty it looks really long but it might not be!! Who knows! We shall see!
Ugly is definitely not the word that came to mind upon looking at the pictures of the phone. I think it looks pretty darn fantastic actually. First comparison I had in my mind was the MacBook black and white models they used to make. Those things were sexy.
The matte black look of the iPhone 5 is SO HOT. The 4 was a great design when it first came out, and the 5 expands on it with some great details.

I'm a huge fan of the 4/4S design, size, and feel. I truly wish they kept the exact same and simply gave us the hardware updates - LTE, A6, more RAM, etc without the larger screen and such. But whatever. I'm still upgrading

I'm reserving judgement until I see one in person. While I'm not sold on the form factor, the black does look pretty good to me.
The bigger screen and overall different distribution of materials makes it feel a bit different. All of the ratios are different. The bottom is much cleaner now that they have Lightning, which I think is a terrible name for the new connector. I'm not saying it's a revolutionary change, but it's not like they hardly changed anything.
It is a redesign but not enough.
Add a micro sd slot.
Micro usb cable. No more proprietary sh**.
Add full QWERTY keyboard to the bottom.
Maybe make it a flip phone next time. If its flip then no screen protector needed.
Choice of android or apple os would be nice.

Initially I thought it was a bit ugly. But the black one looks pretty good.
That matte-like black textured finish on the back and sides really looks sharp. The angled silver border looks good too. I think probably the only thing I don't like as much are the top and bottom glossy bands on the back. But the black texture kinda smooths them out a bit. The white one, well, not for me.

Any LTE phone will have a minimal of a 4 inch screen and will have a design change to be longer. I am hoping as technology advances the parts get smaller again over time and an all GLASS no bezzel iphone comes back to its original size. I say 2014

it would have been a bigger risk for Apple to change the design. People love the design of the iPhone 4 so Apple have done the right thing in terms of making the design similar but not identical. There would have been an even bigger split in here of people who like/dislike a completely new design.
remember we on this forum represent the minority of Apple product users.

You were hoping for a physical impossibility then. They made it significantly smaller in the only way possible - it's thinner. To make it shorter or narrower would have required SHRINKING the screen, not enlarging it.

If this is what you want, you're looking at the wrong manufacturer. You may as well say you want an iPhone that has 4 wheels, weighs 2 thousand pounds and runs on gasoline, because what you're describing is in no way an iPhone, it's a completely different device that Apple has no interest in making - nor should they. It's a recipe for bankruptcy.
I did and I love it. The s3 is a great phone but the other half in my home want the new iPhone. Choices are what its all about.
If I already owned a Porsche and was looking to buy a new one, I would surely say "Wow, I wish porsche changed their designs a bit".
