Say, aren't you that guy who does the color-coded terrorist threat thermometer?
No. The only color-coded thing I've done on the Internet is make rainbow-colored mockups of the iPod and MacBook Air and for a line diagram of display aspect ratios.

-L2 cache is WAY important. This is why the AMD Turion64 X2's get torn apart by the Core Duo/Core 2 Duos, because the Intel chips have 3MB cache/core whereas the Turions only have 512KB/core.
The Core 2 core itself is better than the K8 core. The IMC on the K8 series at least partially negates the lack of cache.

However, for all intents and purposes, the 1.6 Air, so long as the RAM is equivalent to the Core Duo computer will be just as fast if not faster due to increased bus speeds and increased on-chip cache.
And don't forget the microarchitecture advancement from P-M (Banias) to Merom.

You know what, today im in a good mood. You know why?
Because AAPL is so low that Apple must presents perfect laptops if they dont want it to be even lower, wich will be the case if the new mb and mbp dont have something special and an aggresive price:D

So now , Apple has no choice

BRING ON THE MACS:D

While i agree with you that we need those laptops pronto, Im not really sure what to make of your stock market comments.

Is it just me or does apples stock always dip a bit even when they release new products?

you are right it does, because almost all the time the product is not what we expected (remember the macbook air, we were expecting something like 10 times more powerful).
Now, if they dont want AAPL to go down even more, they will haveto present something good(like maybe bluray, glass trackpad, etc) something cool that will make the analysist shut up.
The AAPL will valur more :)

 who was expecting the air to be more powerful than a MBP?

Seeing as someone always asks "What's so fake about it?" Just for those who missed it, the few things that strike me as fake on the mockup on the previous page are:

• There looks to be some sort of cavern around the keyboard = ugly
• The black trackpad with a silver button looks off
• Image is skewed
• Slogan is bad
• On the ad poster, the laptop comes out of the background. I don't think I've ever seen Apple do this and it looks tacky

Obviously you don't invest in AAPL, what happened yesterday was not good in ANY way. :(

Very true points. And thanks for the chip name of the Pentium M, I couldn't remember and was too lazy to go look it up

This is EXACTLY what Im saying. It wasnt good. It's still not good. How do you make it good? By presenting a new macbook family that ROCKS. Then it becomes good!

wow.. this really went off topic.. lol..

soo anyone else hoping for an 12-13" aluminum macbook w/ bluray or glass trackpad.. ?

opening day.. I willll own 1.. no matter what it is.. unless its pink.. which really wouldnt suprise me at this point.. cmon steve get your ass in that shoe store and kick his ass.. and make some decent cheap portables !!!

I am liking the spec's for the MBP (if true). With a capability to get up to 8GB of RAM will suit me perfectly. Of course will not be buying that from Apple as I am sure they will be in the ,000's here in Aus for that much.

But I am getting excited if they are truly the specs that are to come.

I don't know if I'd bet the farm on 8GB...

(I hope it happens though..)

I hope the screens stay at 15" and 17" AT 16:10. I like being able to fit a menu bar and a dock (albeit hidden most of the time) and still have 16:9 in the middle of the screen.
