So those desktop images prove that Apple is canceling the failed Leopard project in June.

Good.

It's about time they admitted it was a complete bust.

Dont think its real...

I dont think we have the real thing here, maybe a distraction from the source to hide something bigger?

Cheers...

Another reason it's a fake

The Australian ad for the iPhone is crap. Apple is much more clever than that and being an Advertising major myself, I don't know why the ad copy wouldn't say "Australia, say g'day to the iPhone". I don't recall but I think the French ad used "bonjour", etc. I'm not buying this "leak"

Again, Apple discontinued the XServe RAID -- it is pictured.

And they can't bring it back?

I highly doubt the MBP is due an update at WWDC, especially a case redesign.

Why not? The case itself has been around for about 4-5 years now, with little to no significant changes. And if you really want to get picky, the design started with the original TiBook.

Even tho it's just a mock-up, I really like the "new" MacBook design. However, I'm not crazy about the MacBook Pro mock-up design.

Why a black border?

At first I thought the photos could be legit. But, now that I think about it, I really doubt that Apple would make the laptop 1/2" larger in width and depth just to add a black border. I think Apple is too conscious of size/weight issues of laptops to go that route.

FAKE!! The photo shown for the MacBook is MY OWN mockup that I made while anticipating the Penryn MBP. Look, I am attaching it here: and look at my post from back in February too its halfway down the page.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/420044/

I created that photo in Photoshop in January, so this must be fake.

yno what.. i can't quite figure out the slot for the optical drive up front on this one..
an if these really came out... apply for the job man..lol..!
:)

Not to mention the MacBook looks like it's now 15.4"... This has to be fake unless Apple is trying to differentiate between the MBA and the MB.

I've been thinking. If the MBP has been around for sooooooo long [which it has], then something MEGA-ly different will happen, something like a twisty screen or something, and touchscreen? I doubt that something like these images will happen, its just a newer modern day look, nothing really special.

Why on a new laptop ads would they use the Tiger desktop?

All the current ads for all of apple computers use the leopard desktop wallpaper with the purple hue, not the blue one.

So I highly doubt these images, however I do believe they are a good prediction

That sounds like an aesthetic reaction. What about the practicality? Have you actually used a MacBook Pro in poor light? One of the nastiest experiences ever imo.

The letters which are blacked out in good light become invisible in poor light and only visible again when they light up.

But if the light improves suddenly...BAM! off goes the light and the thing resets! If you want silver/grey keys, you need very black letters. It's not a viable option imo. And I fancy that's the conclusion what Apple's designers have come to.

Consistent contrast is essential. If the letters are going to light up, they need to be light in colour in the first place. This means that black keys are essential to achieve this.

I've used the new MacBook Air and it's the best keyboard since the PowerBook G4 Ti. Very nice.

Not a big fan of black keys on aluminum. Maybe it will grow on me but right now I prefer the solid color MacBooks.

i didn't have time to read all 260+ posts, but what are we expecting from iTunes 8?? we've already got music, games, movies, rentals, podcasts, radio, etc. what's next? VR? could this tie into the patent application for the head-mount display? interesting....

I'm excited but I'm not really sure what exactly to expect. However I would say that the changes will mainly be with how iTunes centers around video. I think there might have been a rumor to that effect as well, but it makes sense.

I don't know if it's already been said but in Leopard all the pictures that appear to represent the Macs in the network also have the Tiger wallpaper.

Possibly a cocoa re-write, but I'm hoping for speed, especially start up speed. Its so slow with larger libraries (awful that they have a 160GB iPod, when with the highest selling Macs iTunes slows down seriously at about 60GB.)

'Aluminium' is spelled correctly.

Yes, I didn't notice that. I too am a British English speller... so unless you're from America you won't pick that up. Unless this is someone working @ apple's UK centre/studio?

P.S. I just find that the pronunciation of "aluminum" irritates the heck out of me lol, e.g. on Mythbusters. There's an article on wikipedia about "aluminium" and "aluminum".
