Hey Arn, you didn't by chance pick up a phone number from the iTunes account. Give them a call and find out where they will be working at now that they just got fired.

See if we can get some insider info. :D

I complain because I can. ;)

From Macrumors FAQ:

Why are some stories on Page 2?
The MacRumors front page is used for confirmed news stories, credible rumors, and other stories of wide interest to the Mac community.

Page 2 is used for less credible rumors, news stories of lesser importance or interest, and stories with fewer supporting details.

The distinction allows visitors to limit their viewing to only the most important news and rumors, if they so choose.

Thanks for the research. But if Page 2 is for "less credible rumors" why is this on front page? Are this images credible?

If the .Mac account was something generic like 'itunesgifts' judging from that URL, would that really be a personal account? itunesgifts@apple.com? And .Mac on a @apple.com account? I guess it could be a different account name for the apple.com one.

Before the fact that the images were mockups was discovered it certainly seemed credible, no? I mean, like I said before, there's only one way to get an @apple.com address.

The MBP still has the button on it that releases the screen when it's opened. There is no way that Apple will not go to a magnetic lid on the new computers.

Apple still sells Macs with combo-drives. Nothing is guaranteed. I agree that Apple probably will go with the magnetic latch for the new MacBook Pro, but I wouldn't say there is "no way" that they wouldn't choose to include it.

Odd that the page was pulled so fast after arn's post.

I captured a screenshot of the page before it was pulled

P.S. I just find that the pronunciation of "aluminum" irritates the heck out of me lol, e.g. on Mythbusters. There's an article on wikipedia about "aluminium" and "aluminum".

That how I feel when I hear people pronounce it "Al-you-min-ee-um". :)

Just to clarify, the e-mail address for the iTunes account was not itunesgifts@apple.com.

Yes, there is a lot that is sketchy about this, but there are also a lot of intriguing pieces of it. Keep in mind that if this is legit, it's apparently a very informal site used for throwing ideas around. So I'm not particularly surprised at the sloppiness of the images and use of iWeb on a .Mac account for putting the site together. We're not saying that these are images ready to be posted to apple.com upon release of a new product.

apple doesnt 'shoot' actual photos of their acutal products. They are all done by design on computer.

Actually, they used to be photos up until the G4 Powerbooks that ran 1.33 GHz chips. There was a short video done on the guy that shot them and how he did it and got the reflection.

I don't know if that's the case now, because I am sure it would be cheaper to just create them anyway you want in Maya. A program the lazy mockup artists need to learn how to use.

I don't think using Glass on a laptop screen border might be a good idea.

Everyone here agrees I am sure, the only reason it's on the computer is because some noob thought it'd be cool to have an iMac bezel as a laptop screen taking up all that space...

That thing looks like the Foleo's bezel with a disease. The black trip is SO needed . And if you take a good "lift" of the iMac the glass plate over top of it is quite heavy.

10 lbs MBP anyone?

Can the mockup artists get some new ideas please? And Photoshop isn't the only application in the WORLD... expand your horizons.

I'm reflecting on this post. And reflecting is one of those things that lead you to realizations...

First off... the original "Pure Power. Pure Beauty." image... Anyone notice the reflection is all off?

How so?

The KEYBOARD is reflected on the desk. So unless those rumors of a mac made entirely of glass are true... this is a fake.

Other things:

- Size of the banners is off... Apple.Com features 4 banners that are all 236x155 pixels. One of these is 262x165 and the other is 257x166.. the wrong size.
- The text in one is typed over other text. The original text doesn't appear to be in Myriad Pro, apple's current signature typeface.
- No product name on the "Pure Power" banner.
- Tiger background
- No Finder
- No Dock
- No Macintosh HD icon

I've also included a banner that I made that's the right size, the right font, but an obvious fake. It's merely the top part of an iMac with the screen stretched out, with the bottom part of a MBP.

(PS... since Apple dropped the power branding (powerbook, powermac, etc) have they used the word power in any advertising?)

I made an account just to post this, Aristan has already done it. I'm going to post anyways, because I am very dissapointed in MacRumors for trying to pass off an obvious fake for news!

motivation

why would someone take the time to photoshop ads like this? Just to cause a stir on the site? The mockups i can kinda understand doing for "fun", but what about the itunes 8 one?

Just take a look at the world....

Why would anyone take the time to write viruses? Or spend $300,000 on a toilet seat? Or spend 1.2 million on a month old sandwich that looks like the virgin mary?

Or make a $1,000,000 computer? (that fu**ing runs Windows)

Because people are stupid.... no matter what nationality/race/religion/sexual orientation/etc.

Everyone is an idiot at some point.

Interesting for sure. Not much stock from me but definitely all seems like a direction that Apple may go.

My prediction: Mac Pro complete with hamster wheel installed for alternative power. The hamster only costs 399 USD or 499 Euro since it is difficult to get Apple trained hamsters out of the US.

Here are a couple of thoughts on this subject:
1. The posting of the logins and passwords seems to indicate that this page was not intended to be discovered by the public.
2. The @apple.com email would seem to indicate that this work was done by someone from apple.
3. The images are obviously fake.

I speculate that this is the work of someone at Apple who is tasked with creating disinformation. I would not be surprised if Apple leaked fakes to the rumor sites from time to time. Perhaps if this site had not been stumbled upon , these images would have been leaked through more normal rumor channels sometime soon.

Well... you could always go with a non-apple branded hamster, but aftermarket parts are never the same.

and you would void the warranty.
