Um, no, "Aluminium" is indeed a correct spelling of the element in question. It's not a made up alloy or anything else. Did you perhaps incorrectly think that "Aluminum" is the only accepted spelling of the element? If so, consider yourself having learned something today. :D

Hi,

And "Rumours" vs "Rumors"

s.

Is that anything like Liutenant being prounounced "Leftanant"?

You English need to learn to speak American... ;)

#1 - I'm Canadian

#2 - You Americans need to learn how to spell
(it's "Lieutenant" in case you didn't figure it out...)

:p ;)

Seriously though, back to the topic at hand, although I think these images themselves are fake, I could easily see Apple updating the portable line at WWDC. I just don't think what we're seeing here is what the end result will be. ;)

Looks like the sh*tty mockups that are floating around here. But I remember the rant I made about the messed up Alu keyboard that was rumored, and turned out to be true.

I guess Ive is looking on this forum for his design ideas. Next thing you know we will have a cheese wedge iMac and and a MBP with a rounded screen bezel and a square bottom case, since mockup artists can't keep things consistent.

This is fake, its a @apple.com account because its probably a Apple employee messing around, I doubt that is real, especially as its talking about new stuff for 2008 but it has the Tiger background.

I think the idea of an Alu MB makes sense. Apple got rid of the white iMac in favor of a Alu case, so why would they stop there? I think it'll look something like the MBA/MBP; same thickness as now, but all alu. I'd prefer the white keys like their new keyboards instead of black...

fake, fake, fake...

and the desktop doesn't even have any icons on it...

probably a high school marketing project...

I guess they don't call this site MacRUMORS for nothing.

Didn't you already post that?

I'm honestly not sure. Its possible that this is from an earlier stage in development. However, the "Pure Beauty, Pure Power" being photohopped over other text with the black matte not reaching the edges and not a magnetic latch, and the advertisement for software, and the not redesigned iPhone... ok maybe I am sure.

Does anyone else think that the words behind the top words in the MBP pic say the exact same thing? But just in a different font or something.

at a glance....
Apple never advertise the release dates of software (i.e. iTunes 8).
Macbook Pro keyboard looks ugly.
Macbook Pro is photoshopped.
Its running Tiger, not Leopard...
"Pure Beauty, Pure Power" is photoshopped over another caption.
'Aluminium' is spelled correctly.

Long story short... its faker than Britney Spears' breast implants.

"'Aluminium' is spelled correctly." Since your other observations were to the opposite of what is right, did you meant "aluminium' is spelled incorrectly?

If so...

Found this when I googled "define: aluminium". Came back with this, Aluminium: An alternate spelling of Aluminum.

In which case your point is valid and that, "'Aluminium' is spelled correctly.":D

Why these are fake.

1) The background image on either laptop is from Tiger, not Leopard.
2) I've already seen the MacBook Pro mockup with the black bezel and it is this.
3) The image about the iTunes 8 teaser... come on. Why on earth would Apple recycle the same image from 2007 an use it for some cheap publicity for iTunes?
4) In the other image, the top bar of the Apple website is too short.
5) The banner of the Macbook Pro picture has letter behind (I see a "p" or something like that)

And even if this was not enough, I think the pictures in the Apple website look always way more cooler than this.

So, no, I don't think this is remotely true. But I do think the next MacBook will be aluminum. Just because the iMac and the iPod are, both consumer products. (Like the Macbook)

On the one hand it does make sense - as you say, Apple took this design path with the iMac. On the other hand, the MacBook is a portable, and plastic does tend to be a little more durable. On the third hand, the MacBook Pros are portable and non-plastic, so perhaps that isn't an issue after all and we will indeed see Alu across the line. ;)

It's because the looser designer just pasted an iMac screen on a MacBook Pro bottom case.

And I am noticing all the young, "Cool, a MacBook Pro, iMac Frankenstein monster computer! That's what I always wanted! I don't need performance gains, just a cool looking machine with even more USB ports and Touch features that work for FaceBook!" are around supporting these God awful designs.

Has Apple touted "Multi-Touch" in mac ads (not iPhone/iPod ads) before? That doesn't sound right to me.

I hope it's real because I want to see the MacMini form factor survive intact (with improved innards), but it just doesn't look real to me.

The fans are clamoring for an aluminum MacBook, so perhaps this is fan-created. I prefer the plastic ones myself, so if it's real I'm glad I recently bought one.

itunes 8 .........

iphone apps store !!!!

movies & renting international ???? (come on uk )

you tube intergration ?????(down load your fav clips)

BEATLES built in lol:D:D:D

I hear you, unfortunately like it or not they appear to represent a good chunk of the market these days...

Definite fake's but truth be told the real one's which will surely come out this summer will probably look almost identical....

Steve doesn't care... he just wants it to look pretty

I think they should use aluminum. But not the way they did in this image. I want the cool redesign Apple Insider was describing... with some elements of stainless steel :p
