For people coming for a normal size iPhone the X must be wonderfull but when you're coming from a Plus well...
I have a 8 + and was thinking about getting a X but not sure anymore....
Finally why spend more money to get a smaller screen , face id instead of touch id ( it's only a different way to unlock the phone in no way it is better or faster) , and no home button.
Oled screen? well from what I read here and there it's far to be "perfect".

You're not crazy.

Face ID is a big difference. I don't think you realize it until you've used it... People that are having issue with it must've been idiots setting it up. Mine has been accurate 100% of the time without a fail.

Hello everyone! Long time lurker, new member here!

I just want to add that you’re not crazy about how you feel. My return of my X was completed today. Looks like I will be rocking my 7+ for a while.

Reasons for return:

• I did not care for how the information is presented at the top of the screen (status icons). Almost looked preschool-ish.

• Thought the narrowness wouldn’t bother me, but after a few hours with each phone next to each other, it did.

• The brightness of my 7+ exceeded the X. Furthermore, I did not care for the yellow screen on the X (yes I did turn off the Trutone feature or whatever it’s called).

• Did not at all like the swipe down from top-right to access control center. I have to use two hands to do that. With my 7+, I can access the control center with one hand.

• Do not like the cropping that takes place when watching videos.

• Most of the apps that I use are not optimized yet for the X. I do not have the patience to wait for the developers to fix this issue at the moment.

• Face-id seemed to be much slower than I anticipated. However, it did work almost every time.

• I wasn’t, at all, impressed with the OLED display aside from the black levels.

I will say that I absolutely loved the silver color and stainless steel. Oh well, saved some money and hopefully next year I will get excited for more than 30 minutes with my new Apple device.

I could agree with all of that. I will say I do love how simple Face ID is. But since it works so good I question how accurate it is vs Touch ID.

Why oh why didn’t Apple make an X and X Plus with the same screen size of the 8 and 8 Plus? Just take the 8 and remove the top and bottom bezels leaving the screen size and ratio intact.

I love the new Face ID, gestures, lack of home button and tiny bezels but that’s about it. Having had a 6S Plus for 2 years, buying the 8 Plus then returning it for the 8 as the extra weight was literally a pain for me (fibromyalgia), I then tried the X. Now I have decided to stick with the 8 for a year and hope Apple come up with something better next year. Maybe even dual SIM…I can hope can’t I!

Let me ask you, how does the battery life compare from the 8 Plus to the 6S Plus? I'm on the fence with returning my X for a 8+ cause my 6S is 2 years old now

I regularly get 10-12 hours usage according to battery stats.

I must stress guys. Do your research before buying!! I’m trying to remain as civil as possible but this is tearing me up inside. Have you any idea the volume of people who are going to be waiting a long time for their newly ordered iPhone X and are probably gonna appreciate every second of it? Mine’s estimated for up to four weeks and the only information I have on it is “in progress”.

Do your research. Read and watch reviews, check out these forums and most importantly of all if you’re unsure WAIT!! The device has been out three days, less than two business days. Most people have only just put in their orders for this device and you already know your unhappy with it.

You’re not crazy for wanting to return it. You ARE however, inconsiderate to have rush ordered or dashed to a store queuing for hours to get your hands on one early only to return it days later. Both to yourself and to others.

Just like a marriage. Don’t rush into choosing your new device. I’m sorry it wasn’t for you.

I woke up, was helping someone else order and accidentally placed one on reserve since the AT&T system was down. I got emailed a link to continue the checkout the following day. I was undecided then, but I figured if I didn't like it I could just sell it for what I paid at no loss to me. So no, I'm not inconsiderate because I will sell it AT COST to someone else (possibly family), get my upgrade back and get a different phone or just keep my 6S+.

Sorry that you have to wait, first come first serve lol

With all due respect, it has nothing to do with “research.” I can read about a new car and watch countless “test-drive” videos from 3rd party reviewers on Youtube. Until I get into the driver’s seat and drive it, I do not know exactly if I will like the vehicle or not.

Same thing applies to a phone. It needs to be in my hand for me to determine if I want to keep it.

Exactly, not like we could even see the phone before purchasing it. With previous phones we already knew what it was similar to. 3G>3GS, 4>4S, 5>5s, 6,7,8 all the same. This is completely new and different.

Research and experience are two different things. Besides, my local apple store had it in stock on opening day at 3pm still. I guess not too many people are rushing out to purchase it.

Imo the X is the most overrated phone (especially considering the price of it) that Apple made so far. OP is not crazy for returning his X for the 8 Plus, on the contrary, because the Plus offers more value for money, again in my opinion.

If in the future Apple will only offer phones with narrow tall screens, without a fingerprint scanner and forcing customers to use Face ID, including the notch and rounded display corners, I will definitely look for another phone brand. Also the small things like having to open control center by swiping from the top right is a really bad move from Apple.

I prefer iOS and have the 8 now, but have no problems with switching back to Android if I have to. I understand people wanted a whole new design but they come up with a phone without a fingerprint scanner, and feel they have to be like Samsung with their 18:9 narrow screens and include that notch which I can't even find words for how ugly I think it looks.

Don’t give me that rubbish. All the information is out there. Display, exact size and shape. Realistic screen size. It’s all out there. I don’t like the defensive attitudes either as if I just insulted you or something. The topic is “am I crazy”. It’s asking for honest opinions. So you wouldn’t find it insulting to be called crazy but take issue with being called inconsiderate.

Apple stores exist. Go get a hands on. I’m sorry but quite honestly no excuse can be made. My opinion, as the topic asks for.

Honestly none of those things bothered me about the X lol. I expected all of it and Face ID worked surprisingly well for me with 100% success rate.

For a phone with a more efficient cpu and a lower power display with a battery that is the same size as my 6S+ I expected similar battery use. Unless I have a hardware issue, the battery life is horrible compared to my 6S+ and that's a big deal breaker for me.

Sounds like you're just pissed off that you couldn't get an X and you're mad at anyone who has one lol

Nah, of course these were things that I personally don't like about the X.

14 day return policy exist for a reason too, maybe you should look into that.

Not sure if it helps or not but the 8+ is an amazing device, and if you like the form factor may be the best iPhone ever. Battery is amazing. Screen is awesome. On 11.1 it’s crazy zippy.

What kind of battery times are you getting?

Will be same or better IMO. I had a new (replaced) 6S+ & I think in general the 8+ battery is better.

This is one of the dumbest posts I’ve read since launch.

“You can’t be dissatisfied with this thing because I don’t even have one yet. You should have known based on other people’s opinions and needs whether it would fit yours. How inconsiderate are you for getting one before I did.”

....the kicker was drawing parallels between marriage (that has a 30 day return policy) and buying a goddamn phone holy lol....
