I must stress guys. Do your research before buying!! I’m trying to remain as civil as possible but this is tearing me up inside. Have you any idea the volume of people who are going to be waiting a long time for their newly ordered iPhone X and are probably gonna appreciate every second of it? Mine’s estimated for up to four weeks and the only information I have on it is “in progress”.
Do your research. Read and watch reviews, check out these forums and most importantly of all if you’re unsure WAIT!! The device has been out three days, less than two business days. Most people have only just put in their orders for this device and you already know your unhappy with it.
You’re not crazy for wanting to return it. You ARE however, inconsiderate to have rush ordered or dashed to a store queuing for hours to get your hands on one early only to return it days later. Both to yourself and to others.
Just like a marriage. Don’t rush into choosing your new device. I’m sorry it wasn’t for you.
Why?
Get 8 Plus. X will be better when it's the standard iPhone next year and kinks are worked out.
I think your comment is tied for the award.Congrats. You win the award for the dumbest thing I’ve read on the internet so far this week. I know it’s early, but I doubt anything else will top it.
People are “inconsiderate” for spending THEIR money on a device that everyone had equal access to? Sounds like you’re just mad that you preordered too late. Next time be on the ball and order right away, okay champ?
None of which is a problem with the phone per se, just you as a picky user wanting to save money, yet you rock a 7+ so counter your argument right there.Hello everyone! Long time lurker, new member here!
I just want to add that you’re not crazy about how you feel. My return of my X was completed today. Looks like I will be rocking my 7+ for a while.
Reasons for return:
• I did not care for how the information is presented at the top of the screen (status icons). Almost looked preschool-ish.
• Thought the narrowness wouldn’t bother me, but after a few hours with each phone next to each other, it did.
• The brightness of my 7+ exceeded the X. Furthermore, I did not care for the yellow screen on the X (yes I did turn off the Trutone feature or whatever it’s called).
• Did not at all like the swipe down from top-right to access control center. I have to use two hands to do that. With my 7+, I can access the control center with one hand.
• Do not like the cropping that takes place when watching videos.
• Most of the apps that I use are not optimized yet for the X. I do not have the patience to wait for the developers to fix this issue at the moment.
• Face-id seemed to be much slower than I anticipated. However, it did work almost every time.
• I wasn’t, at all, impressed with the OLED display aside from the black levels.
I will say that I absolutely loved the silver color and stainless steel. Oh well, saved some money and hopefully next year I will get excited for more than 30 minutes with my new Apple device.
A perfect example of what? An honest comparison wouldn’t have one screen zoomed in.Thank you for this perfect example.
From last night:
battery on 8 + is ridiculous good.
I’m at 46%
Usage - 7 hours 26 minutes
Standby - 16 hours 19 minutes
I think your comment is tied for the award.
Why oh why didn’t Apple make an X and X Plus with the same screen size of the 8 and 8 Plus? Just take the 8 and remove the top and bottom bezels leaving the screen size and ratio intact.
I love the new Face ID, gestures, lack of home button and tiny bezels but that’s about it. Having had a 6S Plus for 2 years, buying the 8 Plus then returning it for the 8 as the extra weight was literally a pain for me (fibromyalgia), I then tried the X. Now I have decided to stick with the 8 for a year and hope Apple come up with something better next year. Maybe even dual SIM…I can hope can’t I!
They did take an 8 and just remove the top and bottom bezels. Since removing the bezels does not make the phone wider, the screen just becomes taller. I think many here assume that a hypothetical "X Plus" would be wider like the 8+ was, but this is not the case on the S8/S8+. Phones with the X aspect ratio just get taller as they get bigger, without getting substantially wider.
Not noticeably, which is what I am referring to. According to Mashable, they both have 375 units of width, andNot accurate.
The X is slightly wider than the 4.7” model. It’s not just a taller display. It’s not a huge difference but it is wider.

"Second, when used in portrait orientation, the width of the display on iPhone X matches the width of the 4.7in display of the iPhone 8. So it’s taller, but not wider. In other words, the iPhone X has a different aspect ratio to the iPhone 8. The iPhone X aspect ratio is something like 19:9 where the iPhone 8 is 16:9. It's a longer screen, but that's all. "
Yes, it is. When people are seeing the same amount of interface, it appears to be the same width. In measurement, it's about 3 MM wider, but does not APPEAR that way. Does that make you happy? 🙂The “375 units” is an interface metric, not a literal physical measurement. Common mistake.
On iOS peeps use WhatsApp. Viber is legitimately terrible on iOS. I cant speak to the Android version of it. The apps most people use yes the iOS versions tend to be vastly superior.Nope. We all got different needs.
Dasher and tethering sucks on iOS. Can't make an iPhone X my daily driver even if I ended up loving the X hardware.
The saying that Android apps have always been inferior to iOS has always been a myth. Dasher, SwiftKey, and Viber are all superior on Android.
Whatever floats your boat. My life jacket says Dasher with an Android logo next to it.
I actually thought the display on the X is overall darker.you do you. I'm considering giving back my X and going back to 7 Plus. Maybe 8 Plus if i can get a good deal on Swappa, and save me $400 over the X. It's definitely a nice phone and feels great. But real world Face ID use is not as fast as Touch ID for myself. The screen is also way too bright for me at night. Anyone else notice that?
