Am I crazy for wanting to return my iPhone X for a Plus?

Went from a 6S Plus to the X and I feel like it's a step down.

I love Face ID, but everything else seems like a downgrade.

The screen looks great, but it does turn blue. It's 5.8 inches, yet feels a lot smaller.

Battery should be only slightly less than a Plus, yet it feels more like a 6,7,8. I would never worry if my phone was going to make it through the day with my Plus. Now it feels like I am afraid to use my phone cause I can watch the battery draining while I'm texting for 5 minutes. I'm currently on 60% with only 3 hours 30 minutes use

Edit:

Talked to Apple support and was told this:

Not at all, I considered the same. The X is a downgrade from the plus in many ways, in particular the screen width but you also lose other things like landscape features and of course touch ID, text is also universally smaller which sucks for my old, failing eyes. When I first got my X I kind of hated it, and planned on getting a 8 plus and returning the X. But the X has really been growing on me, and I don't know that I could return it now that I've used it for a few days. It's a sacrifice, but I think I'm going to keep the X and really really hope there is a X plus next year. You think there is a high demand for iphones this year, you ain't seen nothing as if and when they release a X plus the demand will be completely insane.

I must stress guys. Do your research before buying!! I’m trying to remain as civil as possible but this is tearing me up inside. Have you any idea the volume of people who are going to be waiting a long time for their newly ordered iPhone X and are probably gonna appreciate every second of it? Mine’s estimated for up to four weeks and the only information I have on it is “in progress”.

Do your research. Read and watch reviews, check out these forums and most importantly of all if you’re unsure WAIT!! The device has been out three days, less than two business days. Most people have only just put in their orders for this device and you already know your unhappy with it.

You’re not crazy for wanting to return it. You ARE however, inconsiderate to have rush ordered or dashed to a store queuing for hours to get your hands on one early only to return it days later. Both to yourself and to others.

Just like a marriage. Don’t rush into choosing your new device. I’m sorry it wasn’t for you.

You are being ridiculous. They have every right to purchase as soon as possible, try it out and return it if they don't like it. Reviews cannot replace a physical device in one's hand. Stop complaining because he didn't get ahead of them. This isn't little league and everyone does not get a participation trophy.

I had a regular sized 6 and decided to upgrade to an 8+ rather than an X. No regrets. The 8+ is the most underrated iPhone ever just because it came out in the shadow of the sleeker, fancier, X. It has the same internals and basically does all the same things as the X, minus FaceID and animojis. Given that TouchID has always worked fast and flawlessly for me, and I have no interest in animojis, and I have no problem at all with the size or bezels of the Plus, getting an X would be paying an extra $260 CDN plus tax for features that I don't care about.

this is giving me stress! haha. i have an x on order but love the plus sizes. i need to get rid of this 6 plus already that i've had for 3 years....... but which phone to get?!

you do know you can use the Zoom to low brightness to make it even less bright don't you

oh true. I used to use that maybe 1-2 years ago, but the software would glitch so much after triple clicking Home button, but perhaps that's fixed now. Ill try that again with ios11

I'm coming from the 6S to the X and i'm iffy. I love the screen and all the space but Face ID and no TouchID is ruining it for me. I'm hoping I just get used to it after a few days. We'll see.

I'm in the same boat as many, I have a 7 plus and got the X. The X is underwhelming considering the compromises one has to make leaving the plus. The big positive for the X is the improved handling and camera. However, I miss my home button and screen width of the 7 plus. Too much swiping to switch between apps, close apps, etc. So I'm stuck where I don't want to get rid of either for various reasons. I am forcing myself the use just the X for at least a week to get used to it and see if I still have negative feelings. If so, I'll just keep the 7 plus and sell or return the X.

I had the 6+, 6S+, and 7+ before getting the X and the screen size is something I am getting used to. I do miss the width of the + screens when typing in portrait, but I like that the phone fits into my pocket much easier. If screen size is the most important thing to you, then you probably will be happier with an 8+ than an X.

I have 8+. Slightly considering X.
These posts possibly saving me $$.
I LOVE the 8+.
X is cool but I’ve loved this form factor since 6+.
8+ camera is crazy good. My 8+ did better than X in an Apple Store with some quick test shots.

wait for the X+

Ypu're not crazy at all. I dont have the X but played with one for about 20 minutes in store yesterday and I wil stick with my Plus. While the Plus size can be cumbersome at times I love the keyboard width and I found the X too narrow and struggled to type on it (one of the reasons I gave up my Galaxy S8 as well). I'm also not ready to give up TouchID which has worked flawlessly for years and very convenient to have.

Coming from a person who opened the box last Friday and within 5 minutes had told myself I'm returning this and keeping my 7 plus, I'll speak to a few comments that some folks in this post have pointed out.

Maybe its just my experience, but Face ID has been virtually flawless and I have literally forgotten I even have a lock on my phone its worked so well. And the home button? After the first day, having a home button seems totally unnecessary. The fluid motions seem so natural that they almost are mindless once you get used to them.

I get the physical size of the phone being an issue for some or maybe the wonkiness of how the screen reacts with certain videos/apps or that it's too narrow, but to say that Face ID and the lack of a home button are deal killers tells me that either you've not actually interacted with the X or didn't really give it a chance.

Again. Those are my opinions/experiences.

Does it feel smaller to handle? No doubt. Will I get the plus version once available? As of today, I'd say absolutely. But for a person to carries the phone in their pocket, its a nice departure from the plus. Honestly I could see a person coming from a standard size (6, 7 or 8) thinking this is the perfect set up. But for plus users, it can be an adjustment. You've got two weeks, use it, play with it, and try and be objective.

I love all of these responses about how you should’ve done your research before you bought it. How you should’ve known what you were getting into. What a load of crap. Sure you can read reviews and forums and get other people’s input however, you don’t get a good feel for the device until it’s in your hand and you’re using it. After all you don’t buy a car without test driving it do you? You need to do what works best for you, and not be concerned with the internet says you should do. If I do upgrade my 7+ this year it will be for an 8+, I’m just not wowed enough about the X. Maybe next years X+ or whatever it’s called.

Same boat, but I don’t miss the home button...at all. Feel navigation on the X is much more fluid. However, that big ole display on the 7 plus is great and soooo much cheaper 🙂

I’m trying to stay away from my 7 Plus for a week or so as well. I did use it a bit last night and felt it was a little unwieldily. The X is a really great size holding wise but the screen is just a bit small. It’s going to be a tough decision.
