Amazon Hits Apple with New 'Three Kindles for the Price of an iPad' Commercial

As a car nut, you picked a bad example. I'll easily take the 3 Kias for the price of the car that is known to have lots of reliability issues. My mom had a Land Rover, piece of crap. New and constantly had to be at the dealer for service.

Try picking an actual good car for the money, not an overpriced POS. Like a Mercedes or even a Toyota LandCruiser.

As a car nut, who gives a crap? You get the point he was making. So ********** nitpicky, like a child

Here's an idea for a tv commercial for Apple...

A dude ( 1st Camper ) is trying to start a fire while camping out in the woods with his friend. Having trouble keeping a flame going, he digs into his backpack, pulls out a Kindle Fire and puts it underneath his pile of wood.

2nd Camper, "Hey, what are you doing!?"

1st Camper, "I'm having trouble keeping our fire going, so I thought I'd put some kindling on it."

2nd Camper, "But that's your Kindle Fire!"

1st Camper, "Yup. I knew I'd find some use for it eventually. Now it actually lives up to its name!"

2nd Camper, "Yes, dude, but it's your Kindle!!"

1st Camper, "Yes, I know... ( pulling an iPad 2 out of his backpack ) ...Now I can stay warm while surfing the web on my iPad2!"

2nd Camper, throwing his Kindle on the fire as well, "Here's to a nice warm Fire!"

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Umm, only for "campers" who camp where there is a good wifi or cell connection. Pro-tip: don't count on it. Oh, and charging is an issue in the wilderness, too.

Great to see this sequel

... I'm not talking about the Kindles, couldn't care less.... I just think the mom is hot! I'm sticking with my iPad! :)

Boo

No, the fact that Range Rovers are bad trucks with poor reliability makes the Kia Rio a better car.

You could have picked a better comparison, like a Honda Ridgeline or Toyota Sequoia.

The fact that kindles are bad tablets with balkanization of the android OS with poor selection of apps makes the iPad a better tablet.

It's all perspective my friend.

Yeah, and I could buy like 3 Kia Rios for the price of a single Range Rover. That totally makes the Kia Rio a superior car, right you guys?

If you can't afford a Range Rover, or don't need all of its features, or the Kia Rio will meet all your needs at the lower price point . . .

. . . then yes. The Rio would be superior for your needs.

That's actually a good comparison. You don't see Kia's being across Asia and Europe without touching pavement, do you?

Mmmmm... trophy wives by the pooool. So insightful, bikini models.

1. Lets see, haul around three kindles, a phone, a GPS, and a note/sketchpad, or one iPad for less $?

2. If I'm outside, the last thing I want is to be glued to a computer screen.

3. When I have to, the practical, useful things the iPad does, Kindle doesn't do.

Kindle is aptly named.

Man, people love to make digs at Apple. So, I have to carry around three separate devices just in case I want to do something the iPad does? Oh, shewt, I could show you my portfolio, but I left my other tablet at home! Whatever helps them sell stuff I guess. Works for some, not for others. I know what my choice was.

If you have haters, you must be doin something right.

Must be a Kia owner, lol.

i have three ford vehicles! By the way, you must be another Kia owner, lol.

I used to consider Ford cars as piece of crap, and GM cars better.
And Ford trucks are excellent.
Now Ford cars have greatly improved, GM is now crap.

Even KIA has improved. Hyundai also. Now the Sonata is becoming a strong competitor to the Accord and similar cars. (http://www.insideline.com/hyundai/s...comparison-test.html#article_pagination_top_4)

the basic ad-supported Kindle priced at $79,

Right... Didn't need to read further than that to make myself an opinion. Do I really want to buy products from a company making "ad-supported" stuff?

As many others have said... 3 crappy products != 1 good product.

And the commercial and it's point is pretty bad. It's like saying that three flat head screwdrivers are better than one Gerber Multitool, even thought the Gerber is more expensive. Really lame.

If you have haters, you must be doin something right.

If you can't beat the competition, belittle the company and insult the users.

Fair enough! The Kindle’s not useless, it’s just not an iPad nor an iPad competitor (severe lack of top-quality apps, nowhere near the same power, much worse as a browser, awkward screen shape for most purposes, poorly-built). And while the iPad is better for reading in poor light (and therefore better for almost all my reading), an e-ink Kindle (not Fire) is indeed better for those who read outdoors! If I got an e-Ink Kindle as a gift, I’d think it was cool and keep it, even if I rarely used it. It’s a tool with a use.

It would be like saying “three iPads for the price of a MacBook Pro!” True, maybe even useful for people who hadn’t thought about getting something for multiple people. IF an iPad meets the needs of all those people.

It seems like rivals Apple and Amazon unintentionally have each other’s back: Amazon’s business model doesn’t hurt Apple much at all (ebook sales are a trivial slice of Apple’s income, and Fire sales make people want to upgrade to an iPad later) but it DOES hurt Apple’s other competitors, making a painfully low price point for even poor-to-mediocre tablets to try to squeeze into. And at the same time, Apple’s business model sells iPads that can view Kindle books—and whenever an iPad owner buys a Kindle book, that’s profit to Amazon’s core business, without Amazon taking the loss on a Fire.

So while Apple iBooks will steal away a few Kindle customers, and the Fire will steal away a few uninformed people from the iPad market, for the most part they seem to help each other out without even trying.

i only hope that this(and continuing future references in other brands' ads to Apple's high pricing policy of idevices) would somehow some day get Apple Inc. to slash the prices..and just for that i am all up for these ads:D:D

OMFG - are they really implying that one should carry around 3 devices to do what ONE iPad can do?

WOW. That ad agency should be fired.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

So would you want to sleep with 3 crack wh ores or 1 supermodel?

I'm really sorry for starting a car brand comparison feud.

Maybe it's time to end it. I didn't mean to offend anyone for driving certain car.

This thread is about Kindle Fire vs iPad, remember??? :D

EXACTLY? Unreal how nobody thought that increasing the s*it that people have to carry around is actually more of a problem than a little glare in broad sunlight - give me a break
