Well except it's still missing BBC iPlayer, BBC Sport, All4, ITV Player, Demand 5, Animax, Blinkbox, Spotify ... Not to mention a modern looking Now TV app which isn't a pile of festering sewage.

But hey, Amazon is a huge win all the same.
I know its not official, by Auntie Player (iPlayer App) is simply brilliant - the best iPlayer interface I've used on anything. It only takes a few minutes to load as long as you have a Mac and USB-C cable.

Yeah I'd agree with that. I've been using Auntie Player for ages, it works brilliantly.

I wouldn't know, but it would't surprise me. The official App certainly won't.

I understand those outside the UK have been craving a proper iPlayer App for some time, but due to "the unique way the BBC is funded" the BBC seem disinterested in taking your money. A sorry state of affairs.

It's not that they wouldn't like to, it's because they are funded by the population of the U.K. There's limits to what they are and aren't allowed to do with Uk funded programming.

Wonder if it will be here before xmas? Whenever I ask support about it they're sticking to the 'no plans' line.

I hope so. I have been really happy with the Free 2 day Shipping at $79/year. With the price increase to $99 with the added benefit of Amazon Prime which I am unable to use with the Apple TV I am now thinking it may not be worth it. However, with Amazon Prime on the Apple TV then I would for sure buy it. Also, I would consider the other add-on's. I think Apple TV will be a huge market for Amazon. So with the push into this area with add-on's it is hard to believe they would not want to be on the Apple TV platform. I think there has been a lot of analysis done where iPhone Owners tend to spend more money then other device owners. My guess is that Apple TV Owners might be the same. A customer willing to pay a premium for the box is probably the kind of customer Amazon Prime would want.

Same here. The Amazon support even told me, that Apple won't allow iTunes on Fire TV. So they won't bring an App for Apple TV...

That engineer got trolled by a rep telling them that an app was on its way. And so did every Apple site that believed him to. lol

I'm not blaming Apple. I just doubt that Amazon will bring an App for Apple TV 4.

Never found a second source for confirmation other than Dan Bostonweeks feed.

Apple told BUZZFEED that all are welcome. If Amazon or VuDu want to create an App they can. Just like on the iPad if they sell via in app purchase they will have to pay Apple so they don't. This is not complicated. Stop blaming Apple.

Open to everyone...on Apples terms. Stop drinking Koolaid. It's bad for you.

Articles like that can only be called one thing. Homerism.

What surprises me is that they aren't able to sell us subscriptions. I'd gladly, GLADLY pay $7-15/mo to get iPlayer. Hell, depending how much a UK TV license costs, I might be willing to pay the USD equivalent for a year to get it here. I would like to think that if we're paying, they could accommodate us. I'm not asking for a freebie.

You could subscribe to a DNS spoofing site such as unblock.us or unotelly for $4-5 a month, which allows you to spoof your location, which would then allow you access.

Stupid and counter-productive from Amazon. They're not going to get ATV users to switch to their HW with this, just annoy them. I want to drop Netflix for Prime, given how little I really use it and I'd like the shipping bonus too, but not until they're on ATV.
Amazon is very smart.

Not everyone has or wants Apple TV. In fact even amongst my hard core Apple friends I'm the only one with Apple TV.

Most of my friends have wonderful, dedicated home theaters. There's a wide variety of devices and equipment to create a world class theater without touching anything from Apple.

I'm sure I remember reading that the BBC were planning to do just that, but nothing ever came of it. That sad, the BBC has been under attack for some time now by the UK government, with lots of budget cuts, so I imagine plenty of projects have fallen by the wayside.

I agree it's ridiculous in this day and age, the trouble is the BBC are governed by a body who seem to be very much stuck in the past. Trying to get anything approved through them that doesn't conform to their traditional, outdated, view of broadcasting seems to be an uphill battle.

The only reason we have it is so we don't have to haul Blu-ray Discs around the house. I just don't want to have to have multiple devices to access all the digital copies. It's a pain in the ass.

Well I guess that rumour of Amazon Video hitting the App Store within a few weeks was nonsense then. Must have amused the CS people to see their little joke all over the Internet for 5 minutes.
