I think I have to agree with those who give the "rabid mac user, calm down" line. Obviously, tomorrow's update, whatever it will be, will disappoint some people. They could turn out to be dual dual core 2.7 ghz, PCIe, blu-ray, ATI X850, etc, and someone is going to whine about how much they suck because they want to charge $2,500. You can't please everyone.
That said, I can't quite understand why those who already have Dual G5s are complaining so much. Your machine isn't obsolete! What the hell are you complaining about?!
"There is no excuse for this." Sure there is! IBM! Apple doesn't make the CPUs themselves, and Apple can't just force IBM to make faster chips because it wants them. You can't possibly believe Apple has a stash of dual core 3 Ghz g5s just laying around, waiting for some poor fools to buy these updates!
Seriously, I don't know why it's "sad" to think that a computer you bought a year ago, even a used computer, is still considered a good computer. Unless you are one of the very few who live and die by the seconds they can save on faster computers, what exactly is your problem?
As for those who were waiting for new releases (like myself), how exactly is getting a little more power for the same price a bad deal? Falling down a flight of stairs? Crikey, you REALLY need to calm down a bit.
Obviously, as a mac user, I would like Apple to present the best hardware possible. I would love for Apple to come out with Dual Dual Core 3ghz powerhouses, but I am also realistic that they are limited to what they can and can not do. Lower prices or other motherboard upgrades would be fantastic, but lets not forget that for those (like me) who are about to make the G5 plunge from a previous system (a dual 1ghz g4 for goodness sake!), this will be a pretty nice update.
