I also checked for 5.1 surround and only got stereo despite the content being marked as 5.1. Very dissapointing.

But Infuse had to build their own video engine to do so, bypassing the tvOS functionality, and even then only passes the lossy core of DTS and Dolby Digital.

Correct but your statement maintains that the tvOS is incapable of doing it. That's false. Its possible to do if you don't use the built in video player.

Hulu has no capability of doing 5.1
Hulu was in mono for over 6 months after many app updates so I it will be a while before Amazon video supports 5.1.
[doublepost=1512570766][/doublepost]Also no PPV or Amazon channel garbage either. The only paid content is movies that I have purchased.

Ok, well, the Amazon Prime app is buggy. I have ATV4K and was playing with the video settings yesterday, and by mistake my Apple TV 4k was setup on 1080p SDR.
Install amazon prime App and realized that the resolution was not correct, changed to 4K SRD on Apple TV.
When I try to open the amazon video app, the screen menu all resize wrong... (huge menus)
Deleted the app and installed again.. the videos I was playing before setup the correct resolution now doesn't play... gives error message to contact amazon / video help.
Now when playing the other episodes it play nice in 4k.
For some reason the even after deleting the app it has some settings cached in the app.
Hope Amazon will fix soon...

So, are we supposed to be able to do a search from the main screen of the Apple TV and see movies available in the Amazon app? For example, if I search for "The Holiday" which is a movie included with your Prime subscription, my Apple TV shows me that it's available in Hulu, iTunes or Crackle. Why isn't it telling me that I can watch it in Amazon (for free)??

That's pretty useless if I have to search for movies inside multiple apps vs. a true universal search. What am I missing here? Does this functionality work for anyone else?

Thanks!

It is working on my iPhone so my guess is that is will work on the Apple TV sometime today. Amazon Prime Video shows are also showing up in my TV App on my iPhone.

Good call. I tried it and it works on my iPhone as well. Did you try it on the Apple TV by chance? Still not working for me there.

We recently got a LD OLED 4K HDR 55" TV, which looks completely amazing with 4K or 1080P via the AppleTV. The TV itself has an Amazon Prime app, and it looks completely horrible- I haven’t bothered to try it via AirPlay as we have more than enough great stuff to watch via HBO, Showtime, Netflix & our Blu-ray collection –with the release of the AppleTV app I’ll try it again, but considering it’s current badness I’d be surprised if it touched Netflix’s 4K
my brand new lg 4K tv amazon app doesn’t actually play 4K content either bring that other apps like YouTube and Netflix can I put this on amazon

I’d put this on amazon because I believe 3rd party have to opt into these features

Please let us know in the comments if you're seeing the app outside of the U.S. Thanks!
not showing up in canada so I went into purchased (not on this device) apps and saw it there. downloaded. registered device to account. works fine

Figures they release it 3 days after I get a new 4K Roku TV and no longer need it for the Apple TV...

I just had a browse through their content, and I'm very disappointed. The HD movies/shows have quite poor graphics, just like typical old DVDs, and the 'Ultra 4K' with HDR just looks so bad that should be only categorised as HD really. These issues already happened if you watched Amazon using a web browser or else, so I was really hoping with this new release they would enhance their content to be of acceptable quality... I guess nothing can yet beat Netflix's Ultra HD 4K or the even better Dolby Vision content!...

Suddenly Prime Originals are showing up in my "TV" app!

And at least so far, it seems to be only Prime Originals. I checked some movies and TV shows that are "free" in the Amazon app yet do not appear to support Prime Video on the TV app. What a bizarre rollout that's inexcusably lacking in information.

Got the iOS update < 7 AM CST, but tvOS version was nowhere to be found!

Amazon says this will be on 3rd Gen ATV too, huh?! If so, very cool!

It‘s still one of the apps I don’t like on the ATV. It took them 1 1/2 year to update and the only things they did was bug fixes...

I find the Youtube on most streaming boxes to be subpar. These days I just use airplay from my iPhone/iPad to watch Youtube. Discovering the content on the streaming boxes youtube app is pretty bad.

Just like many products from Amazon, all videos are not viewable in my region despite the fact that the app is available in my country's App Store.

In comparison, Netflix has put a lot of efforts in making their content available to international users.
